This is one of the best old fashion diners in the Houston area. The food is great and the steam table is a great way to have a tasty lunch at a great price. Their cabbage rolls are the best in town by far. The brightest start of this place is the wait staff. These girls work their tails off and provide great service. Theyre friendly, even when stressed, and go out of their way to make sure your meal is a good one. I really wish other places would take a lesson from their play book. I often tip as much or more than my meal cost. Please City Cafe, keep up the good food and service.

The food here is amazing! The best burger in town hands down! I recommend everything. At Christmas time we buy a prime rib from them and it is fantastic! My mother was particularly impressed with their steak and cheese which is wrapped in a pita. The waitresses are all very nice as well. They do breakfast and lunch and have a hot table so you can grab something to eat right away. Not a pretty part of town, but worth the visit to City Cafe.

Great food! We had a beautiful burger, tuna fish sandwich and a awesome chicken fried chicken that was the best I have ever had i wish I had a pic for you, but trust me this place is worth the stop. We stopped here by chance on our way to the airport after a week on a cruise and this food was better than any meal we had on the ship.If Im ever back in the area I will definitely stop here again.

The service was superb, and food was served fast and in large portions. We dont live near, but when visiting Houston we always make it a point to stop for breakfast. The waitress was friendly, and was always near if we needed her. The coffee was unlike any other cafe, it tasted far superior to the run of the mill drip coffee. Highly recommend to anyone!

Great little mom and pop hot line style restaurant. Fast in and out, with tip notch service. This is a place where the servers get to know your name. The turkey and stuffing with gravy was wonderful. Vegetables are done in southern style and very good, and not overdone. For a local eatery that has great service I highly recommend this place.

We love this place. All the food that they serve here tastes homemade because it is. Its a casual homestyle restaurant with very friendly staff. We have been coming here for years and we will continue to dine here. Its a South Houston gem. Thanks Harry for always being a grear owner and friend. We love your place.

Above average food for this kind of establishment, the Reuben is exceptional and the chicken fried steak looks awesome. My complaint: cigarettes! They have "No Cigar" signs and the waitress told us it was technically non-smoking, but I dont think that the crowd here cares about the rules. It was very smoky.

The food is way better than lubys the wait staff is ok ( there are a few awesome ones ) reason for two stars i can not get passed the raw sewage smell. An old smell is one thing but a poop smell is just so hard to enjoy the great food the make! Fix the smell and my review would be minimum 4 stars

First time visiting, but wow, what great first impression. Ordered the chicken fried steak with a side order of green beans and turnip greens. Chicken fried steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly and came with a delicious, creamy, savory brown gravy. Superb!

The waitress was Very cordial and informative. The food was good just like Homemade. HOWEVER... the owner was extremely Rude when there was a issue with some of the food we ordered. Other than the owner Id recommend this establishment to others.

Great small town atmosphere. Even better food. Chicken parmesan, chicken fried steak and the homemade meatloaf are my faves. Oh and they even have menudo on the weekend. Generally good service and clean restrooms.
