We stopped in for breakfast while traveling and its obviously a local hang-out. While we were waited on, we were partially ignored. The waitress was gossiping and talking to others and didnt seem very welcoming. There were four of us and we ordered; apple-cider french toast (they need to soak the bread a little longer and get a good custard on it, it was pretty dry), apple pancake (huge pancake and the daughter said it was good), scrambled eggs (ordered 2 and we think they used emu eggs! It was a bunch, but done well and good), and eggs over easy (done perfectly). We also got some bacon and sausage - all were good. There was a small child running around, including getting into the kitchen multiple times. We were not pleased. All in all, not a bad place, but probably wouldnt go again if we were in town.

Friends and I converge each fall in Chester from different parts of the country. Aside from just seeing longtime friends for a long weekend, the highlight of the trip is eating at Country Girl. Staff and owners are friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent, filling and affordable. Eggs are cooked exactly as you asked; I have dreams about their Friday night pot roast. Nobody in our group of six has anything bad to say about this wonderful, cozy place. Well, except that its too tight to get us all in the same booth. But cordial locals at the counter have often scooted down a couple stools so that we could still sit near each other.

The Country Girl Diner is simply charming! You cant help but fall in love with the place. Its a throwback to simpler times when people valued slow meals, hot coffee, and talking with community members. There is a wide breakfast selection and everything is made fresh & hot! The prices are extremely affordable, and the diner coffee is perfect. We both ordered a big breakfast, with coffee, drinks, and some sides and paid under $20.00 to walk away stuffed! The waitresses are so funny & friendly too. Youll bump into plenty of locals here, which is always a good sign of a great place to eat. Great breakfast, great prices, great vibes!

For lovers of the diner experience, Country Girl Diner delivers. A friend of mine (Phil C.) from work turned me on to this gem nearly 15 years ago and during my time living in Chester, the Country Girl Diner was visited weekly (whether for breakfast or lunch). Site of my first attempt at liking tripe (Pickled tripe, at that), I knew that the Country Girl was the very sort of salt-of-the-earth Diner that would put the good stuff on the specials menu. Folks zipping by on 11 can trust this place to offer up good and classic diner menu items.

Waitress cant be bothered unless youre a townie. Cold, unfriendly service, high prices and miserly portions of ill-prepared food. Small milk comes in a tiny juice glass, bacon (only 2 pieces) was dry and over-cooked. They will not accommodate you if you desire a 2-egg omelette instead of their standard 3-egg. You are told very flatly that all their omelettes are three eggs. The only thing decent was the coffee. This used to be a great place many years ago, sad to see what has become of it.

This used to be one of our road trip destination diners, thanks to its great food and atmosphere. Now that weve moved to the area, were lucky to have it as a regular breakfast spot. Dont miss out on their Friday night dinner menu, either.

Had breakfast here and it was wonderful! The best French Toast ever! The bacon was crispy and tasty and the pancakes are huge. Good coffee too. Want to come back for lunch and dinner sometime. (They only serve dinner on Friday nights).

When in Chester, VT, we ALWAYS take breakfast at Country Girl - it has true American Diner Character, The staff are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is ample and cooked just right.... wouldnt go anywhere else!

I have to say that I have not had a burger like there Smashburger in probably 30 years I highly recommend you stop here even those damn french fries were good enjoy and Happy Travel I forgot even the coffee is good, and I drink tea.

When my class and I got to pick a resturaunt to go to we went to Country Girl. The service had put up with twenty-plus kids! It was amazing, the one thing I didnt like was how small and dirty it was...

Yes, its an old 40s American dinner. Good food and lots of it. BIG pancakes, maple syrup (of course) great prices. They are open for dinner only on Fridays. Went back a couple of times.
