I have been here twice and my experience has been great. I always stick to the basic ordering of the beef soon tofu soup. A lot spicier than what Im used to but still superb, a perfect dish for a rainy day. My boyfriend usually orders the spicy chicken but I, personally, think its okay. He ordered the spicy pork this time and it was great! A must-try, for sure. The sides served here are my absolute favorite because I tend to only like about 1-2 sides at other Korean restaurants. But, if youre a fan of fish cakes, dont have any expectations for it being a staple side dish as it is at other places. It doesnt hurt to ask just to make sure they dont have it that day. Itll probably end up being my go-to Korean restaurant over Chang Jing just because the service is A1, food is great, and I love the atmosphere of a small, family-owned restaurant. Definitely worth a try.

This place just opened up - its very classy and elegant. My family ate dinner here recently - great service, superb food, and terrific waitstaff. Its independently operated, offering both Korean and Japanese food. Its one of those hidden places thats not flashy from outside, but once you step inside, youre glad you did. They even have a sushi bar with a master chef. A very clean and very well laid out restaurant with nice music (I usually like places with nice music - check out my other reviews). Nice atmosphere, nothing overdone, and I do plan on returning. As Ive mentioned elsewhere, I like to support family owned businesses, not lifeless corporate machines.

For starters, the squid salad was good, however the seafood pancake was mediocre, too oily and lack of flavor, mostly green onions, in other words avoid it. The tofu with kimchi wasnt that good either, my wife could not tell me why or what, but something was missing. The hot stone rice with beef, was a miss too. Simply put this restaurant started with 4 stars (miss the fifth after looking at the prices in the menu) and ended with just 2 stars. Maybe it was just a bad day for the cook, but I dont know how is this place reviewed at 4 stars right now. P.s.We were charged for the food we returned.(seafood pancake)

Service was really slow, our drinks were never refilled nor were the small little side dishes or rice. We had to go up to the desk to pay. The soup was just a little too spicy and the egg was over cooked overall not too bad. But compared to other places Ive been this place just really pales in comparison. I never make reviews but Ive never had such kind of service. Maybe they were just really understaffed but the older lady that always walks around just looked at our empty drinks and empty rice bowls and walked on not caring. Just not good service.

Dawon is an excellent Korean restaurant with a fairly diverse menu within the category. The food is quite flavorful and the portions (for lunch at least) were huge. I had a box lunch and was pleased to see it include 6 sample bowls of different kimchi varieties, a bowl of steamed rice and a large bowl of soup. All of this for around $10. The staff was friendly and attentive, yet casual. Overall the decor was nice/well suited, but needs refreshing in places. All in all a great experience and I heartily recommend Dawon. 4.5 of 5

Been twice, both times the place was packed for lunch, but service was reasonably swift. First time, I was a noob so I ordered a bulgogi box. Seemed harmless enough. It was very good, as were all the accompaniments that came with. As we got our food the waitress hollered "Eat Kimchi! Live Longer!" What a hoot! Second time I got the Bibim Bab, A huge bowl of rice with veggies and all kinds of goodness. Waddled out stuffed for very little money. Awesome place, great service.

Love this place! The food is very flavorful and the side dishes are spectacular. Compared to a place like Jin Mi, Da Won wins for the sides. Rarely will you get slow and horrible service, they try their best. Price wise, can be expensive depending on what you get and how much of I you get. Great place to go to after school! Literally a block from my school so I go there very often. If you ever have problems, ask to see Simon (the owners son, also the head chef).

Easily the best Korean place for me. The small details are done right, which is a big deal considering that there are so many Korean restaurants in the area. Details like using fresh seafood and not over-frying the tempura. The sides are consistently good. On top of that the quantity is amazing. If you go with friends, definitely opt for the family combo (the ones that mention the amount of people its for). The service can be slow ( I personally dont mind).

Have to go out of my way to rate this place. Ive only eaten here twice but the flavor of the food is very good. Ive had the yook kae jjang and pork soon tu boo and both were seasoned to my liking. Side dishes were decent too. If youre wanting Korean food, you should try this place out. Btw, lunch is busy and they are understaffed but they seem to do their best to get food out in a timely manner.

Not the best Korean food I have tasted. Food was also a bit oily. Not as many condiments as you would find in places like Koryo Kalbi. Quality of the meat was good but wasnt as good as Koryo Kalbi. Prices were much lower though making this more reasonable for smaller groups or couples. Service was quick. Staff were hospitable. Easy to find a place to park and get a table.

GREAT SUSHI. THE OWNER IS A MASTER SUSHI CHEF. DINING WAS AN EYE POPPING EXPERIENCE! WONDERFUL KOREAN FOOD TOO. VERY PLEASANT ATMOSPHERE FOR BIRTHDAY PARTIES AND OTHER FUNCTIONS. THEY PLAY GOOD MUSIC INCLUDING CONTEMPORARY JAZZ. THE PRICE IS VERY REASONABLE AND FRIENDLY STAFF! I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE HIGHLY. SUNNY H.

Food is delicious, so are the side veggies. Nice portions. The kal bi (BBQ shortribs), bulgogi, fried squid and tempura udon are yummy. The sushi is not bad either. The service has always been good every time we dine (6 times in the past 2 months!). This coming from an Asian who appreciates good Asian food.

My familys favorite is the fried pumpkin side dish. Its the reason my daughter and husband always insist on coming here over other Korean restaurants. They give you plenty of other yummy side dishes too. Weve enjoyed every dish weve tried. The service is friendly and they hustle too.

great little korean place! plaza is a bit dead, but their restaurant is pretty authentic for a reasonable price. staff is super friendly too! seafood pancake and japchae for apps, any stew or noodle dish is good. best part imo is their barchan selection that comes with every meal!

My wife and I tried Dawon for the first time two weekends ago. We came back again last weekend. The restaurant is clean. The food is good and fresh. The waiters and waitresses were friendly but the service was a little slow. Other than that, 2 thumbs up!

Wait staff is great, attentive and the food has never let us down. We order close to 30 times a year and dine in about 5 times. Gal bee tang and the do ga nee tang are our go tos. Bu dae ji gae, youk gae jang, and the combo for two are honerable mentions.
