Just across the river from my hotel this was the coolest place to hang out. A huge deck that made day drinking a pleasure. Whether by myself or with some new local friends I made. The view alone give them a star. Full sky line and the green trees shows me a lot of the beauty RVA provides. RVA from what Ive experienced doesnt have high IBUs or ABVs per style, aside from Hardeywood and this was more of that usual stuff. This is really more of a restaurant than a pure brewery. Im used to seeing maybe pretzels or food truck of just a BBQ grill, but never a whole restaurant. Unlike Karl Strauss Brewery Restaurants and Stone Gardens back home they showcase the restaurant, here its really not about either. Its cool, but not groundbreaking and doing nothing new. Tip: Mosquitos are pretty ridic in the summertime, granted Im not from around here I saw a mosquito the size of an oyster. Having had so much good seafood I thought it safe to try the beer mussels. Normally i use wine if i use alcohol in my seafood or mussels, but never beer. Bland despite it sounding amazing. Good value for a pound of mussels though you get what you pay for. Fried pickles were decent, but i did like the jalapeno ranch and to me it went well with the onion rings. Fried well, but could use some spice in the batter. So they said the mushroom swiss goes well with the brown ale, but when the burger is overcooked and dry even the avo ranch cant bring it back you get the fact that its still a brewery. Lets get to the beer. Hopfest is as its name states full of aroma and flavor, but i hate to say that pine kills it for me. Stout was better, but the sour fruit and raisin taste again turned me off. I loved the lager, clean finish and light, allowed me to put these away like the fizzy beer we all hate. Brown ale was my favorite, probably because of all the barrels of Newcastle Ive had over the years, but a little fruity sweetness to finish. Ok so the food was mediocre. The beer was better than average, amazing view, but the service was poor all around. the decor i fully expected a little more thought to be put into it. It really doesnt do the skyline view justice. Its still super fun and i can see why its a must see. Dont worry with good enough friends most of this can be overlooked.

LET ME VENT RIGHT QUICK: So, last week I was thinking of somewhere I could take my friend out to eat just to have a moment to treat him and let him know how much I appreciate everything he does. I wanted somewhere nice where we could eat outside and enjoy the scenery of the city or the River. I decided to take him out to LEGEND BREWING ( 321 W 7th St, Richmond, VA 23224) . Horrible Horrible experience! Here I will list a few things I was NOT pleased with as I would frequently visit their eating establishment in the past. 1.) The waitress GABBY would come ask us what we want and walk off before we could even tell her. 2.) We asked for waters before our meal and she had them coming to the table after our meal when she was brining our check. 3.) She did not mention to him one time that they offered samples. When I asked,"Dont yall offer samples?" she gave me that , "How does she know???" Damn look 4.) It took her 15 minutes to bring the sample. 1 DAMN SAMPLE! Yet, 8 Caucasian gentlemen came to sit down wayyy after us and everyone had samples and pitchers of water before us. 5.) Our drinks were watered down as hell. I mean horrible! His Magarita taste like lemonade with a slight spike. She asked if she could get him another magarita drink. He replied, "No thank you, it was actually watered down." Instead of offering him a replacement at no charge, she offered him ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER return to their eating establishment again.

Arrived at 7:05pm, with a party of four. Asked for a table under the awning as it was expected to rain. Were told we couldnt because it was "too full." Weird, considering there were 3 empty tables. Despite being sat elsewhere, we werent even acknowledged til 7:45 pm. Multiple servers passing our table. Apparently, someone before us pissed her off and it was obvious, given that she scowled at us before walking over then proceeded to give us an attitude. Already knowing how this evening will pan out, for some reason we decided to stay. 3 beers and the peach tea lemonade were brought out at 8-ish. By that time it was suggested that we move inside do to rain, which is fair and I actually appreciated that we got another table so quick. So before moving inside we placed our orders with 2 pretzels to split between the party, the pretzels came out fairly quickly but we didnt see the entrees til 9-ish. 2 hours into this debacle, were finally eating. The waitress mustve been busy with both outside and inside tables considering she didnt stop by once and we had to flag down other wait staff passing by for refills. Finally ready to leave, we asked for seperate checks, 3 total. The waitress ended up charging our friends for our entrees giving them a $70 total, so we had to find her again and change it. The irony of needing a drink after leaving a brewery is laughable to say the least.

I havent had bad service in a long time from a restaurant and I guess it was time. My husband and I were sat outside and was told our waiter should be out shortly. Fifteen minutes later no waiter. So my husband went inside and a nice waiter name Cullen said he doesnt know where our waitress is at but he will help us. Other people sat outside and here comes a waitress (dont know her name but she has the Irish tattoo and shaved head). Who took orders from the other table. Never spoke to us, never apologized. Couple of times we had to ask her to get Cullen for us and you would think since he is serving inside with multiple tables she would just help us but no she said "ugh" as if we were bothering her. She was very rude and shouldnt be in the customer services industry. And to top everything off the people who were seated 10 minutes after us got our food first. Cullen did come out and explain our food was taking a while and he brought out chips and dip to hold us over (we were already done with the app tgat we ordered). At the end the food was good so thats one star and I gave the other star for Cullen, but their service sucks so we will not be returning

When I said I was dissatisfied with the ingredients of my meal ("Best of Wurst" platter), and when I registered that dissatisfaction with the server, he informed the manager, who refused to come out or make things right. Essentially, the so-called andouille sausage was just a regular overpriced spicy sausage, not a real andouille sausage. The server said the manager bought the ingredients himself, that it was indeed andouille sausage, and was too busy to come out as he was helping in the kitchen. That he didnt come out and didnt have the kitchen running properly is also unsatisfactory- its bad management and even worse customer service. The prices seriously needs to be reconsidered if they can’t follow through honestly on their over-hyped menu descriptions. As far as the Legend establishment goes, the beer is decent, the great view speaks for itself, but the food is not all that and the service and management leave much to be desired. The beer and view are not enough to make up for the bad customer service. I leave promising never to go back, and when I do, I’m always reminded of why I said that in the first place.
