We read about this in a newspaper article and otherwise would have never heard of it! Its hidden away in Port Norfolk which is not exactly a scene for quality food establishments. From the outside, the building appears quaint and unappealing and doesnt even "look" like a restaurant at all, but one foot in the door transports you into a clean, fresh, modern atmosphere of casual elegance complete with friendly staff and cloth napkins. The extensive menu entails every kind of pizza or topping you could think of, even pizzas with worldly influences such as creole or French. There are at least 50 combinations of fresh toppings and ingredients from calamari to capicolla. We had the Meat Trio and all meats were thinly sliced, even the sausage - which was such a change from the greasy sausage balls you get everywhere else. The sauce was fresh and delicious - my only complaint would be that it was a little watery (or juicy) which caused the bottom of the pizza to be a little wet, but not soggy. We will try to go back again and again, after all there are a LOT of pizzas to try. It is definitely a weakness for pizza lovers like me. Cant make a choice? Get half and half. They also make deliveries and have nightly specials.

Shhhh...dont tell anyone, but this is the best kept secret in Hampton Roads. Pizza is awesome, so many great vegetarian selections as well. My fav is the Greece or California. On Saturdays from 11 to 4pm you can get any pizza for 9.99, which is normally 15.99....im ALWAYS there every saturday! Love this place! I live in Portsmouth, and the local residents like me are really proud of this place. They always have the pizza ready in 15 minutes as well and the pizza is the same every time. The quality of ingredients and toppings is really top notch, fresh dough, ricotta cheese is really fluffy. The pizza is even bigger too, i think its a 18inch compared to a 16" like the other guys. Today is saturday, so ill see yall up there!!!! 6 stars out of 5! This pizza blows away any of the larger chain pizza places, there is not contest. Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Dominoes have no chance against PIZZA BOX. Trust me, you will not be sorry!

Ordered a stuffed pizza for delivery and when I called in the order I told the hostess my apartment was hard to find so "Please just have delivery person CALL ME and Ill come out to the street". I was informed that they always call delivery customers when they leave the restaurant and I could speak to the driver then. Over an hour later I get a knock on the apartment door and an exasperated driver berates me for not leaving a note with the hostess that I had a "hard to find apartment" and that hed had to wander all over the neighborhood asking about my address. I informed him that Id warned the hostess and he continued to scold me telling me "thats not how it worked". I grumbled a thank you, took my pizza that was lukewarm by this point, only to discover that it was BURNT. Not worth the price (the pizza or the delivery)

THIS PLACE IS PIZZA HEAVEN. THE CRUST THE SAUCE THE CHEESE THE MEATS THEY ARE ALL A GLIMPSE INTO WHAT A PIZZA SHOULD BE AND I KNOW BECAUSE I AM A PIZZA ADDICT!! I HAVE FOLLOWED AND HUNTED DOWN THE BEST OF THE BEST TO EVEN GET ON MY PIZZA RADAR YOU GOTTA BE SOMETHING SPECIAL AND THIS PLACE IS WITH SPADES, A CHERRY ON TOP AND WHILE THE OWNER IS LOUD AND ABRASIVE HE IS MY FAVORITE GUY. WHY?? NEW YORK ITALIAN BABY, BORN AND BREED!! THIS IS ALL THE ASSURANCE YOU NEED TO HAVE A GREAT MEAL. THE PASTA IS AMAZING AS WELL. ALL THE FOODS MY FAMILY FRIENDS AND I HAVE EATEN. These guys are cheap!! They have an issue with ordering over the phone, we used to order from them all the time, because it was local business but latey this is the third time in a row that they have messed up our order. They said that they would give us a $20.00 credit and we thought wow thats cool, but today when we tried to order, they said we only get an $8 credit with an attitude and "what do you want?". Forget it. Well order from papa johns from here on out. At least their crust isnt paper thin like this place!

This place is great and they have very kind and professional customer service. Never ordered from them before and as a new customer I had questions that they warmly answered. When I went to pick it up, they were friendly and ensured I left happy. Their menu is very unique, definitely worth a try! The only complaints I have is they dont list how many gyros come in an order, and theyre pretty pricey. Its more of a special occasion meal, not something Id get on a regular basis. Still very much worth a bite!

I absolutely love this place! It has a cozy atmosphere and the staff wasnt rude like someone else mentioned in another review. I have ordered a few times as a visitor to the Portsmouth area and now that I live within steps of this place, I look forward to frequenting it more. They have the best Calzones ever! They are huge and can easily feed two or even three people if you want it for lunch. The pizza is also really good and I cant wait to try the Margherita Pizza.

The food is ALWAYS outstanding. Unfortunately, the service can be spotty. We ordered the cheesy bread with marinara one time and the marinara got left out of the delivery. We called to get it brought out and no one showed. The next time I ordered, I mentioned it and the guy didnt give a crap about it. You just have to remember that pizza is their specialty, not customer service.

Pizzas are amazing!! They dont skimp on anything! I love that you can enjoy traditional as well as culinary unique pizza creations :) Their pasta dishes are pretty good as well, but I always go for pizza or strombolli. Look for their weekly specials, they are FABULOUS!

No doubt one of the best places for pizza in the entire Tidewater area! I am no expert but I do love pizza, and after sampling many different versions in this area, Pizza Box stands out as one of the best. Take out, or enjoy the charm of the place and eat in!

any other pizza place is a waste of time and money!! not only are the ingredients fresh but everything is made there. calzones are to die for and pizza cheese just melts in your mouth. will continue to receive my business with such great customer service.

We also heard about it from a newspaper story. We went in to try it and loved it. These gourmet pizzas definitely are worth trying. There are so many to chose from. And they deliver!!! They unfortunately dont sell beer there or it would be perfect.

Pizza Box consistently outperforms all other local joints. We had a friend in Newport News tell us her neighborhood pie slingers had "something special". Pizza Box spoiled our appreciation of what I am sure others would consider a slice of heaven.
