Good Tex-Mex and below average prices. El Chico is a North Texas tradition like El Fenix. The Rockwall location is recently renovated, clean and spacious. I have never had to wait for a table here. I think the location actually hurts it a little, as passers-by would only see it once they had passed the exit, meaning only locals would really know how to get to it. The chips and salsa here are great, service is quick, tea is good and does not melt the ice and the menu is deep. Most offerings are below $10 which works out for people on a bit of a budget. The tortillas are very fresh and made in house. You can taste the difference. Its not the best, and its not a place I would take a tourist, but its solid tex-mex at a fair price without a wait to get a seat. Sometimes thats just what the doctor ordered.

I guess I got lucky and got a great waiter. He explained the menu (I have never been to El Chico) to me and said "I know everything about the menu, just ask." He recommended that I try the Monday special as it was a good value. You can get nachos ANY way for 1/2 price. Salsa was pretty good and the chips tasted fresh. I got the mixed fajita nachos and paid $5.86 for my entire meal. I will say, the restaurant could use a little attention. I cant really put my finger on it, but it felt dirty and old. I didnt see anything to indicate that it wasnt clean, it was just a feeling. If youre looking for a quick bite at a good value, check out the daily lunch specials.

This place is incredible. The service is unbeatable-- busy or not! We have been at very crowded times (Friday/Saturday nights) as well as the middle of the day on a weekday & the service is the same: amazing! Every single waiter, hostess, manager etc has been so nice & accommodating. The food is delicious & reasonably priced (the chimichanga & quesadillas are great!). We drive 30+ minutes to come here when we have plenty of good Mexican restaurants in our town. We LOVE this El Chico! Management must be doing something right! Fernando was our waiter tonight, but they are all fantastic!!

If you dont mind paying high dollar prices for low quality food then go here. My wife, son, and I recently ate here while driving through. The server was slow, even though they were not very busy, and she did not know how to accommodate request on the ticket, like having grilled chicken instead of crispy chicken. The food was not fresh. It was clear that the chicken was frozen, and the server, once pressed on the issue admitted that their chicken is frozen. I did not go to Taco bell, I went to a Mexican sit down restaurant. I expected more, but I did not receive it.

Last 3 times we have been there food hasnt been correct. Once it was still frozen inside and our order was wring when it was brought out. The last time our taco meat was burnt, my grandaughters chicken strips were hard from being cooked too long and my order was wrong and had to be corrected. I also requested no pico in my chicken fajita chimi, like I do every time and it had pico in half of it. Couldnt eat alot of our food. This used to be a good place to go. Now... not so much. On a positive note, the staff and managers are very nice and always friendly.

Ive been to this location 3-6 times a year for almost 15 years. Its my most common go-to restaurant for sit down type of eating out. Large selection of Tex-Mex that tastes great. The staff is wonderful and the restroom is always clean... which we all know is a rarity at a Tex-Mex restaurant. This location has lots of space inside and out, Ive been here when there was more than one large group and all guests were comfortably seated. On top of this the staff didnt skip a beat. Ive eaten a lot of great food here.

Sadly this restaurants quality has gone downhill over the past couple of years. Wait staff customer service is hit-or-miss, food correctly cooked again its hit or miss and getting the order correct also seems to be hit-or-miss....... I hope they figure it out because this place used to be a great Mexican restaurant

Affordable for the whole family, awesome service everyone including the waitstaff,management, etc were so attentive and kind, memorable beautiful environment, and we were blessed with such a beautiful sunset just after dinner when we walked out of the restaurant. Beautiful place i tell ya.

The very best enchiladas in town. No one does them better and believe me I have tried them all. I have lived in Rockwall for 33 years and watched restaurants come and go. El Chico has always been very consistent in quality and service.

Great waitress. Good food. Issue with special needs teenage male in female bathroom. This restaurant needs additional bathroom for families. Not fair to women and young girls. Disturbing!! Never be back...

I just got an order to go because we dont have an Elchico in Mesquite anymore. Could not wait for chips and hot sauce....got home opened everything up and NO HOT SAUCE!!!! UGH!!! Im not happy right now!!

Service was the worst had to hunt down flatware no refills were offered and the top chef guac was not made at my table there were so many tomatoes in it.it was soupy as for rest of dinner it was great
