I think Ive been living in Coalville long enough to form an informed opinion about the Polar King in relation to the other two places in town that have overlapping menus. Ive since decided that the Polar King is my favorite place to get a burger and fries. The others places offer burgers that are either too big, too greasy, too salty, or have buns that fall apart. The fresh cut and fried potatoes are also good. Overall, I just dont feel as greased and salted out by the Polar King as the other places. Ive also had good experiences with their tortas and taco salads. I dont give them a five star rating because the two times Ive ordered something that is obviously not in their standard repertoire, it comes from a deep freezer and tastes like it is several months too old. Stick to the staples, and you wont have any problems. Also, I try not to look up when eating there... the ceiling really needs some help. Having not experienced the old Polar King before the change of ownership, I cant comment on that. If youre looking for decent food, they will provide it. I wouldnt call it a destination joint by any means. Unless you really like Coalville. (Which I do, obviously.)

On this afternoons motorcycle ride, we stopped by Polar King for a quick lunch. This Coalville landmark straddles the difference between fast food and an inexpensive restaurant with servers. It doesnt look like much from the outside or, for that matter, the inside. The menu is larger than just basic fries, burgers and shakes; theres also a good selection of Mexican food. Neither the restaurant nor its food are fancy, but judging from the crowds, people like it. My bean and cheese burrito was just that, a small tortilla filled with refried beans and cheese. Thats it. I had to ask for the sauce on top. My wifes cheese burger and onion rings were simple, but she liked them. Would I go out of my way to eat here? Probably not, but the options are limited in Coalville. The staff, however, warrants an extra star. In the half dozen times Ive dropped by over the years, Ive always been impressed with their efficiency, friendliness and eagerness to please. Today was no exception.

On August 17th, we ordered a shake, French fries and a drink. Because the employees were so busy visiting amongst each other, they forgot to fill our order. We noticed others were receiving their orders that came in after us. While waiting patiently for our food, we watched the staff member prepare fry sauce on the front counter by the cash register in a huge open bowl. She wasnt wearing gloves, swore multiple times while talking and laughing to friends over the bowl of fry sauce, which was being poured into individual serving cups. None of the containers were labeled or dated, and thrown into a basket. This alone made us lose our appetite. The woman that swore complained that the Hispanic boy she was working with annoyed her and she felt like she was babysitting all the time. The Hispanic boy did more work and was more professional than any of the adult employees. We finally got tired of it, asked for our money back, and left with no intentions of ever coming back.

The employees were very friendly and gave great recommendations. We only had a milkshake and banana split here, where were both pretty good. They basically just used soft-serve vanilla ice cream for it all and used mix-ins. The prices were reasonable. I anticipated them to be a bit more expensive because Coalville is such a small town, but they were comparable. I wish we would have tried the food. Someone ordered the fish and chips and chicken fried steak while we were there and they both looked delicious.

Dirty!! Dirty rags on the mixer machine, and the pop machines. Customer service sucked and didnt feel welcome. Also the biggest issue I have with Polar King is I walked in the door there was an opened unattended fry sauce bowl right next to the entrance of the restraunt and the cash register where they were reaching over it to take customers money and give them receipts. Then they started feeling fry sauce cups from that bowl.

I work in Coalville every now and than and I try to make time to visit this place, every time I eat here Ive never had a bad experience nor had bad food, Ive tried their breakfast and it was amazing, Ive had there lunch and it was also amazing . Customer service was amazing, friendly people here all the time.. I highly recommend this place any time....

Visited here whilst visiting Coalville. Think of this place like a classic well thumbed book. Slightly tatty on the inside but superb (food) on the inside! Again, like Denises Home Plate, this is a great place for small-town atmosphere with a Mexican food twist to it. I highly recommend it.

Very greasy and over priced. Plus the waitresses dont know anything about costumer service. Its a sit down restaurant but if you want or expect a refill they wont do it unless you take your cup up to the front. If your looking for good Mexican food in coalville try ninas markets tortas.

Finally! Real fries! Im so tired of eating food nobody had time to cook... It seems like every restaurant you hit has adopted the McDonalds businesses model of food service. Nuke it or just add water...tastes like it sounds..

Stayed in Coalville for a week for work and ate here almost every night. The Mexican food is superb (try the chicken fajitas) the burgers are simple and great. Fast, good service.

I love this place ...wasnt too stoked on the chicken fried steak but i got it to go and maybe didnt eat it soon enough...other than that its the go to place when im @ echo lake!

Is a nice local joint. Prices are fairly good and the fries were yummy. They give you a big thing of fry sauce too. They offer a variety of food not just hamburgers.

My kids favorite place to go especially after sport events, ice cream and cottage fries year round. Dinner at a good price when were on the run.
