First off, a pattern I see in the people who give bad reviews is that they ordered dishes neither I or most of the people who go to the restaurant regularly would order. They "fill out" the menu with a lot of Chinese dishes, but they really shine with a handful of them. Curry Potato and Soybean, Broccoli and Soybean, Sweat and Sour soybean, Black pepper soybean. If you are seeing a pattern here, its because their soybean is the most realistic fake meat I ever ate during the 3 years I was vegan. Now, years later, I still eat here regularly and cant get enough of the dishes I just mentioned, along with Hot and Sour Soup (not the Hot and Sour youd expect in a non-vegan restaurant, Evergreens is much BETTER in my opinion) and Tofu Bao. Tofu bao is something you might not like the first time, but eat it twice or three times and youre hooked for life. The elderly Chinese couple that run the place are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

I cannot believe all the good reviews for this place. Everything here is disgustingly sweet. Its as if sugar exploded in the kitchen, and theyre having customers eat the disaster. We ordered the hot and sour soup -- which was NOT hot and was more like sweet syrup than soup. I loaded it with pepper and hot sauce on the table to try and make it edible, but it was irrecoverably disgusting. Then we shared the Black Pepper Soybean and a second dish (I think it was the broccoli with soybean). Again, absolutely awful. I have never had such a bad meal in my life. Maybe the sugar is a SLC thing, but I cant imagine that anyone could like this stuff. In sum, the worst Chinese food Ive ever had and my worst vegan meal (yes, it was even worse than the time I was served dry pasta at a banquet event). But if you think that a pound of sugar is whats been missing from Chinese food for all these years, then by all means, give it a whirl.

I was recently at the Omniture Summit in Salt Lake City and I ate here every chance I could. The food is great and its within walking distance from the Grand America Hotel. The woman that owns the restaurant was sensitive to my diet restrictions and was extremely pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant to any vegetarian/vegan that visits the area.

Awesome food! I missed this place when it closed for a few years. Now that they also have a non-veggie menu its easier to get meat eaters to come and check out the awesome vegan food you order! The staff is awesome! Wanda is fantastic and the quality is still super consistent. I love you Evergreen House!

This was a great restaurant. My favorite dishes were the Tangy Taro Root/with general sauce, and the red bean bao and the crispy tofu bao. Great memories.
