Escargot of dinning experiences In one sentence, this place sucked. I can’t believe this restaurant can survive. The dining room was loud, the service was beyond slow, and the food was mediocre at best. Each couple had their drink order taken, waited, and then served before the next drink was taken. We all sat at the same time, no late comers. I was sitting for 45 minutes before I received my first beer. (Yes, I know this is a wine bar, but I was there with a friend, her choice.) An hour into the dinner, the appetizer came. Another half hour waited for the entrée….. I got the feeling that because we weren’t ‘known’ to the staff, we didn’t receive service. In the time we were sat, the dining room filled with other diners. They were served, ate, paid their bill, and left while our table was still waiting for the server to take the dessert order. Yes, we had a large party, they tend to be difficult to deal with but there was so much time between each ‘check in’ that no one at the table was still deciding on what they wanted, we were all chomping at the bit to get the next food item in front of us. The only thing that was provided quickly and regularly was the water. I drank a lot of water that night and felt quick full when I finally was able to leave two and a half hours later. Maybe that was the point of all the water, to make the customer feel satisfied with the food. The bill was done by hand. Yes, this is 2017 and all the items were added by hand with a calculator. This was so painful to watch. And in the process of figuring out our bill, our server had to stop, go into the kitchen, pick up another tables entrée and bring it out. Um, pretty sure one of your co-workers or the manager could have helped you with that. Luckily, we paid with cash so we said our good-byes and almost ran out of there.

My husband and I dined at Enoteco Sagno for the first time tonite. We had an awesome waiter who was attentive but aware of our desire for privacy. We had the crostini with white beans and the mozzarella and roasted red peppers as appetizers. OMG - the roasted red peppers were incredible with the fresh basil strips on the mozzarella. The lemon and pepper in the white beans was awesome. I am a huge fan of chicken piccata so that was my entrée. Ive never had chicken piccata with anything but a chicken breast but they make it with a thigh. Every single bit of flavor was packed in to that thigh. It was, by far, the best chicken piccata I have ever had. My husband got the pesto tagliatelle and if my piccata had not been so delicious I would consider getting that next time because it was also incredible. We got the fresh spring pea gnocchi to bring home but we just had to try it and the truffle cream sauce with those fresh peas and asparagus and that gnocchi was to die for. We finished the meal off with salted caramel pudding and lets just say it was the icing on the cake! We cant believe it took us 12 years to find this place. Its our new favorite restaurant!!!

I recently had dinner at Enoteca-Sogno with a large group of friends. We all had the best experience at this restaurant. Gary (the owner) helped me create a menu that was perfect. It included appetizers, salad, entrees and dessert. He was delightful to work with and knew what to choose that would be crowd pleasers. The wine selections were incredible. If anyone was unfamiliar with a suggested wine, a taste was offered before purchase. I didnt see anyone reject what was offered. The appetizers were amazing. We couldnt get enough of the calamari, bean salad or red peppers and mozzarella on crostini. The salad and bread were delicious, and the entrees, sausage and rapini, spaghetti and clam sauce, tagliatelle with bolognese and chicken picatta were fabulous. I had the espresso gelato and it was the best ever. Our group (41 people) wants to return to this restaurant every year. A great thought. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great wine and Italian dinner experience..

This is our new go-to place for Italian in Richmond! A group of us went last night for my wifes birthday, everything was spectacular. Ordered mussels in marinara, a burrata with olive oil, basil and tomatoes, and a cheese plate for the appetizers, two bottles of wine (the verdicchio from Marche was particularly excellent) and rockfish and whole flounder for the mains. Pistachio gelato and espresso gelato for dessert. Everything was perfectly prepared, and we were all super impressed by our waiters knowledge of the food, particularly the cheese and wine. Its a little far afield from where we live, but well be back many times. Totally worth the trip.

I didnt even get to try the food because the service was terrible. The wait staff ignored my partner and I when we walked in. When we finally got seated, the waiter read us the specials and then when we didnt order a 10 dollar glass of wine (you can only order 4 wines as a glass and all of the glasses are 10-12 dollars) he proceeded to ignore our table and for a half an hour before we just decided to leave. He waited on plenty other people who came in after us. And none of the other wait staff helped either. I would give this restaurant a 0 if I could.

Its just not worth it. The pace of this restaurant is borderline glacial. The staff bring one item at a time, takes one order, has not cross support. Again we waited an hour for pasta, not that great either. Everything is done by hand including the math for them check. That took 60 minutes from when we asked for it. If any ask, its just not worth the money or time.

Great food, wonderful winelist, nice ambiance and nice staff. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! The only thing I would ask for is an expanded menu. I imagine they will do this as time goes on. Update: The menu has been updated, and there are some tremendous adds. Thats besides the long list of specials every night. This place is A+.

I had my first dinner at Enoteca on Saturday night and it certainly will not be my last. The Brussels sprouts are great and the spinach lasagna is the best Ive had in Richmond. The wine list is all European and very reasonably priced. If youve not been there yet, you must go. It is a neighborhood gem.

The food was pretty good, but not outstanding. The service was excellent as was the wine. They seem to strive to be a traditional Italian restaurant as if one were in Italy and do well for the most part. The food was not overly impressive in taste or presentation but it was overall a good meal.

Good food, good location, and all at a respectable price...however maybe being a younger person of color meant stereotyping and giving horribly slow service. A classic time were you are reminded as to how much of a minority one really is. Thanks for the great Valentines day.

Amazing food! I went with a small group and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Their bruschetta is great and all their entrees we had were amazing. Also a great wine list thats reasonably priced. Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in Richmond.
