I live pretty close to this place, and I actually knew the previous owner of the previous business, so I was intrigued when suddenly the place closed and this new one opened. The business is pretty similar: Korean Barbecue ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT. One thing that is different with So: you dont pick up your own variety of meats anymore. You are handed a sheet menu with a choice of either the basic all-you-can-eat meat, or the higher level, which adds mostly seafood. And then the meats you have chosen are then delivered to your table, and cooked by the attendant. You dont even have to cook it. They will do it for you. So you can enjoy your conversation and your drink. But wheres the fun in that? I told the young lady that I do not like to be served, and so I proceeded to cook it my way. LOL! You choice. They also have a regular menu. The meat, as can be expected, are the standard quality in most all-you-can-eat restaurant. But they are NOT Golden Corral cheap. They are, I would say, medium American Franchise Restaurant quality level. And if you are just really craving for all-you-can-eat meat, these type of restaurants will not disappoint you. One thing that I do really like and appreciate in most Korean Restaurants ARE the little bites of appetizers they provide to start you with. Kimchis and other fermented veggies, wonderful little concoctions that you will only get in a Korean Restaurant. These are healthy bites as well. Nothing fried here. If you have been to a Korean Restaurant, then you will know what I am talking about. In summary, like I said, if you are starving, and you will end up spending upwards of $25 somewhere else anyways -- come to these types of restaurants instead. You will get your moneys worth.

Best new Korean BBQ restaurant in Va. This place is spotless. Air vents arent hanging down like other places. Ban chan is fresh and they even include this pork one that I havent seen in any other Kbbq spot in NOVA. Came here with some friends and they seated us right when our reservation hit. We ordered from the 6 course tasting sets : beef for 2, seafood for 2 with the salmon. Plenty of food for 6 adults. Meat quality here is top notch. You can see the marble on the meat and everything is so tender. We loved the skirt steak, rib eye and galbi. Seafood itself was a great experience they bring out a huge pot of seafood soup. Its filled with all types of seafood and large chunks of tofu. Fresh lobster, clams and spicy octopus are on the tasting menu. Kogiya is the sister restaurant and was my previous favorite. But, I dont mind driving out here for better quality meats. cleaner restaurant and pricing a lil higher. There is a huge parking lot here. Seating area can fit about 20 people while you wait for your table. Bathrooms are spotless. They have a bar and soju station. Seating here can fit large parties. Highly recommend everyone make reservations before.

I like that they have all you can eat as well as a la carte option. We ordered a la carte and still plenty of food. The overall quality of the meats and seafood are good. We also got seafood pancakes and fried dumplings which compliment well with all the meats. Good beer selections, I highly recommend a beer to go with Korean BBQ! The two things I dont like are first the seafood soup was on a side small coffee table on the verge of collapsing, there were so many times I almost knock it over. Second, the lobster came cooked and so it became really dried when they reheated it in the grill. It is quite noisy so we had to talk pretty loud. They didnt have a big table so for our party of 13 so we were split into two tables, I wish thy have bigger table.

Was really surprised with how nice this place is. Very large, open, and cosy. Quality of food is probably some of the best for local KBBQ places. Have been twice and service can be a bit slow sometimes. In general staff is great though. I would say they lost a star only because sometimes the portions they bring out are more fat than meat. Quality seems to suffer a bit as the place fills up. I imagine theyll get better at that the longer theyre open. Quick edit: They seem to be getting better at this - last two times I went the quality was much better. Also their bathrooms were pretty immaculate which is rare for most of the more casual food joints Ive been to locally. Props for that.

Definitely one of the better Korean BBQ places in Northern VA. The quality of the various meats (beef, chicken, pork) is much higher than what you would find at Honey Pig or Iron Age. Menu-wise, its setup similar to Iron Age with the all-you-can-eat option A and B. The all-you-can-eat is a good value but is very focused on "pork". You can also order from "tasting menu" on the back of the menu (very good if you want quality). The food is good and it can get very busy at peak time. Highly recommend you call ahead for a reservation. This place is very good and we plan to come back regularly.

I had high expectations from what I had heard from other people, but was utterly disappointed. Food quality was good but service was extremely slow and I had to ask multiple times for them to start cooking the next type of meat (I had the AYCE option A). Because of the slow service, the food became cold very quickly, which made it much less enjoyable. I was also expecting it to be much quieter than Iron Age or Honeypig because I heard that Sō didnt play loud music, but the acoustics of the room amplified peoples voices so it was actually even louder.

Great all-you-can-eat lunch. We went for lunch on a Thursday and it wasnt busy. Service was prompt and they did a nice job cooking the meats. We had fatty brisket, spicy pork belly, and bulgogi. The bulgogi was fantastic, the brisket was good and tender, and I enjoyed the pork belly although for my taste it might have been spicier. All the banchan were very good. They also have entrees as an alternative to AYCE but your table has to agree on being AYCE or not since AYCE must be ordered by everyone at the table if youre going with that.

The food quality was amazing, great flavor, spicy food has a little kick without drowning out all the flavor. Service was very good, although Id suggest asking guests if theyve dined with you before because if youve never been to a Korean BBQ you might be a bit confused since no direction was given. For example the utensils arent out on the table theyre in a little drawer under each table. Styling of the restaurant is industrial chic and feels premium but fun. Its very loud when its busy. Overall a great experience, well definitely go back.

From what I understand, this is from the same team that brought you Kogiya Korean BBQ in Annandale. However, this place has a better layout, service, and execution. All in all, Id vote this a better experience over Honey Pig (all locations), Iron Age (all locations), and Kogiya of course. Come slightly early to beat the rush or on off hours. If you choose the buffet, everyone at the table has to participate. Tip: the meat platters (beef, pork, seafood, etc) that "serves" 2 can really serve 3 non-starving ravaging animals/humans.
