I read good reviews about this place online, so I took the family to enjoy a lunch here on a Saturday. The first thing that turned me off about the place was when I walked up to the counter and as politely as I could ask the cashier if there were any recommendations. He gave me a look as if he was really annoyed. He curtly pointed at the board and said anything was good. Not wanting to be a bother I ordered as quickly as I could, perhaps not making the best selections. On a positive note, the young lady that helped us bring our food out to the picnic tables was really nice. We had a tri tip sandwich and the chicken and waffles. We also had a side of fries and another sandwich that wasnt too memorable. Overall the food was okay. I wouldnt make a special trip to try this place.

I have had the joy of spending some time taking photos with the folks at Ace. Beautiful people, working hard, keeping it clean, and making great food from scratch. I decided to focus on the delicious Chicken and Waffles in these photos here, but I got to see the smoker in the back, how they make the fries, hash, pickles, and chicken from scratch. Brian has an amazing dedication to the craft of smoking, and the crew there is service oriented. The pickles, spicy and sweet and fresh, more so than anything else, are what you should go here for, but the rest of the menu is equally authentic and delicious.

By far the Worst BBQ ive ever had! The ribs were cold and fatty and although the brisket was decent i could have gone to the grocery store for the same quality. The mac & cheese was just gross and tasted like a paste made of flour and water. I figured Id just douce it all in sauce but the sauce tasted like ketchup mixed with water, even the limeaide was horrible!! I was just passing through town and normally would not leave review but the food here is so sickning that I just had to say something. Oh, the collard greens are cooked in sugar, if I could give this place -5 stars I would. Save your money

My first experience at ACE was today, and i am not impressed... Google reviews have failed me... That said the meats themselves arent bad. I ordered the pulled pork and beef. The reason they get a 2 star is due to the lack of any good bbq sauces... and by any I mean ANY. Asked for a sampling of the 5 and threw them all away... BBQ sauces make the sandwiches and platters, and they werent good. decent mac and cheese but nothing special, potato salad not great(too much mustard), and the apples were ok. Biscuits were good though! Probably wont go back, which is saddening... Was hoping for good local BBQ

Ever since watching the movie Chef, Im a sucker for ordering a Cuban sandwich if I see one on a menu. And this was probably one of - if not the most - saddest looking sandwiches Ive ever received from a restaurant. At first, I wasnt sure if a sandwich existed in my to-go container under the avalanche of fries. But alas, it was there eventually. Attempting to pick it up resulted in the lame 50 cent bun easily ripping since it was so soggy - which is impressive since I attempted to eat it maybe 4 minutes from the time it was put together. Two starts for flavor, but thats about it.

What would we do without Yelp?! Three of my buddies left DC on a camping trip this past weekend and we drove through Charlottesville for brunch. None of us have been to the town before so we logged onto Yelp to give us the best brunch recommendation and found Ace Biscuit and BBQ. Wow. All four of us rated this place 5 stars. Its a true hidden gem! It has character and the food was amazing! I got green friend tomatoes (best Ive had) and the dirty biscuit. If it wasnt so filling, I would have ordered another. So amazing! How they cook their chicken is out of this world!

Nice place over all. The Pork and turkey are both excellent. The slaw was good, nothing special. The Cuban was good. The fried chicken is dark meat only, so avoid that if you dont like dark meat. The Biscuit and sausage gravy was down right gross. Thin, spicy gravy over a dense dry biscuit. Very disappointing. There is no room to sit, unless you like being outside. Well be sticking to the smoked meats when we visit.

Over-rated! Very small indoor seating area and the outdoor seating consists of several dried out and warped picnic tables with no tablecloths and no umbrellas or shelter from the July Virginia sun! "Service" consisted of a rude cashier and..the food? Interesting combinations...really good fries; tasty pastrami but a tiny portion; flat, not-fresh biscuits and overall- nothing Id go back for and oh...quite expensive.

Basically it is a make your own biscuit lunch or dinner.. you can put any kind of smoked meats on top, the the key is that everything has an egg on it. and it is good that way. You pick your biscuit, your meat, your cheese, your topping, your sauce and then go eat family style. It is a small place in an industrial area. Parking is limited but seemed to be enough. Wine bar next door. All the food is homemade

Fantastic ribs, with deep, rich flavor. The brisket is also delicious. No-frills interior. This is four walls and a roof where you eat barbecue. Beer selection could use expansion (they only offer PBR in a can). Great variety of barbecue sauces, although Ive found the ribs really require no sauce.

Tiny place full of amazing flavors! The brisket sandwich was more than perfect (charred and juicy) and the hash browns (oh, the hash browns!) are to die for! The staff is so friendly and the owner checked in to be sure we enjoyed our meal. Couldnt recommend it more!

very tasty. the line moved slowly and the food took almost 20 minutes to come. the layout inside is very inefficient people were standing around and having to push through each other to move around. also the baked beans were too tomatoey. there were lots of napkins

Locals favorite. Barbeque is average. Meat is good but sauces are VERY sweet. Despite the name biscuits are small and not included with the barbeque unless ordered as a side. Open very limited hours so its often closed during meal times.

I love the food here, but the portions are a little bit small for the prices and the fact that all your sides have to be purchased a la carte. Sometimes the service is good and other times the workers seem like they hate their job.

Great local food all homemade and home cooked BBQ and sides...the smoked pimento cheese and homemade dill pickles=amazing besides the fried chicken thighs and pork and beef and chicken varieties..one of me and my familys faves.

Just visited for the first time and the food was amazing! It is a small place so sitting it limited. Overall great experience. We had the chicken and waffles and the ole dirty biscuit both were fantastic.

Their Old Dirty Biscuit is nothing less than unforgettable. Very quaint little alcove of a restaurant off of Rose Hill and excellent service to go with it. My favorite breakfast place on the East Coast.

The hash browns resemble perfection. My stomach and tongue both love to party and man do they throw down every time I walk into this cozy establishment. Just stop reading this and go now.
