first impressions: Nice place.. We wanted to try a new place and decided to give it a try for V-day. The wait wasnt that bad but you could tell the staff was way overwhelmed to handle the crowed. We were sat in about 20 min, waitress came over and asked us if we wanted anything to drink with in about 5 min as she was passing, We found out that they do not have a bar only Beer, wine and 3 flavors of Sake. 2 waters it was.. When she came back with the waters my wife was going to try one of the sake.. They dont dont have that flavor.. So we passed... and the waitress went on her way.. After 25 more min no one came back to place our order. We noticed the couple that was sat when we first got there STILL didnt have there food.. that is about 50min now! and we were still waiting for some one to take our order.. It was about that time I called Chillis to see what there wait was and it was only 10 min and asked if I would like to put my name on the call ahead. We left and drove the 10 min down the road and was seated when we walked in. I think we would have still been waiting for our food by the time we done eating.. We really like supporting our local area so we will prob try this place again on a less busy day... Reason for 2 Stars: Staff was nice

Went there on Fathers day for a change of pace and found a new local favorite. This place is a quiet little authentic Japanese restaurant with a full sushi bar, hibachi, and *amazing* Thai food. The portions were perfect, we ate it all without feeling hungry or needing a doggy-bag. The food was delicious. I had the tereaki beef box and my companion had the Thai coconut fried rice plate. I wish wed had room for dessert just to see what that all would have been like. The decor was nice and calm and well done. You and your dinner mates sit together and youre not being bombarded by gaudiness or people constantly moving around like at an all-you-can-eat place. The waitstaff were very attentive as well. Our drinks were never empty and they kept the table neat and tidy. I very much appreciated them. If youre interested in finding a nice, quiet place with great food and service, go ahead and try them out, then spread the word. We need more places like this in Hampton Roads.

Best sushi in the Hampton Roads area by far! All the fish there is fresh and is of the best tasting Ive had since moving to the East Coast. They have an amazing selection of special rolls that have been tastefully put together. None of them taste the same and each have their own unique flavor profile. As for their Thai menu--its equally as good as their sushi. Same quality and care is put into their kitchen food as everything else. Prices are not ridiculous and they even offer coupons if you print them out off their website. I also love their buy one get one half off special rolls on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The delivery is also a great option if youre not feeling like going out. Bottom line is I love this place and will go nowhere else but here for my sushi.

Youll leave hungry, The sushi portons are miniscule. We both ordered chirashi (which is normally supposed to be a bowl of rice topped with assorted sashimi) and got a dozen or so TINY pieces of fish on a plate next to an ice cream scoop of rice. We spent about $50 on two plates of chirashi and two rolls (also very small, and doused in eel sauce) and both left hungry. Also, the service is poor... two different servers each walked away while I was in the middle of asking them about the menu (there were only two other customers there at the time). The food quality itself was good and the restaurant clean, but this is very much a "designer food" restaurant... eat here if you want to look "fashionable", but dont come hungry.

Im a BIG fan of sushi! My wife isnt even slightly a fan. She doesnt like it at all. When Mikado first opened I received a mailer and told my wife I wanted to go at some point. So we did for lunch shortly after they opened. Again, shes not a sushi eater. She did find something that she thoroughly enjoyed. I had sushi of course and was quite impressed. The presentation of both our meals was great. The food itself was very tasty. Overall it was a great experience. What could I write that needs improvement? The only thing I could write is that on the day we were there they were short-staffed. Other than that the food was great. The place was clean and not scary. We will return.

Went here with my wife last night. It was a very pleasant dining experience. I have cut back on dining out because its so rare to find a restaurant that has good service, food, and cleanliness. Well, this place had them all. The food was very good and the portions more than adequate. The staff was attentive. And last but not least, the place was CLEAN! No sticky tables or chairs...no dirty floors, etc. The atmosphere is very nice. The prices are reasonable too. I will add this to the short list of places where I KNOW I can have a good dining experience without feeling like Ive wasted my money. They also gave us a courtesy appetizer sample which was very good!

Great Owner! Great Food! Beautiful restaurant! Very clean and modern. Ive talked to the owner many times and is very helpful and goes above and beyond to make sure we are very happy. There is something for everyone and my whole family is always happy and full. Sushi is fresh and amazing and Mon, Wed and Saturday the first roll is 50% off. You cant beat that. He also advertises with Valpak and has gift cards savings on the coupons which you can download the Valpak app for free and get them whenever.

This restaurant is great and offers a very good assortment of both Japanese and Thai foods. We had the pad thai and the pang pang curry. Both were very good. We were given a 4 piece sushi roll as an appetizer and it was really yummy too. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, very clean, nicely decorated and a very attentive staff. Prices ranged between $10-20 for most entrees and came with either miso soup or salad and rice. Perfect portions!

I am spoiled by New York city sushi and it is always hard to find a good place. Just tried their sushi, and it was absolutely amazing. Not too much rise, rise itself is not too saggy. Fish is fresh and tasteful. Overall, must try. Ordered $36 (3 rolls x 8 pieces) pick up, got 1 set of chopsticks and 1 small cup of soy sauce. And they close the bag, so unless you open it right there, wont see what youve got. Aside from that hick-up, a truly great place.

The food here is Delicious! They offer both Thai and Japanese cuisine. Im sad to say that Ive never tried any of the Japanese offerings because the Thai food is so Amazing! Definitely going to try the Japanese food next time. In case youre wondering, they do deliver within 5 miles of the restaurant but I would highly recommend eating in if you can. They take their food preparation very seriously and every dish looks like a piece of Art.
