We recently moved to the area and were looking for a replacement Chinese food restaurant. We found Tau Tau and were pleased the first two times we ordered. But a recent order left a foul taste in our mouths, literally. The fried rice tasted as though they had used old rice, possibly because of the big snow-in, but we ordered the food several days afterward, so that should not have been the case. Needless to say, we were only able to eat the spring rolls, which were delicious. The shrimp and chicken fried rice, were all thrown away (5 containers of food), after paying a hefty $45 dollar bill for this unworthy cuisine! Last time we order from Tau Tau.

The food here is pretty good compared to most but the owners like the rest of the community that they are in are small minded and not open to change. In other words if your not a regular dont expect to get good costumer service. Most of their buisness is from the same people who have been eating and living in the area for the past 12 years. Same orders and menus for the past decade. If your an out of towner looking for a quick bite dont expect to get quality service that a growing resteraunt would provide. Some people dont like change and focus more on stability than having to make their jobs complicated by recognizing a new face

I usually enjoy my takeout experience from Tau Tau but I always have a problem with my dining experience. While the Service was nice, I had the buffet style dining which was OK. I was surprised to find out that a person has to pay in order to get his/her food boxed. Tau Tau is a decent restaurant around the springfield-burke area. Another thing I would like to complain about is that their menu prices online dont correlate with their menu prices in the store, so every time I order from the menu price online, I am surprised to find my food being more expensive than I was led to believe:(.

IMHO best chinese in burke/springfield! love the flavor, great service/people and great portions! reccomend the general tso shrimp and cashew chicken, I would say everything is amazing here EXCEPT for the lemon chicken because its a semi breaded chicken with a wierd tasting lemon dipping sauce on the side so not done to tradition like the orange or sesame, but you really cant go wrong with everything else, my number one choice for chinese food for sure! The lomein noodles are also pretty thick with flavor

Limited selection of the buffet, and it is usually crowded during it. Food is kept warm, but is average in taste. From what I hear, when you order off the menu the food is amazing, but I havent tried it yet being the cheap person that I am. Aside from the claustrophobic feelings as well as that of a lack of privacy, the service is excellent, and i would recommend giving it a spin, at least for takeout. If you do go for sit down, go with a large group and get the circle table, then eat family style.

Before placing all of our orders we made sure to say that one person in our party was a vegetarian and that they couldnt eat any meat, including eggs in the rice. They served pork to a vegetarian who didnt realise what it was until she took a bite. They also said the spring roll was veggie, but there was clearly shrimp in it, which we didnt see until after she had taken a bite. They blamed it all on the waiter, but it was also the chefs fault. Were never eating here again.

Located in the Rolling Valley Shopping Center near the intersection of Old Keene Mill Dr and Shiplett Boulevard and it is in the middle of the smaller building disconnected from the much larger stores like Shoppers Food. This is a very solid chinese restaurant with consistent service and always very fast. My favorite is their Gen Tso Chicken because its dark spicy rich flavor that sets them apart from the dozen other chinese retaurants in the area.

My family has been going to this restaurant for along time and never used promotional coupons because we always forget them. Today I finally remembered about a coupon I had and the lady thats always there was very rude about me wanting to use it. This wont stop me from going there..the food is very good. Ill just make sure I dont bring any coupons. The one star is for the costumer service, but Ill give the food a 4.5

Used to be really good - management changed a few years ago and its been your typical Chinese restaurant. The change was in the food but not the service. The amount of oil and lack of fresh ingredients made me lose my desire to continue going here. When I used to eat here in 1998 I would have rated this a 5. This is better than Shiros which is right next door.

I have only eaten food from Tau Tau twice. Once was carry-out orange chicken, which I usually order to first gauge a chinese restaurant. The orange chicken was OK, but nothing great. The second time, we ate at the restaurant and the server was sub-par. The dumplings were partially frozen, good job guys. Is it really that hard to make good chinese food?

The delivery was very fast, and the kids liked the sweet and sour chicken. The crab rangoon was only ok, a lot of cream cheese, almost no taste of crab. My husband got the wontons and said they were heavy on the breading, and didnt finish them. The lo mein had an odd smell and flavor, it was thrown away. I doubt well order again from here.

we get take out/delivery often. very good food, great taste, and well cooked (e.g. other restaurants sweet and sour pork is either soggy or bland. tau taus tastes great and stays nice and crispy.) the additional Thai choices are very good as well. the inside of the restaurant itself is a bit plain and basic, but who cares.

Our favorite local Chinese food. When we moved to the area 10 years ago someone at work told me about his place and weve been going here ever since. Portions are generous; we usually get one of the specials which comes with soup and a spring roll; plenty of food for lunch the next day or two.

Typical chinese resturaunt. The food is enjoyable and has a nice atomsphere for family. I especially like the pepper steak. But, some of the food is soggy and when I go for the Weekend buffet alot of the food is cold. But, the price is fair and reasonable.

I called to place an order, I wanted to substitute their white rice for fried noodles. But they kept insisting that I couldnt. Ive been ordering from this restaurant for so many years but they just lost a customer today. Terrible customer service!!!!!!!

Sunday lunch buffet was yummy. The selection is small (small space), but yummy. So nice to have homemade egg rolls crunchy in spring roll dough. The dumpling meat had an odd taste though, like organ meat. Service was great too. We will be returning.

THE best General Tsos in the world. No joking around here. I come to NOVA and the DC metro ares twice a month from NC (have been for 11 years) and always stop here for the weekend buffet. The food will literally change your life.
