My friend and I popped in for a later lunch today (around 2pm), and I was quite impressed. This was my first time visiting the restaurant, so I wasnt sure what to expect, but the service was fast and very friendly. I ordered the shredded beef quesadilla and it was delicious. The tortilla was crisp and not greasy at all. The shredded beef is excellent. At first they brought a sweet pork quesadilla, but that wasnt what I ordered, so they apologized and corrected the error quickly. It was a great experience. I just wish they had Coke products as Im not a huge Pepsi fan. I dont care for their salsa much. They emulsify oil in it and it has a strong marinara taste which I dont like in salsa. I just want tomatoes, onions, garlic, salt, cilantro and lime juice. I dont understand the Italian spices and oil in the salsa, but the chips are really good. Id give it a 4.5 star rating, but thats not an option - the reason I didnt give 5 stars is because of the salsa and the Pepsi products, but Ill definitely be back to try more dishes.

Great food, great atmosphere. Loved watching them make the fresh tortillas while we waited. Only cons would be the lack of seating space for those waiting, hopefully there can be some outdoor waiting areas or something added as it gets warmer. There was a long wait and not enough space, which adds stress to the wait staff as they have to carry food from the kitchen through the lobby and theres a big crowd to navigate through. The tortillas come wrapped in paper and its hard to find a place to keep them on a full table of food, I think the standard tortilla warmers would be more effective but its not a big deal. I also wish they would give you more than 3 tortillas, since it wasnt enough to finish our food. Our waiter seemed to be new though and it was really busy so I dont feel like I can accurately judge the service based on that alone. The food was good though and will definitely be worth a second trip but well plan to go on a slower night.

The food was bland and unremarkable. After we received our entrees, we found ourselves going back to the chips and salsa as that was the most flavorful part of the meal by far. I had a veggie burrito which was supposed to contain zucchini but was actually full of bell peppers. This would have been fine but neither they, nor the other veggies including the onions were cooked fully. This resulted in a watered down acidic taste which overpowered all other flavor in the burrito resulting in an extremely bland experience. I had the piña colada lemonade which was pretty good and they made great accommodations for our baby. Overall if you like bland Mexican food which many do, this place has a great atmosphere and large portions. If youre looking for something that you couldnt easily make at home or find at any other run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant in Utah, this isnt the place to go.

We were seated and received our drinks and chips in a normal amount of time. We were then ignored for 20-25 min (felt like an hour with hungry children). When I went to complain because tables around us were being served, the hostess was hesitant to get me someone to talk to and made excuses for our servers inability to serve us. I continued to as for their manager and the hostess spotted the server at our table. I then dropped the subject and went back to my table. After attempting to complain and our order was taken all employees seemed to avoid eye contact, no one wanted to apologize for sub-par service. Adding more fuel to the fire, more frustration came when the table seated after us received their food well before us and the table seated after them received their food right after us. Food was good, service was lousy... had to ask for refills on drinks and chips.

So very disappointing! Waitstaff was more interested in texting on phone than bringing our drinks, refilling our chips and salsa! A different waitstaff finally brought our meals. Then walked away saying theyd have our original waiter bring more chips, water, etc. Which he didnt until we had to flag him down for the check. We should have stuck with the salsa and chips, the meals were lacking. We ordered fajita burritos that was tasteless, the red sauce tasted like watered down tomato sauce. The Pollo Durango was runny and had an odd taste. The refried beans were bland and tasted as from a can. The waiter wore sweatpants tucked into his white socks. ( seriously )...we eat Mexican out a lot..this was about the most tasteless we have had. Will cross Cafe Sabor in Layton Ut off the list without even a second try...sadly..was hoping for an awesome local experience!

I went in to this location today expecting the same wonderful experience I had at the Bear Lake location. I was sorely disappointed. I was seated near the entrance to the dining area. Not a problem in itself. We were waited on quite quickly. While we were ordering the manager interrupted our waitress to argue about another patron and their order at the bar. Our order was presented very swiftly, however the manager chastised another employee in full view of us and any patron of the establishment. The manager look as though he had just woke up, jump up from bed and reported to work. His leadership and management skills were very poor. The food was lacking in flavor and I wont be back until things are more similar to the Bear Lake location. I was impressed with the location, as I reside in Layton, The building is very interesting.

Atmosphere is great, service was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. I had the combination 2-item plate of the sweet pork soft taco along with a tamale. The taco tasted excellent, the tamale was just OK. The rice & beans that went with it tasted pretty good, but didnt stand out compared to other restaurants with a wow at all. If Id make any suggestions, it would be to add just a bit more meat to the taco, and definitely make the tamale a bit bigger. Location is great too. Who doesnt like trains?!! Come check it out for yourself. Oh, they have dining upstairs too. Pretty cool. I used to go to that place a long time ago when it used to be Doug & Emmys for breakfast.

Weve been here twice since they opened. First time, it was okay, but pricey for what you get. Gave it a go a second time, ordered online, picked it up after I arrived at the frontrunner station. It was about 40 minutes before closing, place was pretty empty. Felt like I had interrupted the staff while they were sitting at the bar. Paid $8 for guacamole that was more like not ripe enough, bitter, avocado salad that they didnt bother to mash. Chimichinga is bland, but ok, but super small for $11! Chips & salsa are good. But, for taste & peice, well stick with Chipotle or Rancheritos.

Really good, reasonably priced food and good service. Parking can get a bit tricky but weve always found a spot. Take the Frontrunner and it will drop you off right out back. The egg roll appetizers are delicious, huge serving in quesadillas and the pasta is outstanding. They bring 2 salsas to the table both are really good. Great deals too like Dinner and a movie $35, Early bird dinner deal for 2 $15 for app, entrees and desserts, and Im pretty sure kids eat free on Monday. Oh and $3 margaritas on Tues and Fri. Woohoo!
