Came in to dine on a Saturday at around 5pm, place was jam packed... line to order was so long that it went out the door. It moved relatively quickly once the group of HS kids finished paying individually... they have 5 or so large vertically mounted TVs that display the menu options, my only gripe is they have a Big and Regular size patty but dont actually tell you how many ounces either of them are. Needless to say, I ordered the Big Classic and fried pickles... sadly they forgot my fried pickle order which is partially my fault because they have a screen that faces you which displays the order and we both missed it. The burger itself was flavorful for being cooked well-done, but I wasnt a big fan of the Smashsauce which I assumed would be more of a mayo+ketchup mixture but instead was more of a dijonaisse. The Big sized patty fit the bun perfectly but I noticed the Regular sized patty was dwarfed by the same sized bun. You end up pulling off about half the bun if you order a Regular, just a heads up :) I didnt try a milkshake or float and Im not sure its worth another trip out there to try it. If Im ever in the Fairfax area Id probably revisit but between Big Buns and Rays Hellburger within a few minutes, they get my vote over Smashburger.

Plenty of parking at this Fairfax location. Service is always good and prompt at times you can feel a little rushed. I have tried the suggested local Recipe: The Capital Burger loaded with grilled onion, Swiss cheese, arugula, smoked bacon, tomato & mayonnaise on a brioche bun. The burger is a decent size I found it to be a tad bit salty. The hit of the show was to smashfries. The rosemary and garlic flavors on the fries just popped and paired so well with the peppery arugula on the Capital burger. Their are many options between burgers and chicken to choose from also a wide selection of bonds insides. If stopping in for dinner Devils Backbone brewery by the bottle is also available. If you order online there is not a big waiting area inside the restaurant

I went to pick up a late lunch from Smashburger in Fairfax at about 3:30 or 4 pm on January 26, 2013. I ordered one of their chicken sandwiches to go. The sandwich was chewier than normal and I couldnt figure out why. I continued to eat. As I got to the last few bites, i realized there was WAX PAPER in my sandwich, or what was left of a whole cheese-slice-sized sheet of it. Thats right, they forgot to take the wax paper off the cheese, and I didnt realize it until I ate most of it! Unbelievable! So if you like wax paper sandwiches and burgers, go to Smashburger. I hope I dont get sick.

I went during a school fundraiser for my sons school. It wasnt that busy but still no one was being helped at the front. The cashier and attendants were very disorganized. I usually get some good food here but this time the burgers were overcooked, the toppings were not fresh, and the fries were dripping with grease. The only reason they get an extra star is because I have had good meals here in the past. If it was up to me, I would visit five guys over smashburger.

First time last night. Ive heard good reviews and had to see for myself. We went to the Fairfax location. Absolutely great! Tried sweet potatoes fries plus the ones with garlic and rosemary- delicious! I wouldnt normally do a review except for the customer service being exceptional. The guy was super nice, friendly, and patient...explaining all the options. Wish I had gotten his name because he was great! Smashburger is my new favorite burger joint!

Weve been there several times. The food is good, when its done right. Several times they didnt fully cook their burgers and then on top of that got the order wrong several times. We ask for "smash fries" and pay for that, as documented on the receipt, then they give us regular fries? This has happened more than once. If their customer service and ordering details dont improve they will start to loose more and more customers.

I had the bacon burger with barbecue sauce. Added a fried egg and lettuce and tomatoes. Had the seasoned fries and all was very good. The pros, burgerand fries was delicious and taste fresh. Staff was friendly and professional. The cons, each item has a separate price, no combos. The burger was smaller than most that I have bought for the price you pay.

Its too friggin expensive! You are charging us $14 for a cheddar cheese & bacon burger & a chocolate malted shake?? "5 Guys" is half the price! ! To pay extra for bacon & cheddar cheese is a "RIP-OFF" for a gimmicky name and for pre-cooking a burger that is supposed to be cooked to order! (Check the sign! ) and it snt. Boo, hum-bug!!! What a waste!!

First Smashburger in the area, now joined by the Tysons location. Burgers are phenomenal (both beef and fried chicken). Fries are crispy shoestring fries without too much oil (except the special smash fries, which do have a fair amount of oil). Fried pickles are delicious! Its always hard to pick between fries and pickles...

My wife and I love the burgers and the thin fries with oregano. My one daughter also loved them and the milkshake. My other daughter didnt like the big echoing walls with the steel and glass. It was much noisier than the Fair Oaks location we had been to before. It was also much busier and had loud music playing.

extremely expensive for the amount of food that you receive. While they do have some very creative burgers here they come with a small amount of actual meat and a big price tag. I would say the burger here is more like a single slider at any other restaurant. Dont come here if you are actually hungry.

Food is good. The prices are kind of high, but its a good lunch every once and a while. The service is decent. Sometimes it can feel like the employees are more interested in their own conversations than they are to take your order, but they make up for it right away. No reason not to come back.

Great burger, friendly fast and fresh. Cant really do any better. Outside seating area is a good size for this area. Its loud inside so if you are meeting folks best to sit out there. Lots of food choices for all, chicken, turkey, beef all combos. Original fries tossed in rosemary are the bomb.

I love this place. I tried it once while I was working in the area. And have been wanting to come here again. The employees are great. The food is served fast. My favorite order: Avocado chicken club and smash fries. Every time Im in this area, I make it my mission to eat here.

Tried Smashburger for the first time. Im not impressed. The burgers were not badamd the smashfries were tasty but the my wife and son customized their burgers and neither was made the way they requested. Defintely not worth the price. Rather go to Steak-n-Shake or Hardees.

Great burger. Great fries. The menu is extensive, so check it out beforehand. The line tends to back up because folks stand there like sheep trying to take it all in. The ordering process is somewhat cumbersome. Management needs to figure a way to streamline.
