Ordered the roast beef. It was extremely dry, it tasted like it had been overcooked for a few hours with no seasoning. Side of potatoes was bland and had almost no seasoning. Gravy wasnt bad but could have been better. My girlfriend ordered the roast beef sandwich and felt the same way. Still giving a great review because the waitress was nice, the restaurant was clean, we got out food quickly and the food is reasonably priced. I heard from some local friends that their quality has gone down over the past few years and theyve had trouble getting decent cooks in there. I feel like the place has just lost its passion. I would have loved to try it when it was in its prime. Still an excellent restaurant if you love comfort food with a small town touch.

Todays visit was awesome! Server was prompt and polite. We had the hamburger steak with gravy & onions. Mashed potatoes and apple sauce for her and mashed potatoes, green beans and a tossed salad for me. The salad was simple but oh so fresh and the dressing was delightful. The rolls were warm and soft with plenty of butter. I had coffee and we both had water. Dessert for her was Coconut cake and apple pie with ice cream for me. Great service, food was hot and really tasted great. We drove an hour for this meal and well do it again real soon.

I went to have lunch with a friend here today with my ltitle boy. He is only a year old. While we waited for our food my little boy was saying hi, uh oh and bye. I was told my the manager that if he didnt stop talking I needed to leave. He is just a baby talking. No customers complained about it. Then before the food came to our table. The manager came over and said we need to leave. This is suppose to be a family place. I have heard from others they always do this when kids come in. I would not recommend anyone to go there.

What a great little diner! Staff were very friendly and did a great job, and the food was prepared just right. Portions are sized just right. The outside of the building doesnt scream wonderful, but inside it is a cozy and clean diner, replete with stools at the counter, rotating pie rack, and ice cream safe in the corner. Great for dinner after a visit to nearby Bear Creek Lake State Park!

Every time we are in the area we absolutely love this restaurant. Takes you back to the restaurants that you ate in as a child with your parents. Never sit longer than a few minutes to be waited on and the food is always delivered in a timely manner. Wait staff is always friendly. Food is always good and we get something different every time we are there.

Our group was pretty big (2 families- 4 adults and 4 kids) and they were very accommodating. We had a couple spills and were a little loud at times and the staff were very gracious and kind. The food was quick and delicious and the cheesy grits were spot on! Will definitely stop in the next time we are close by.

Went there for Fathers Day my daughter and son in law took me waited for a hour and a half still had no food and way way way over priced we walked out there was arguing and pans and pots getting beat around in the kitchen that you could hear very well in the dining area a much deserved 1*

In our current era of chain franchises, Cumberland Restaurant is a refreshing change. Well worth a drive from Richmond, this place is a family favorite. Excellent food and excellent service. A warm, Southern atmosphere. Get there early!

Love the old time atmosphere. Good menu, great prices, excellent service. Out putting some miles on the bike and saw their old fashioned neon light sign, thought Id give it a try, glad I did. Love these hometown type restaurants.

Ive been stopping in here since 1963, never got a bad meal yet. Some better than others, but never bad. We drive from Richmond often to get the Western omelette and fresh cut fries. Always clean, always friendly, prompt service.

This is an excellent diner to eat at. The food is always delicious, they have a smoking section, the food is priced cheap and the staff is very nice. Its a real southern diner and I stop here every chance I get.

maybe if u are a regular, this restaurant would be good. An u would know what to order and when. Showed up after lunch, fried chicken was dry, dry, dry. seemed to have been microwaved to heat it up.

Ye Olde Greasy spoon. Good prices, old fashioned Virginia cooking. If its not greasy, its salty, creamy or sweet. The people are great, service is quick enough, and serving area clean enough.
