I stepped up to order my food and the woman behind the counter kindly greeted...the white guy behind me? What the heck?! She ignored me like I wasnt standing there in front of her face. I gave her a puzzled look and from the sound of the equally puzzled voice behind me, the guy she greeted mustve given her the same confused look. I guess either she really didnt see me or she felt admonished by our disapproving faces/tones because she then gave me a half-hearted apology. Undeterred by what had just occurred, I moved on up to place my order and to satisfy my taco craving. I ordered 2 asada tacos, 1 lengua, 1 pollo taco and a horchata. The horchata, although on ice seemed to be room temperature and tasted as if it had been made with faucet water. Oh well, I kept sipping it hoping it would get colder and tastier and more importantly I was pumped to get my tacos! Long story short they quickly called my order number just a few minutes later. Wow! I was impressed by their speedy service. Wasnt so impressed with how they took my receipt from me when they handed me my food however. Definitely wasnt impressed when I got home and had 2 chicken tacos and 1 carnitas taco in my bag/to go box. Not at all what I had ordered! It was already kinda late and I didnt wanna walk all the way back to the restaurant to complain so I ate the 3 tacos that were before me (although I had ordered 4, waste of money, grrrr.) The chicken tacos were dry and tasted a bit bland. Wouldnt eat those again. The carnitas taco, Ill admit was scrumptious! Yum! The meat was juicy , tender & flavorful. Sadly the 1 delicious carnitas taco however (which I hadnt even ordered) just wasnt enough to make up for the crappy "welcome" I received when I walked through their door, it wasnt enough to make up for the dry chicken tacos, them getting my order wrong, the room temperature horchata that tasted like it had been made with faucet water or the lady taking my receipt from me when she handed me my order. Looking at someones receipt when they step up to collect their order ( to ensure that youre giving them the right order) is certainly understandable and expected but to take someones receipt that is theirs to keep for their personal records, not ok. Had she looked at the receipt instead of just thoughtlessly taking it from me she mightve realized that she had given me the wrong order. So my conclusion here and to sum this up, since I live close by, I would likely go back to give them a 2nd chance. Id still like to try the tacos that I had actually ordered and I wouldnt mind having another 1 of those carnitas tacos. I will just make sure to check my order before I go. I usually do this anyway but of course the one time that you dont is when your ish gets mucked up like mine did tonight. If I receive another cold greeting the second time around Ill kindly take my money & taco cravings elsewhere such as to the tummy El Chilango truck in Courthouse.

Oooh! great addition to clarendon. The food / drink scene honestly is a bit bland (but improving) in arlington and Im so glad to hear that Ambar opened up in arlington! I had heard great things about the DC spot, but hadnt ventured out there yet so when I found out this spot opened, I brought my friend visiting from SF here. I dont regret it! We tried the $35 balkan experience and I would say - everything I ordered from the menu was delicious. Some things stood out more than others, but all were above average. Service was great! Our server was really sweet, made some great recommendations and checked up on us regularly.

This place is so.freaking.good! I recently visited Mexico City and missed these tacos every night I was there. The red salsa is really spicy and the perfect sauce to load up in each taco. Ive had every kind of taco there- hands down best ones are Carnitas and Asada. Seriously, you wont regret either one of those with a little bit of lime and their in-house salsa. The tortas are good, too! But VERY filling- can easily be made into a meal and snack later. David, the owner, is super nice and theyre all hard workers, constantly asking how everyone is and taking care of his customers.

Omg this place is fantastic! My husband and I got the carnita torta the torta cubana and were absolutely blown away. We tried a couple of tacos as well and we both agreed they were the best we had ever had. Their taco salsas are absolutely incredible too - try the red/spicy one! Cant recommend this place enough!!

They always forget to put the egg when I order the chicken torta. The cashier says youre total is $9.50 once you hand him any card credit/debit he adds .75¢ to your total for using card. Always have to ask TWICE for extra green sauce, because they ignore my first request.

I would love to rate this place but they were closed @ 7 pm when they advertise 8 pm. Soooooo blown! I searched the internet for authentic tacos and got excited when i read the rwviews and looked at the menu. We had intentions of purchasing food for ten people. Sooo sad!

An oasis of Mexican food in the desert that is the Metro DC area. Ive been a regular here since 2014 and the food never disappoints. Friendly, genuine staff that put a lot of TLC in their food. Try their tortas - especially the carne asada and Cubano.

I have been a client since they starred and they have become better and better, not like most places that start very well and then go down Benedict and David make TRUE MEXICAN TACOS, thanks for bringing the real Mexican tacos and tortas!!!!

Besides their delicious tacos, I decided to give the milanesa torta a shot. Man it was so good! And the horchata wasnt bad either, very refreshing and satisfying. Dam, now I have to decide which I want more - Tortas or Tacos?

Great quick Mexican bite. I had one taco each of asada, pollo, and carnitas. The asada lacked a little flavor, but the pollo and carnitas tacos were awesome. Tacos a little small for $2.75 a pop, but they were good.

I almost cant believe I found this place. Its taken me 4 years to find real, actual, non-imposter, non-poser tacos in the DC area. Ill have to go back several times to convince myself Im not dreaming.
