We were in Flint for a weekend getaway and thats when we decided to eat here. My family is vegetarian and we didnt like the fact that the beef and chicken items were next to the vegetarian food and the it was dripping outside the containers. We requested a high chair and the lady told us its in the back and we can get it on our own. Dont expect any service from them. It was Wednesday noon and there was no one except us and yet they didnt have enough bowls for us to use. Upon our request, that same lady told us that they dont have anymore clean bowls. We asked them how do they manage when the restaurant is full or they have more than 8 people, her answer was stupid and she said you can reuse the bowl for dessert that we alreasy used for soup. We let her know that its their written policy to not reuse the plates and bowls. She said we can still do it but how can you fill dessert in the soup bowl. They just want your money in the name of INDIAN food. Would not recommend to anyone. Will never visit again.

Since Indian food is at the top of our list, we enjoy this place and were so happy to see Tyler finally having this as an option. A suggestion for the owners: Smile, have a fun atmosphere, keep buffet hotter temperature and Kheer needs to be thicker, creamier, nutmeg and definitely sweeter! This is the South and we love our desserts. None of that will keep us away, however, we simply want to see you suceed so we can selfishly eat there:) As for newbies to Indian food: Try the buffet for lunch so you can sample their selections of complex dishes. Spicy does not equate to hot, although they have those as well. For dinner, you may want to start with Butter Chicken, Naan, Mango Lassi and one of their desserts. Enjoy!

Used to go monthly to the Veranda Indian Cafe before it closed. They had the best Indian Ive ever had. Taj Mahal is a close second, everything is tasty and flavorful and the buffet is fantastic for those whole prefer variety in the meals. The main dishes come out fresh and hot as well as the naan breads. My biggest suggestion would be adding more+improving the decor and atmosphere with some room partitions and rugs, and adding family platters with 2-4 items for variety to sample the various dishes without having to get more expensive individual entres to share. Overall a great international option for our city to have and I hope they do well enough to stay open as long as they wish.

The food here is tasty and the service is good. The thali tray is a great option that lets you pick a meat and two sides, plus it comes with pickled vegetables, a salad, naan, and rice pudding. The tray was much larger than I expected and managed to feed two people. I gave it four stars instead of five because the food is lighter on the seasonings than other Indian restaurants Ive been to. If youre afraid of Indias reputation for spiciness, this is a great introductory experience to similar flavor combinations without the notorious heat.

This is probably my favorite restaurant. We try to eat here every time we make it to Tyler. We get the Thali with Malai Kofta, Tarka Dal, Chana Masala, Rice, Kheer, and Naan. It is so good with green tea and honey. And I love that it is decorated with traditional Indian decor and they play Indian music in the background (but not too loud). Good ambiance. The only complaint is have is that they used to give me 3 Malai Kofta balls and now they only give me 2, and its my favorite dish. I highly recommend Taj Mahal.

The food is fair but $15 for a buffet is just ridiculous!! Moreover, they were complaining that they didnt know in advance that more people will be coming to have food there!!! I will never go back again! And they even have a minimum tip% according to the no. of people who go and eat there regardless of the service we get!! So, if you want to have a bitter spicy customer experience Taj Mahal Restaurant is the perfect destination!!

FOOD - Chicken Biryani - the worst I ever had. NOT recommended. Chicken Kadhai - they had Stale chicken pieces. Naan - good naan. Overall, it was really disappointing having food there. OWNER - very RUDE and not ready to listen things....!!! Service - OK, but they needs to learn bringing Water and Plates first before getting food on the table... :) :) quite funny, isnt it... VERY DISAPPOINTING experience....!!!!

If you want to eat the worst food with worst service than this is the right place for you. If you complain for food quality or service they wont entertain you as they dont respect the customer(specially Indian). If you are starving and dying please do not go there. Suggestion for management: treat every human being as same respect And dignity and improve the quality and service of food. If you want really good rating.

I dont know much about Indian food but this was very good. The lamb and chicken are delicious, and they have a spicy garbanzo dish that adds a kick to it all. I tried a mango lessi, which is a drink made of mango and yogurt, and it was sweet and a perfect compliment. Definitely something different and I would stop by just for the mango lessi in the future.

Loved this place. The Indian food is perfect, and is very delicious. The sauce and seasonings is a great comfort food and you will not want to get out of your seat because the food is so good. The customer is not as good though. They dont pay attention to you and sometimes they come off rude, I dont if they are trying to not not.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food is very very delicious. I am a vegetarian and highly recommend the Paneer Makhini and the naan. The food is so well cooked and you get very large proportions. The service and staff were good. If you havent gone here to eat you should definitely go and try it out!

Food is to die for. The only complaint I have is the waitress that we always get, she is not friendly at all and often makes me not want to come back. I keep gong back for the food though. Would be 5 stars if the waitress was more friendly, I believe she is a relative of the family that owns the business.

I love Indian food! This place was so very disappointing. The sauces I sampled were not rich, flavorful or silky. Most of the tomato based sauces tasted like weak marinara with some masala spices sprinkled in. Overall the experience and the food were very lackluster. I will not be eating here again.

Taj Mahal is a super tasty, local Indian food restaurant with a lot to offer. Ive only eaten here a handful of times so I dont have a favorite dish, but if youre looking for something to try Id recommend the mango lasse (I probably spelled that wrong) - its a delicious, sweet mango drink.

I live in Dallas but my parents live near Tyler, so when I had a craving for Indian food my mom and I stopped by Saturday. The food was fantastic. I had Samosas Aloo and Chicken Vindaloo. We definitely were not disappointed and this will be a regular stop when I visit my parents.
