I would give this place ZERO STARS, if I could....just from how mad I was when I left this place tonight! My husband and I didnt even know that this restaurant existed until we attended a dinner hosted by a group. We liked their chicken plate and wanted to return. On our second visit, when we paid the bill, the waitress brought us a tablet to sign up for their e-rewards club and said that we would get coupons for future return visits. This last AND FINAL time, as we were deciding on where to eat out on a Friday night, I looked up the emails from River City Seafood & Grill on my phone and saw the offers available. I read all the emails carefully. It is important to note that there werent any expiration dates printed anywhere...and, trust me, I read all the fine print. Also, since we were not at home and didnt have a computer or printer available, I called them ahead of time to make sure that they would accept the coupon from my smartphone and not in printed format. They assured me that it would not be a problem. When we asked for the check tonight, I told them I had the coupon I mentioned. It was the first one they sent me, for $10 off the entire bill. I opened it up on my phone and when you selected the coupon link from the email, it took you to a blank page that said that the offer had expired. I told them that I had not seen any expiration dates on any of the fine print anywhere. That I had read through everything carefully. The waitress went and talked to the manager. It took a while. When she came back she said that the manager had said that it was expired and would not accept it. I felt deceived. I am in Marketing and Public Relations and know that their Marketing department needs to state those stipulations clearly everywhere. I NEVER saw where there were ANY expiration dates ANYWHERE. Trust me, when there are rules to follow, I abide by them, but this was something that just was not advertised. I asked to speak to the manager because I was not happy about this. It took forever for the manager to come and when he did it was to defend his position. He insisted that the offers are only good for a certain amount of time (he did not say how long) and said that it was my fault because the offer had expired. I then proceeded to show him two other offers (sent at the END OF DECEMBER) and showed him how when I tried to open those, they also showed that they were expired. He says that he sends them out every two weeks. Then, I asked why the most recent one he sent out was ALSO saying it was expired. I couldnt believe I was sitting there and having a back and forth argument with a manager that apparently didnt give a crap about customer service. So, at that point, he RELUCTANTLY and WITH AN ATTITUDE said that he would take care of it. I thought he meant that he was going to honor the original offer. No, a few moments later he comes back and says he cannot honor the offer he mentioned because the more RECENT offer was for $10 off a $40 offer and our bill did not reach that amount. OH MY GOD, I WANTED TO PULL OUT MY HAIR AND SCREAM...I told him that he didnt have a clue about how to treat his customers, that the "so-called offers" were misleading if you didnt ever publish any expiration dates (which is false advertising, by the way), and I would NEVER EVER come back.....oh, AND I would write about it on the internet!!!! So here it is!!!! I am fulfilling my end of the bargain. BEWARE..........

Went here based on the other reviews. So I was excited and already expecting good service and food. I was not disappointed at all! We went on a Monday afternoon around noon. Me and my fiance ordered a drink for 2. I believe it was called "Charlies Chiller". If thats not it its the very first drink on the drink menu. It was huge and delicious! We could barely drink it all. We ordered the calamari for the appetizer which came out still sizzling. It was one of the best calamari appetizers Ive had in a long time. I also ordered the cup of gumbo. Which really is like a bowl at other places. That was also pretty good! Not the best Ive had but definitely very tasty. I ordered the catfish fillets and fries and my fiance ordered the blackened chicken breast. His chicken was excellent! Wonderfully seasoned and not dry at all. The catfish was also very good. Nice and thick. Lots of meat! Overall this restaurant is by far the best seafood restaurant Ive been to in San Antonio. The owner (who is also the chef) brought us our food. Everything was piping hot. Like he plated it and brought it right to us! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. You wont be disappointed! Excited to go back and try more!!

Melissa is as sweet as her bread pudding! This place deserves 10 stars! Great food, super friendly, nice all around. Their fresh bread is so buttery, crispy and flaky. We tried the crab & corn bisque, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes (they were so good they didnt even need aioli), and shrimp scampi pasta, and lastly the kids macaroni (which is anything but kids flavored, its so darn delicious, I mean, who is Kraft anyway?!) They make their own cheese macaroni sauce, their own shrimp or "red sauce" and their own aioli (if not mistaking). We finished it off with their Jack Daniels sauced- bread pudding, made from the same bread as that which was served along side our drinks. So Yum!

While some of my friends rave about River City Seafood and Grill, it has never caught my fancy. The food is good down home cooking, if you are looking for comfort food, seafood or gumbo you have come to the right place. They have a gluten free menu and are happy to work with you to make a dish for your diet. That being said there is not much that is exciting on the menu. The atmosphere feels like a small step above cafeteria in a strip center. Bland decorations surround booths and tables that do not lend themselves to quiet conversation. Definitely not a place for a date night. Good place for solid comfort food, but it has the potential to be so much better.

The quality of food was good, the service not so good. We used a Groupon, and the bill came out wrong. We ordered "happy hour" beer, which was improperly billed. (We knew we would have to pay for it). The menu didnt specify that there were sizes. We ordered 3 draft domestic beers, which should have been $2 each. Our charge on the bill was $5. each. The evening manager argued with us when we tried to point these mistakes out, stating that the happy hour prices were discounts already, and he also blamed the waiter. We dont eat out often and this was not a good dining experience once the manager started arguing with us over the bill... Bottom line, we wont go back.

TL;DR: Kinda hard to see from the access road, decent food, higher than I wanted prices. It was a little hard to find, but to be fair I was being surprised for Fathers Day, so I wasnt sure what we were looking for. It was the Sunday post-church time, plus it was Fathers Day but it wasnt too crowded, with no wait for a seat. Something was frozen into the ice in my wifes drink, but the server saw it before we did & replaced the drink. The bread was really good & so were the apps (popcorn shrimp & mozzarella sticks). My stuffed shrimp were VERY celery-heavy in the stuffing & overcooked, but nobody else complained about their dishes. Overall, decent food.
