Most hookah bars I go to are dark, dingy places where you sit on a couch thats collected dust and god knows what else for so long you almost dont want to sit down, theyre usually owned and operated by people in their early twenties, the service usually sucks, the food is mediocre and they blast loud club music. I dont know if anyone actually likes that, but they get business from young kids so I guess they have a market. Shisha Café is, thankfully, nothing like those places. The restaurant is always very clean, the interior and exterior are well lit, their patio is very large and they continuously renovate the place. Year after year the money they make goes back into the business and you see it in all the flatscreen televisions, that excellent lighting, the outdoor heaters they put out in the winter, etc. It is generally a very quiet place even when its crowded, because these people know that you go to hookah to converse with your friends and not go deaf being subjected to extremely loud bass. They do, on either Thursday or Friday, have Arab musicians come out - and those nights it does get loud, but its a really interesting thing to watch, everyone gets so into it. My absolute favorite thing though are the TVs, during basketball season this is hands down the best place to watch the Spurs and during the playoffs and finals it gets packed on game nights. I usually get there about an hour before the game to get a table with a good view. The service is sometimes lacking - the servers arent very good at checking on you. It isnt always their fault as the place gets really busy but sometimes when its slow they forget about you. Management however, realizes this and is good about coming by to ask if you need something or if youre being taken care of. I became a regular there and knew a lot of the staff, and they almost always asked me if I was getting good service. They care about their customers experience. Their menu is mostly Arabic food with a couple of American items - like cheeseburgers. They have a mint lemonade smoothie that is really great. All in all, there are many hookah bars in San Antonio but this one is the best. No question.

I really had a bad experience for my first time dining in ,not only me my sister in law visiting from China was disappointed of the service they provided. Let me start off with the moment when we stepped in shesha cafe on Saturday around 6pm,surprisingly it was not busy ,when we entered the manager FAROOQ was talking to his waitresses all sitting on a table ,he looked very angry and had a bad attitude. We sat outside, there were no music playing. shortly after the waitress came to our table I think her name is (Marissa) ,the one with green highlighted hair . She came looking like she just rolled out of bed and not happy ,she never smiled during her service .we get the food which was the chicken and beef kabob both were on the thin side the chicken was good but the beef was little hard n vinegary as of they put vinegar in it.now Ive always ate the beef kabab before thru my cousin but this time was different ,the bread were the best, the biryani rice had too much of the yellow spice coloring. After we were done eating we waited n waited wanting to order a hooKah but the waitress disappeared so I get up n ask the other waitress about our server and that we wanted to order a hookah so finaly she comes to our table we order the hookah which took so long to get then when we did get the hookah we had to wait for the coals which took long as well. So I drop the piece for the hookah on the floor and ask for another one she checks her pocket she disnt have any on her and she said she will bring me one but never did . It was cold that day we asked our waitress twice for that heating thing they have around she never came back so the manager Farooq comes around put coals then I ask him if he can get the heat working he opens the cover as of hes going to get a propylene and never showed up it would take them over 40 mins to check on us,I ask the server again when I finally got a hold of her I asked about the propyLene she said the propylene are all empty.smh Ive ben to Narra, amore, gypsy, and other cafés they all had great service ,never had to wait or get up ask for anything.

This visit was our first and the last time going there. The service is unacceptable, I dont get people that like this restaurant. We ordered drinks and food from on of the waitresses and she passed us on to the second waitress whom didn`t even know what food or drinks we were supposed to get, so they didn`t bring my husband`s drink. The first waitress offered to substitute fries for rice and they ended up charging for it for both platter and also for my husband`s drink he never even received. It seemed that the first waitress did it on purpose so the second girl (who actually tried really hard to please us) would get in trouble ????really??? My husband felt uncomfortable being questioned by their manager why we would want those items removed from our bill. While I waited in the car for 20 min, they finally adjusted the price...I have been working in customer service long years and I tell you that if you would like to have a nice meal go someplace else.

I had the strangest experience here a few weeks ago. Before I sat down at my table, I turned around asking the guy at the juice bar where the bathroom was and I caught him eyeing my backside down with a scrunched up face. Idk what that meant. I order sweet tea and I was served a sweet peach tea. I asked them if they had just plain SWEET tea without any fruit flavoring a and they returned to me a regular unsweetened tea. That was strange. Also, I ended up literally being the only person out front. I mean, no one at the cash register, the waitress was out cleaning somewhere and no other customers. No one even looked my way for a good 20 minutes. I was ready to go, it felt unwelcoming after a while. So, I stood up waiting to get somebodys attention. It felt like I was an inconvenience. On top of all of that, I ordered a gyro with fries and that was one of the blandest gyros Ive ever had. I will not be going back to that place.

If you are an adult over the age of 21, looking for a relaxing place to smoke a hookah and a nice place to have a conversation with a friend... this is NOT your place. Shisha Cafe is a TEEN HANGOUT, with two rooms to lounge in. The kids there were sitting in front of two nice plasma screen tvs watching movies and smoking hookas.... The furniture was disgusting and dingy.... The lighting was too low to see... and the service was slow, but not bad.... When I asked the guy if they could put ice in my hookah, he said no they did not have ice..... NO ICE ??? They serve food and [bottled] drinks but no ice??? I honestly would not recommend this place to any adult looking for a place to smoke, chat and [possibly] have a drink.... BUT if you are a teenager looking for a place to hang out- this is your joint.
