I have lived in DC for close to 3 years and have never been to an Indian restaurant that has such nice atmosphere, great food, good price, good rest rooms (this counts as one out of the five stars I have given) and to top it all, the way they went of the way to accomodate our group of six when we called them at 9:30 pm on a sunday night and were served dinner (all selected from the menu) after we reached at 10:00 pm and ordered. Even though we had the option of going in for the last order (where as most Indian restaurants give that option until 9:30pm) every single dish ordered was tasty. From the POV of a tired hungry tourist group of six, looking for some nice veggie food, This restaurant signed off our visit to Virginia Beach on a very good note (thanks to Google, we could bump into this place on phone and reach there in time). Hope I have spoken enough about this restaurant to make you all go and give it a try. One of the best Indian restaurants in US I have been to! UPDATE: After a second trip to VB, I went to the same place, along with the usual bunch of friends (who took my word and had high expectations). I for a moment had to wonder if this was the same place that I was raving about! The waiters seemed clueless. Every single order seemed to take a long time. with the cocktails arriving almost along with the entrees! Water wasnt served on time. All in all, it was a not so good experience that made up for the awesome experience I had last time! (probably it was the hunger pangs + tiredness that made it so awesome last time!)

This was the worst dining experience Ive had. The food was average, but our waitress was horrible. When we asked for something, she would just tell us "no". I asked that the hummus appetizer be served with the food. "No", and it was brought out early. We both ordered our food "Indian hot", "No, it will be too spicy for you" and it was probably spiced medium/medium hot. When we did get our meals, I asked for a side of butter or ghee for my sons rice. "No", although after I insisted she did go to the kitchen. She never brought it, but when she asked us if we wanted the check, she told us they didnt have any. Um, its whats on top of the naan we just ate. She really ruined our dinner, which is a shame since it seemed like a nice restaurant. Ive just never had any wait staff tell me no when I ask for an accommodation. She was very slow just taking our order. One of the men serving water and delivering food saw us sitting unattended for about 15 minutes and finally offered to send her over. She was putting candles on the tables and doing sidework, even though she knew we had been seated. We had one fork and one knife on our table and three people in the party. We had to ask three times before we finally got a total of 3 forks. We never got any more knives. I could go on and on about how inept and frustrating this was, but I dont want to spend any more time on this review. In summary, it would have been a mediocre dinner, but our waitress made it exceptionally bad.

Let me set the scene. Its 9pm, my fiances birthday, and were all tired and just want some decent Indian food before we work again tomorrow. Then here comes your boy, Muhammad. The game has been changed forever. This place is AMAZING! Good food, good drinks, and phenomenal service. Muhammad was wonderful. He was funny, attentive, charismatic, and just fun all around. He took great care of us. My fiance had a wonderful time, enjoyed complementary mango ice cream, and strong but tasty drinks. Our friend, who is a spice fiend, got his fix on truly hot Indian curry. My keema was perfect. This place has ruined me and Muhammad is the one. Like, the ONE. Eat at Rajput, the one in Norfolk and the one in Suffolk (which is Muhammads restaurant). I cant stress this enough. Youll leave content, full, and maybe a little sweaty from the spice!

We went to the lunch buffet in Norfolk, in the Ghent neighborhood. We love Indian food, and I dont know that I have ever had BAD Indian food, maybe until now. It was very disappointing. It smells awesome in there, I LOVE the ambiance, the copper cups were very cool. The food was BLAND. How can Indian food be bland??? My guess is its Indian food for those who are afraid of Indian food. Even the naan was bland. How did they manage to have flavorless bread? And strangely, there was coleslaw on the buffet. I cant say Ive ever had a mayonnaise based cabbage dish at an Indian restaurant before. The rice pudding was good though, tasted just like youd expect Indian rice pudding to taste. Theres so many good indian buffets, Nawabs is a good one in the area, theres no reason to spend nine dollars on a subpar lunch buffet.

My husband and I are from NYC and we are VERY picky! We really enjoy eating out and dont really care about price as long as it tastes good. We tried Rajput and loved almost everything about it. The ambiance is great, the service is attentive and the prices are good. My only complaint is that there is not enough meat in the entrees. The dish looks big with lots of sauce but my chicken tikki masala only had about a large chicken breast size portion. We both finished our entrees and had to order another portion to go because it was not enough food. Still, we will definitely be going back to Rajput!

This place USED to be very good, I went during Valentines day 2016 and August 2016. This service has fallen off detrimentally. For being a restaurant that has about 4 tables filled at a time, they never check in on the table. I run out of all drinks at the table including the water, along with the rice bowl! Each time ive gone recently ive had to either waive down a waiter or get up to get somebody. Food was still good but usually cold by the time I could get more rice to the table. I have been taking my business to Saffron down by MacArthur mall.

The food was great. The atmosphere at Rajput is authentic Indian. From the decoration to the plates. I felt like I was in Bombay at a local restaurant. The custumer service was outstanding and friendly. The staff was very attentive and polite. Th food choices were really good. Vegetarian and meat eater alike would Love this place. All dishes were well presented. The cleanliness of this buffet was superb. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this place to every one who is looking for a good Indian restaurant.

Rajput is the first Indian restaurant Ive been to since coming to Virginia, and even though I live in Hampton, I will always make the drive over the water to go there. Rajput is the best Indian restaurant Ive ever been to on the east coast, and I will make the trip every time. I love how well cooked the meat is ever time, and how extensive the vegan/vegetarian menu is. There are so many gluten-free options as well, anyone can come here and be happy. I have never had a bad experience at Rajput, and I cant wait to go again.
