Hospitality? Forget it. Prior to the last time we visited this place, the food was hit or miss and I found the wine list lacking. However, because we would rather dine at a locally owned business, we tried it for the last time when this incident happened. Arriving around 8:30 pm on a Saturday evening, we were put on the waiting list and told that we were next in line by the snobby teenage hostess. We plopped ourselves down at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks expecting to be sat soon. However, 30 mintues later, after watching several couples being sat, we approached the hostess to find out what was going on, as we had expected to have a table at least 15 or 20 minutes prior - and had been told that we were next on the list. She had obviously screwed up. Instead of apologizing or trying to solve the problem, she darted to the back and returned with Brean (sp?), the proprietor, who then began shouting at us and accusing us of insulting her staff. With her hands on her hips, she stood between us and informed us that "No one talks to my staff like that and you guys need to just leave." Yes. This actually happened. As I sat slack-jawed and dumbfounded, my friend politely and calmly explained the situation to the owner. However, by the time she realized that her staff had screwed up, it was too late and she was just trying to save face. Before walking out, I politely reminded her that she was in the "hospitality" industry and that never, in my entire life, had I ever experienced this level of rudeness and incompetence. Will never step foot in that place again. Brean seemingly has no real sense of how to manage her staff much less how to solve problems with patrons when low level employees screw up. Quite frankly, with their hit and run hospitality style and the hit or miss food, Im amazed that this place is still around.

We had planned on going to Blue Canyon in Rockwall which we had been wowed by on two occasions. Alas, we got ready to make reservations and it appears they no longer have a Rockwall location. What to do, what to do? We had looked at the menu for Bin 303 a couple of years ago, but never went. We reviewed the menu again tonight and thought wed give it a whirl. It was wonderful. We always like old houses converted into restaurants. When we drove up, we smelled the smoker wafting all kinds of great odors our way. Our waitress was just what the doctor ordered, knowledgeable, personable and attentive. In general, though, the other staff could have used some polish. They werent bad, just under-represented the restaurant. The food was wonderful. As my son said, "Where most eateries just throw a sauce and some glop of ingredients on top of a food, just to make it sound interesting, every aspect of the food seemed to have some feature that made it rise above the commonplace." Indeed. I couldnt get over the smoked corn. I pride myself in my cooking and in figuring out how restaurants accomplish great dishes, hoping to do it at home. For this reason, I dont really care to eat out that much. But, the smoked corn would not yield the secrets of its wowing taste to my palate. The other dishes offered similar frustrations: What did they do to give it that flavor? I left not knowing how they had pulled off this combination of taste, but vowing to return. Regarding the burger, my son offered to share his, but I saw the knife in his hand pointing in my direction. LOL. As another reviewer mentioned, the fries are good, but are a pittance with food this good. The price noted above featured drinks. It seemed on par with what we would have paid at Blue Canyon, or at any other eatery where creativity and imagination are honored.

I know the owners and that crazy lady has caused nothing but trouble for them for the last month they have been open. She is 70 and her business operates during the day and all she has to do at night is stay and be a crabby old crazy lady to VERY nice business owners who simply share a freaking parking lot with her. As for the portions and quality...WENDYS???? Did you really compare food that was created by a Chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America using only locally grown ingredients with a salad from wendys? Im guessing your used to the giant portions served by chain restaurants who are able to do this because they by sub quality everything and dont really cook anything. I am also supposing that you are overweight because you like BIG food portions and eat at Wendys:) As for the wine, maybe you didnt notice the 4 different bottles of house wines that are 14 dollars? or the other 10 that are under 27? Oh and the owner is a level two isg certified sommelier so I am pretty sure she knows her stuff when it comes to wine and prices. Do us all a favor Richard and stick to eating out at Chilis, Applebees and on special occasions possibly Saltgrass or Outback, Im sure there right up your overweight, give me more food, diet coke drinking, consumer driven alley. Please save your "But the economy, the economy" rebuttles for your other Supersize me friends. All I can tell you is that value is a perception my friend and obviously you did not perceive how much value was truly ingrained in your dining experience at Bin 303. Therefore you fail at life because you are obviously the miserable, overweight, grumpy guy whos diet coke is never refilled fast enough and simply can NEVER find a decent place to eat besides fast food corporate America joints because those other places dont offer 1 dollar value menus. PWNED.

Good god this place is horrible. Was told an hour wait. After waiting an hour in a loud and highly crowded bar area, oh and everyone is sweating because it is so hot, I was told another 15 minutes. After 15 minutes was told we are next - I asked how long, was told 20 minutes. So then after the 20 minutes we were told the kitchen was on hold because there were too many tickets and they could not keep up. I asked to speak to the owner because after speaking to the manager he offered a round of drinks... this was simply insulting to us we are set to spend $200.00 on dinner, clearly money isnt important... We leave and the owner does come out. First, she claimed the hostesses were new... except I saw this hostess the time we came before so I knew that was a lie. Then she said she is new to setting the board... who does that on a super busy night? Then she claimed I yell at the "girls" which I found offensive again because I did not yell at all and two Hostesses were women in college, not "girls." She offered to comp our meal which again we found offensive... I dont need money, we had a limited window of time and had we known it was going to be a 2 hour wait or 1.5 hour wait we would have left... Also, the fire marshal should probably venture in on a Friday night at the bar area... it was quite crowded and I felt like cattle... turn the air down at least.... we left and went to the Fatted Calf... no wait and had a delicious steak. This place lacks any professional management or logistics... seriously... this place would never compete in dallas proper. Just a reminder to me to stay out of rockwall.
