The service was good but the food was not. The menu was very limited and rather expensive. This is especially true considering the curries that my friends and i ordered were rather flat. We ordered three curries, the Rogajosh, the Passanda and the Tikka Massalla. These varied greatly in quality. The Passanda was alright, the sauce was nice and creamy and there was some taste there. The Rogajosh was very boring with a flavourless generic sauce. The Tikka massalla was actually terrible. Completely over-sweet and the sauce tasted more like the tomato sauce youd expect at an Italian restaurant than at an Indian. One saving grace is that the meat in the dishes was well cooked and tender. It is disappointing that a cuisine that has such exciting, full flavoured and often spicy food has been reduced to what is at best mediocrity, at worst barely eatable. One of the few times ive struggled to finish a curry.

As someone who has grown up eating traditional indian food i tend to have high standards and this place does not live up to them. Its better than buying the pouches of Paner Mater but only because someone else is heating it up for you. While not very expensive the quality/ quantity of the food is not very good. there wasnt nearly enough rice and the bread was on the smaller side. Also its the only indian place ive ever been to that charges for the rice, i mean come on its RICE, its supposed to come with the meal. having only gotten take out i cannot comment on the service. on the upside it is generally always empty so if all else fails you know you can always find a table here.

I honestly cant understand or believe some of the negative comments concerning the taste of this Indian food! They couldnt be further from the truth. My wife and I ordered the veggie samosa, garlic naan, chicken vindaloo and chicken masala to go and agreed that this is by far the very best Indian food weve ever had! Chicken was very tender, spiciness was just right, tons of flavor and extremely savory. So grateful to have a restaurant of this caliber less than a mile from our house. If I had to complain Id say its a bit pricy, but it is certainly worth every penny. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Aroma!!!

This was my first time dining out for Indian food and I found it scrumptious! They accommodated my need for reduced heat in my dish with no problem and it was perfect. My fiance, who adores Indian food, was also impressed with the meal. The setup is elegant and comfortable in the restaurant, but the atmosphere was laid back and the waiters seemed chummy with restaurant patrons. I got the impression that some of the people there were regulars and they were warmly welcomed by the staff. The bathroom was clean and nice. My favorite meal so far in Shirlington.

Food is good. We were very pleased with the chicken and lamb curries. The roti were excellent but the rice was lumpy. The wait staff, while performing their jobs, do not have a "smile". Big issue was the container given for leftovers. It was foam clam shell container - very prone to leak curry sauce - plus no bag was given. The leakage ruined our clothes. They have more secure containers but choose not to give them for leftovers - only for carry-outs. Food grade A+, Service C-, Overall Experience B (provided no leftovers).

Dont eat here if you like Indian food. I was extremely disappointed with the buffet on Sunday at lunchtime. The tandoori chicken was the only good item on the buffet; the other dishes were rather bland and nothing like the tasty cuisine Im used to getting at Indian restaurants. Most of the food was not very fresh and tasted like it had been sitting on the buffet for a while. This is the worst Indian food Ive experienced. :(

Bread n rice is not cooked well, n rice pudding is not fresh. Not worth at all. When I asked for my check he added gratuity amount, as we were only 2 persons, I asked him that gratuity amount will be pre-charged when the people are 6 or more then he said that his machine is not taking written tips n demands to give tips in cash then he will remove the gratuity. Thats not fair. There is no next time Im going here.

I love love love the lunch buffet at Aroma! Butter chicken to die for, delicious Tandoori chicken, terrific squash dish, and lovely custard dessert. Above all the ambiance is wonderful and relaxing ...we should come twice a week. They have a nice patio in Shirlington but we ate inside and it was easy to stroll our baby stroller to a table or booth because of the large room. Great experience!

As a travel agency that rates restaurants and hotels for our customers we were very disappointed. The waiter never asked us how is food was. I had to chase him down to get whatever I needed. I you do not want to be waited on this is the place. By the way they still want a tip for bad service. We are putting this on our blacklist of restaurants for our customers. BOTTOM LINE DONT WAIST YOUR TIME!

A nice Indian restaurant in the The Shirlington Village. Its clean, the staff is friendly, but can be a bit pricey. I recommend doing the lunch buffet, but only deviating from that if money is no object. There are other Indian restaurants within driving distance with cheaper prices. Itd be really nice for a date night as the atmosphere is pretty quiet. The food is good!

Ive mostly had great dining experiences at Aroma. Love the stuffed green peppers, lentil soup, tomato soup with added vindaloo and pistachio ice cream. Staff and management make you feel like family. I especially love dining here al fresco. I have lunches (buffet) and dinners at several Shirlington restaurants each month, but Aroma is my favorite.

The food tasted terrible. I had chicken tikka masala that somehow tasted like macaroni and cheese with dry, overcooked chicken. My wife had a vegetable dish that was so greasy she couldnt stomach it. We also had to wait forever for our food to arrive and then were ignored for 20 minutes or so while we tried to flag someone down to pay the bill.

Planning an event--big or small? You can count on AROMA to deliver the most exquisite food and service. In preparation for a buffet dinner for 300 wedding guests, we participated in "tastings" of the cuisine of many caterers. We chose AROMA because it was (by far) the best. Our guests raved about both the Indian and the Western cuisine.
