This place is great for more than a couple reasons: (1) The food: The food is fantastic. If you want some good pizza/ pasta/ subs this is the spot. It comes out hot, flavorful and is pure Italian comfort food. Just dont go in expecting a snooty molecular gastronomy experience. Its a good ol casual family restaurant with food everyone can enjoy. Serving sizes are more than enough for sharing or taking home leftovers (love it!). (2) The decor/ atmosphere: Its a relaxed restaurant in a college town. The decor includes flatscreen TVs usually tuned to sports. The upper portion of the walls are covered in jerseys and t-shirts for the many local colleges and some more distant ones as well. Casual tables without tablecloths that are easily moved around to accommodate large groups. Its a great place for going with friends or family. At peak times the place is very lively but the owner Kirk doesnt let anybody get rowdy. Its a fun atmosphere when the place is packed for lunch and the kitchen is humming. Bathrooms have always been clean in my experience. (3) The owner Kirk is an awesome guy. He cares about his patrons and wants to make sure they keep coming back. Hes very hands on and brings a personal touch to the restaurants customer service. The wait staff are generally young kids from the local area or colleges. They are pretty chipper and friendly, but again its a casual environment so they wont be looming around like a french maitre d. If you need something you may have to get their attention, so just ask and they will get you sorted out.

As a local Id like to support this business, but today I called in an order at 12:02 to pick up in 15 minutes or so. I get there and wait in line for over 20 minutes to pick up my order that is sitting on top of the pizza oven. Needless to say Im a bit frustrated but I decide to wait it out. Finally get to the counter no one seems to know where or what is going on. They cant find the sub.. well they made it with the wrong bread but graciously because Ive now got almost 45 minutes invested I take the sandwich. I get to the car and double check because I SPECIFICALLY asked for NO mustard and had them repeat my order and guess what, its the wrong bread AND has mustard. So, back in I go to let them know how incompetent they are and get my money back. At this point its 12:53. My next appt is at 1:30.... This place has gone waaay down hill. The store was filthy, lunch meat, pre-sliced sitting in the cooler unwrapped like it is at Subway?? Hmmm same meats possibly. I left my business card and requested a call. My guess is theyre salvaging the business with the new nightclub theyve opened. Im so disgusted. The health department needs to get in there and check this place out. Its not the first time theyve taken forever and made it wrong but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Never again.

This past Saturday night we did a call in to bring home with us 45 minutes away from location. We paid $16 and change for 2 rare roast beef sandwiches, which we had 2 weeks prior and they were wonderful. Well....needless to say check your take out before you leave! We got home and there were 2 very small pieces of beef on the bread! I called and asked for MOD they had just left. I left my name and number and have yet received a call. I just want the sandwiches replaced. I really dont believe that is asking to much. I have pictures of both sandwiches. It was a great disappointment when we opened the box. The young man I spoke with on Saturday night said the slicer had broken...there was a hunk of beef in t th the case when I got there and it was sliced after I received my sandwiches....and the other excuse was they were training a new employee. My advice dont make excuses. I have worked with the public for more than 25 years. I know what great customer service is! Check orders!

Went there with a group of 12. There are no waiters or waitresses. We had to place our orders at the counter so I would not call this a restaurant. Its more of a sub shop. They did bring the food up to our table. I say up to our table because the table was upstairs. No elevator for the older folks that I could see.The food arrived at different times. Spegetti arrived immediately, sandwiches in about 15, pizza and calzone in about 1/2 hour. The Spegetti was noted as being OK, the meatball sub had two small meatballs and was noted as a joke. The pizza was noted as spongy and not well cooked. My calzone was burnt and tasted very different from any calzone I ever had. As you can see, there were multiple issues at this place and I will never return. If you are looking for great Italian food in Lexington, I would recommend Franks in Lexington. You still have to order at the counter but the food is great.

They did a "catered" event week before last. Food was in a "warmer" upstairs, was cold and VERY sub par quality. Did not have ANY guidance if and when we could eat, we were seated and staff disappeared (we had to find a girl in the kitchen and ask if we could eat) had to run up and down the stairs for our own refills and got charged gratuity (for what staff and help?) Was there a few weeks prior with my 5 year old for a few slices of pizza they were NASTY buffalo chicken was DRY and tasted freezer burnt (not sure how being its "fresh" made pizza) cheese slice was good. Restaurant at that time was DIRTY lots of trash laying around and tables un-wiped. Takes a lot for a bad review from me. Promise this review is WELL warranted

I am not from the area but travel there sometimes and was happy to see good ratings for this place. Sadly, the food was absolutely not worth the $$$$. We simply got 2 subs and a pasta with 3 regular sized drinks and it was $40! The subs didnt even have chips or anything with them and the pasta had no salad! On top of the ridiculous price the food was simply just edible. The sauce tasted like it was from a can, which is still haunting me at this moment, and my eggplant was extremely rubbery. Sorry but I will never eat there again.

Great pizza, friendly staff! The woman who greeted us was very friendly and walked us through the menu. I got a slice of the veggie deluxe and a house salad. Salad was fresh and crunchy, house dressing was good too. Pizza was crispy on the bottom, chewy on the top with this amazing layer of white sauce with ricotta. I really couldnt believe how good it was when I took a bite. My boyfriend got the bbq and buffalo chicken pizza and enjoyed them both. Definitely worth the 3 mile drive off the 81/64 exit if youre driving through!

My family and I were traveling and happen to stop at Salernos Restaurant. My wife had a house salad, the kids had a couple Salernos specialty pizzas and I had the New England Clam Chowder. There was little wait and the food was brought to our table and we didn’t have to clean up. Our hotel was unfortunately not located near Salerno’s but to tell the truth my family and I somehow found our way back several times during our week stay…the food was that good. I appreciated the fact that the prices were very reasonable.
