Last month my husband and I had dinner at this restuarant. We ordered the Savor menu with a Premium Wine Selection. Before we ordered, we asked the difference between Discovery and Savor and were told by the owner (the French man) that the Savor would be Premium, more expensive wines. Our first course was the Roasted Tomoato Soup with A Garlic-Chevre Crouton. With that we were served Macon Villages, Blanc, Domaine Gerbeaux, 2009. We found the same wine for $15.99 a bottle. Hardly a premium/more expensive wine. I would call this a cheap wine. Our Main course was Noisettes of Lamb with Roasted Garlic and Dijon Jus on Wild Mushroom Grits with Spanich. With that we had the Moulin A Vent, Rouge, Domaine Desprerrier, 2007. We found this wine for $16.99. Again this is NOT a premium wine, but a cheap wine again. For dessert my husband had the cheese plate and with that the Beaujolais, Rouge, Louis Latour, Cuvee Chameroy, 2010. We found that bottle for $12.98. AGAIN a cheap wine. For dessert I had the Chocolate Caramel and Sea Salt Creme Brulee and the wine was Blanc, Cheateau Sahuc Les Tour, 2008. We found this for $19.49. The total bill was $250.00 for a 3 course meal and inexpensive wines. These were NOT bottles we had, but small 6 oz. glasses of wine. We will never return.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary. We thought it was just OK. I had the crab topped salad for my appetizer. The crab was not very flavorful and didnt add much to the salad, which was otherwise rather bitter. I had the filet mignon for my main, which was very tender, albeit not very flavorful. It was served in a sauce, which did add some flavor to it, but was not that grilled steak flavor I expected. i had a salted creme brule for dessert, which was not bad, but not delicious either. Atmosphere was nice, however, we were only the 2nd couple to arrive at the restaurant and were seating right next to the the only other couple. There was a sign posted asking you to silence your phone. As such, I would have thought that maybe we would have been seated further away to have some more privacy and quiet from other diners. Overall it wasnt bad. Maybe if I were more of a wine drinker, could have taken advantage of the perfect pairings of wine offered with each course. Nevertheless, we have been to other high end restaurants and we both felt that we have had better food elsewhere.

I couldnt have been happier with my experience here. We opted for escargot and a cheese/charcuterie plate for an appetizer, medium rare duck breast and medium rare steak for entree, and a creme brulee to finish, all excellently paired with wines by Paul, the host. This is certainly a gem in the city of Richmond, and although the prices are a bit high, you pay for the professional service, cleanliness, and a superb quality of product. By far the best dining experience Ive ever had in Richmond. I will absolutely be returning sometime in the next couple of months.

From the moment we walked in the owner gave us such a bad look and attitude. But we we had our teen age daughter with us so we were trying to be positive. However he made it so obvious he started walking around the restaurant greeting each table with white guest and skipped our table. I am sorry I dint mean to sound ignorant we are mix couple.I think he has a deep problem with race and the bad things is,I dont even know the review we read about the food.,Its not good at all, specially for the price, most definitely its not french.

Wonderful place to visit. We were visiting form out of town, are wine bar connoisseurs, and decided to stop in. The staff and owner were very friendly and even greet you in French at the door! The owner is from Strasbourg, France and was able to point out on a map where the wine we ordered was from and all of the other wine regions in France. I wish we lived in Richmond, we would come every week!

100% FANTASTIC, if you truly want a 100% authentic French dining experience this is it. Be sure to say hi to the owner, it will surely add to the experience. The ney sayers are not familiar with a truly french experience ps the foie gras is as good as it get for the USA, the chef prepared and paired all wines to PERFECTION. The price is $$$-$$$$ however so is the experience.

Our new favorite place. The staff were welcoming and friendly and knowledgable about the selections. The food was authentic French cuisine and the wine selection very good. We had the escargot and each an entree - the half chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection and the rockfish was excellent. The owner Came and introduced himself and all in all a wonderful experience.

There is nothing like it in Richmond. Amour captures the exquisite delicate flavors of french cuisine and never falls short on impeccable wine and cheese pairings. The staff and customer service is a direct reflection of Paul and the expectations he sets for his guests. Excellent on all counts: cleanliness, customer service, and an amazing experience.

I sent them an email to ask about gift certificates or ideas to get my brother something fort his birthday. They did not respond. Not the good manners I remember from living in VA. Why have the option if you dont respond?
