This is the second time Ive been to this restaurant. I was really in the mood for some TOM YUM. So I had no other choice but to order from there since its the only Thai restaurant in the area, and once again I was very disappointed with the way their Thai food tasted. It was REALLY lacking in flavor. I was wondering why, but it all made sense to me when I searched for it online. I had no idea, this was a chain restaurant. No wonder. Im better off sticking to the authentic Thai restaurants that I usually go to. Seemed like the chef forgot to add the most important ingredient....LOVE. And to make things worse, you have to pay 75 cents per scoop of steamed rice to add to your soup. Thats just stupid! Rice is like 1.00 for a 2 pound bag at HEB! So let me get this straight...Not only does your soup lack flavor, but you also wanna charge me more then the competitors price, and then tell me that it doesnt come with rice and that Ill have to pay 75 cents per scoop if I want some rice with my soup! wow. Asia Kitchen only charges me 7.99 for the large, it comes with a LOT of steamed rice, and it tastes way better than yours. Im hoping people dont try that soup for the first time at your restaurant, because they truly would never know what theyre missing out on. You give Thai food a bad name.

Ive been eating at this location for several years now. My visits are infrequent because the food here while good can be inconsistent in the way its prepared. The food overall compared to Thai restaurants across the whole city is on the upper end flavor wise. I would give the food here a 7/10 with a few items ranking a 8/10. On my most recent visit I ordered beef salad and beef pad thai. The beef salad came out somewhat dry, no lime juice, no onions, no mint. Just lettuce with cucumbers and grilled beef on top. The beef was cooked well done. Im accustomed to medium to medium rare beef, juicy sauce/liquid with lime, sugar, fish sauce, mint ect.. I made this known to who I assume was the manager. My plate went back to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later with the missing items added, but no comment from the manager. The pad thai was consistent with what I had received at this location in the past. Customer service here is usually pretty good, but tables can sometimes go overlooked for a bit, leaving you waiting for a refill on your drink. I would recommend visiting this location on a lunch if possible, as it comes with spring rolls and soup, and the pricing is much more affordable. Its a great time to try different items and find the one you really like.

I love Thai food and every so often I make the mistake of going to Chaba for Thai because its closest to where I live. But Im trying to stop, because I know its not going to be good. It never has the great taste or bold flavor I get at other Thai places. Its bland. The chicken and beef can be dry and tough. I doubt there is much fresh ingredients used. Rice isnt served with most dishes, which is strange because it goes so well with Thai food, especially the spicy dishes, but its extra. I havent tasted pad thai "all over the world" but its one of my favorite Thai dishes and Ive had it all up and down San Antonio, and Chaba does not have the best at all. The people who opened Chaba stemmed from a restaurant in the medical center "Sarikas" and Sarikas also had a problem with small pricey portions, but at least Sarikas could turn out some good Thai. (Sarikas has the very good yum nua btw) I think Chaba does have some decent lunch specials, though if you want to try the food yourself thats your best bet. The table service is pretty bad. Ive actually never tried the dessert here because the table service is pretty bad. They do have nice decor, pretty modern, but I always think, whats the point if the food and the service suck? This is not someplace I could recommend.

Chaba has a nice variety of food without having a giant menu. You will find all of the common Thai dishes you find in other Thai restaurants, but I find them to be better in quality than most. For those of you who like spicy food, they will make the food as spicy as you please. The decor is simple and contemporary, and the overall atmosphere is comfortable. One of the things I like about this place is that, in comparison to other restaurants on the south side, it seems to be presented at a slightly higher standard in terms of upkeep. The service is great. My glass is never empty, I never wait long for anything, and everyone has a smile on their face. The staff is always willing to give you their opinion on the dishes if you ask, and they are happy to make special requests on the dishes if needed. I highly recommend this place. UPDATE: Ive recently revisited this restaurant twice in the span of three months and the quality of the food had dropped considerably. I have adjusted my rating accordingly.

Nasty!!!! The place was so filthy!the womans restroom was one of the dirtiest bathrooms ive seen everything looked so dirty! Also the cook had on a sleeveless tank top with hairy armpits sticking out gross. What if his armpit hair falls in the food! And the hostess was really bitchy. She acts like she doesnt want to be there. Well then dont work! Noone is forcing you to come in. Hello your getting paid to be there! The food was ok. But i felt uneasy eating it seeing how filthy the place was and the staff running it looked real dirty. The hostess with the tattoos is not very friendly. Wont be coming back. Go to thai spice! Its on the other side of town but omg its soooo good and super super clean! REAL THAI FOOD there! Runned by thai people not stupid stuck up kids like at this place

I live nearby and I would recommend this establishment. The service is only so/so; not bad but not great either. The food is good, and the lunch specials are fair. The decor is well enough as well. The reason I would recommend is the location. If you live in the southside, you know that east ethnic foods are hard to come by that are decent. So if you dont want to make the trek to the northside and are hankering for some thai food...give chaba thai a try. The fact that you dont have to travel 20-30 mins for some decent thai, makes up for the averageness. :)

FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!!! The food was very very good. The only problem I had with the food was the fact that they brought me egg rolls (hard fried) instead of spring rolls (not fried). This place had the best pad thai I have ever had. I can say that having tried pad thai all over the world. My only thing to say negative about the place was the service. I went here on a saturday night, and they only had ONE waiter to cover all the tables. He did his best, but was slow and took forever. I would recommend you try this restaurant.
