Cure marked one of the best grand finales for the Rochester Cocktail Revival Week. During Cocktail Revival Week, its tradition to find a restaurant that is celebrating a "spirit dinner". Cure was host to the Monkey 47 Roadshow Spirit Dinner & Gin Exposition, and it was a roadshow like no other. Collectively everyone came together tonight from previous seminars during the week which included: Dan Kajdas from Cheshire, Luc Theirs from Back-Bar Boston, and Joe Fee from Fee Brothers. All of these culinary/bar geniuses worked with Dan Martello who is the culinary chef for Cure, and Chuck Cerankosky who is the bar MASTER at Cure. Believe me, Chuck can master a lot of things. Now to throw a wrench in the team plans, Cure had to incorporate Monkey 47 Gin into the food/cocktail presentations. June of Monkey 47 did a wonderful job of explaining all the food/gin pairings. You can tell her enthusiasm was passionate which helped save the night along with Monkey 47 Gin. Cures restaurant layout is shaped like your eating a gourmet meal right in the heart of the Farmers Market. The restaurant prides itself with farm to fresh table ingredients literally only 2 steps away along with there signature CURED meats! Because it has the open air market design, temperatures inside where balmy/hot ( The Monkey 47 crew and I thought we where getting an authentic Cure experience). The menu at Cure rotates daily, with new international dishes happening everyday. As we all sat around the "spirit" table, we where ready to get the Gin show on the road... FIRST COURSE: The Beef Tartare was smoked to perfection, with a light crispy shallot on top of a quail egg. This was a one-bite taste, and to master this feat of creating a flavorful tartare in one bite is a hard thing to do in the culinary world. Everyone at the table could agree, this was the BEST course of the night. This was paired with Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin, which is a refined dry gin that tasted like gin moonshine. It has a 47% alcohol concentration..so yeah, this was a straight up shot. SECOND COURSE: The Smoked Salmon Omelet was an odd one out this evening. No one at dinner time cared to have an omelet. The little bites of salmon inside where delicious, but not enough. The Vodka Creme Fraiche tasted like regular sour cream on top of my egg omelet. The whole concept was dry, and lacked flavor. The pairing of the Doc Ellis Cocktail saved the course. A well-balanced cocktail with Monkey 47 Gin, Honey, Lime Acid, and Herb Oil. It tasted like a trip through the forest. THIRD COURSE: This course was misleading as on the menu it was stated as a Braised Lamb Shank, and in return we got a Braised Lamb Stew. The stew set the table off, as no one wanted stew on a HOT market-fresh evening. The stew was flavorful as the broth consisted of Apricots, Almonds, Fava Beans, Spring Onions, and Pearl Barley. Unfortunately, the stews flavors overtook the braised lamb shank which got lost in translation. The Lapsed Catholic was the BEST Monkey 47 Cocktail of the Night! A martini with Monkey 47 Gin, Domaine De Canton, Ferrand Curacao, Lemon, and topped with an Egg White. I thought an egg-white would taste weird in a cocktail, but it MADE-IT! FOURTH COURSE: Cure pulled out its signature classic Veal Sausage Blanquet for the final course. The sausage was hand-made, and cured for days to perfection. Underneath the sausage was fresh spring vegetables and herbs. With sausage cured like this, there is no need to have anything else as a garnish on your plate. It creates a hickory flavor punch on its own. Paired with Johnny and June, one of the worlds best couples, and cocktails! The Orange Blossom Water, Genepy, and Salers made this the ultimate fruity GIN drink to conclude the evening. Overall: TOP Restaurant in the Greater Rochester Area, Rochester Cocktail Revival Week, June from Monkey 47, Cured Sausage and Beef, Omelet?, Locally Crafted Cocktails, TOP Chef Dan Martello, Local Market Design, and the Amazing One-Bite Beef Tartare....Of course I will be back!!

this was not my first visit to cure...I was so impressed with Melissa and Thea quality of service upon my first visit, I couldnt wait to tell others...I couldnt wait to invite my friends. Unfortunately, upon my second visit the quality of service left a bad taste in my mouth, that the food could not cover up...My friend arrived early, and was not acknowledged, greeted, or offer a glass of water while she waited. When I did arrive with the rest of my guest the hostess proceeded to sit us at a back corner table when tables were readily available in the front...Our service offered less until it was mentioned that one of my guest had had the pleasure of meeting the owner...he shared a lecture in one of her classes at RIT on nutrition. To the hostess and you know who you are....and the server of the evening...Do not be so quick to judge least you be judged, too.

I will start by saying the food is exceptional and our server was very nice as well! This was my second visit to Cure, and my first was so incredible we decided to come back for our anniversary. When I called to make a reservation, the hostess ensured me that they would make it a special evening, stating, "we will give you a nice table and take care of the rest". There was no special acknowledgment given, we sat at one of the worst tables, and in fact our experience was a little lower than the first time. Again good food, service, and atmosphere - but not where to go if you are looking for something over the top when you are celebrating.

This place is amazing! The food was absolutely fantastic, the wine we had was perfect (and underpriced!), and the service was stunning. I cant say enough about Cure, we had to rush out because we had a show to be at, but we will definitely be back in the future.

Excellent food and beyond great service. The staff, in particular, were aware of our tables needs before we were, but not obtrusive in any way. Wonderful experience, would certainly recommend and will go again.

Compared to Good Luck the food was underwhelming. The atmosphere was much quieter and more intimate. Excellent, friendly staff. If you want at excellent meal at these prices, stick to Good Luck.
