Shambala is a perfectly fitting name for this restaurant. The only difference between this cafe and the mythical kingdom is that we know where this place is and how to get there. I would be willing to say that the food here may even be better and the owners and staff are probably a little more friendly than the inhabitants of the actual Shambala. I would recomend this place to the Dali Lama himself. I think Kurt Cobain named his band after eating at this place. By far my favorite eatery in Salt Lake and I strongly recomend that you try this place out. They have Vegan and Veg and non-veg options at a price that is more than affordable.

Great food. Awesome service. My wife and I got momos, soup, salad and spinach curry. They split the momo order half fried and half steamed. I liked the fried best, my wife liked the steamed. I commented on how good the salad dressing was (ginger goodness) and the waitress brought a small dish of extra dressing to dim the momos in. Delicious. The waitress noticed that we had some curry left over and brought us a box for it, as well as a box of rice to go home with it. Very attentive and very tasty. We are already planning our next visit.

This place is a hidden treasure! I work nearby and have consistently visited Cafe Shambala for the past 10months or so, and I have never been let down! I have tried ~70% of the menu, and while I have my favorite (the beef momos), each dish is very well made and unique. While the food is great, especially for the low prices, the service is bar-none! This family owned business offers unequivocal, 5-star customer service that would keep anyone coming back for more. Show this place some love! You wont be disappointed.

I just finished the left overs. This place is fantastic. Delicious dishes for an excellent value. The service was a little slow, but the one server was working the entire restaurant, which was full by 6:45 on a Monday. Our favorite dish was the spinach and tofu curry, which isnt like a Thai or Indian curry. I would recommend the other dishes also: we had a potato, rice, and a dumpling similar to a samosa for an appetizer, then sweet & sour mushrooms, broccoli & cauliflower, and the vegetarian chow mein.

this place when I eat there food I really am thinking that the gods favor me at that moment, it is so yummy and the owners and workers are so nice! you wont believe it till you eat it. and I really think you should. in fact my sister introduced my sister who introduced me to it, I showed my girlfriend who showed her sister and family who... well you get the idea, and its been one of my top 5 eats in salt lake city too long not to write a review.

Shambala is far and away one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. The atmosphere is great, the workers are very friendly, and the food is delicious. You really cant go wrong with any dish here, and it all has an authentic Asian taste to it. The Momos are very popular, and the fried noodle dishes are some of my favorite. They also make a very tasty Lassi to cool off your mouth after the very spicy special chili sauce they offer.

Cafe Shambala is delightful. The people who work there are very kind and genuine. I would recommend dining at dinner rather than lunch. Lunch is a buffet, and the food is still great, but usually not as fresh as when you order at dinner. The price found on the online menu is outdated, but the price is still very reasonable. The lentil soup is smooth and very delicious. I also recommend trying the momos and spicy potato.

The portions are big, service was below average mostly cause theres only one server. The dishes we had lacked flavor, curry chicken, vegetable momos, just not that good. The curry chicken needs another teaspoon of curry if not more and more chicken broth/liquid. It had a cute location/hipster vibe I guess people automatically give it a good rating for that? It just wasnt very good food.

Veggie Curry, no tofu with extra veggies, the eggplant dish, and the Shambala Vegetarian Platter (fried rice, spicy potatoes, and veggie fried momos) are some of our favorites. Lentil soup is also excellent! Steamed momos are also equally delicious. Atmosphere and friendliness of the owners/staff a plus. One of my top 5 favorite eatery SLC locations.

Im pleasantly surprised with this hidden cafe. They offer generous portions with great flavors and reasonable prices. The vegetables have the crisp texture of a freshly made dish that is not over-cooked and there are several vegetarian and vegan options. The service is quick and the staff is cheerful. Adding this cafe to my favorite places.

I love the food - the Mo Mos are to die for (I always have to split my order between vegetable and beef because I can never decide), the Lentil soup is delicious, and the Nepalese salad with the ginger dressing make such a great entree. The woman who usually waits on us is as sweet as can be. It makes me happy to dine here. :)

This place is super delish. Had vegetable Mo Mos and Fried Singapore chicken with noodles. Both were excellent. The ambience was really comfy, nice soft lighting and super friendly service. The Avenues location also makes if feel less busy and more welcoming. The prices are very reasonable as well.

One of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake. Weve liked everything on the menu, but the chili-chicken, veggie fried mo-mos, and the chow mein are favorites. Plenty of vegan/non-vegan choices. Stop by Hatchs next door afterward for dessert.

Enjoyable place to eat. Not a first choice of mine but Im not opposed when somebody else suggests it. I think the food is simple, bordering on plain; the service is excellent and price for dishes is slightly high.

The lunch buffet was incredible! Not sure if it changes from day to day, but we had spicy tofu, fried rice (probably my least favorite), spicy potatoes, curry chicken and momos (both vegetarian and beef). So yummy!

Been eating here since 2009, food is always amazing! Singapore fried chicken noodle and half veggie half beef fried momos have become comfort foods of mine. Also, love the no corkage fee! Bring your own beer/wine!

Not really good food at all. Lunch buffet was small and limited. Several of the items were out when we arrived (lunch time o. Lo mein was decent, fried rice was not great. Only saving grace was the price.

Such a wonderful place! You can walk in and grab a plate for the lunch buffet or order from the menu. Plenty of vegan options and a few meat options in their lunch buffet. The staff was very sweet.
