My wife and a couple of friends went here for New Years Eve. where to start? The main problem was they sold us a bottle of champagne that was on special, as they told us. When my wife asked how much the bottle was, the manager said that the bottle "wasnt that bad". No further information was offered even though we asked directly how much it was. Turns out, they charged us for a 200 dollar bottle!! Thats the absolute most expensive thing they sell!!!! We felt robbed and lied to. How is 200 dollars "not that bad"? We brought it up to the manager, she stuck to her guns and said, "yeah, its not that bad". She basically slapped us in the face by a half hearted gift of cheap wine and a 40 dollar gift certificate. We wanted our money back, or a monetary discount. Not stupid, cheap gifts that only benefit us by going back there. Also, it took the staff 30 mins to bring out salads. They were slow over all. The food was good, but even with the bribe of a gift cert, we will not be returning to this restaurant. It was 100% because the manager first lied to us, then insulted us. Just to bring this to perspective, my wife and I split a 50 dollar 4 course meal. The champagne was 4 times as expensive as the meal. And the manager never offered to disclose the price. To us, "not that bad" meant under 100 dollars. Not something that quadruples our ticket!!! And she never apologized.

The River House Tea Room changed hands August 2016. Chef Carol opened it about 16 years ago and had a wonderful business and following. She decided to open the Buttermilk and sell the Tea Room. Ross Wilkinson bought it and dropped Tea Room from the name, now it is River House. Ross is dedicated to create a wonderful environment and an unmatched dining experience. All of his food is procured as local as possible, organic, and always fresh. He not only has changed the menu, he has changed the look. A new paint scheme inside and out, removing the table cloths, expanding the outdoor seating, and adding an outside bar and garden have really made a difference. Looks arent the only thing Ross has changed, he has somehow pulled off getting renowned Chef Collin Campion to come on board to finish out the Trifecta of Atmosphere, Great Food, and Reasonable prices. Oh did I mention the wine menu, Ross has very good taste in wine, and that is what he serves. The wait staff love their work, you can tell just by being there, we highly recommend it, especially since we eat there quite often, fresh, tasty, and priced right is hard to beat now a days. Closed on Mondays, Dinner Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and lunch everyday.

This place is awful. The service is terrible by the staff. I planned a very expensive shower here, they were nothing but nonaccommodating and flat out RUDE! I can not express how much they ruined this special event. Everyone was disappointed. This was an important event and the ridiculous staff/manager of the restuarnt ruined this for a whole family. These are memories that can not be returned or given back. Learn what it means to run a restuarnt and how to have customer service. I would take this place to small claims court if it were not for the time and effort. Please save your money and time! Go somewhere down the street!!

It is hard to believe that we ate in the same restaurant these people are talking about. It is a charming setting with lovely people. However, my sandwich was nothing but two slices of white bread with meat and chopped raw onion and a pepper. Better sandwiches come from the grocery deli counter. Also, overpriced ($10) and you dont even get anything on the side other than a few tortilla chips (the same ones you get free everywhere else). My friend had a jalapeno burger that was nothing more than a regular pressed burger with jalapenos on the side! What is that? Overall, overpriced and fairly tasteless. Go somewhere else!!!!!!

The staff was nice and attentive, dut we did have to prompt our waiter to take our order after a slight disappearance. I cant give it five stars due to the fact that it took over 30min to get my sald and an hour to get our food.. theres nothing more maddening that watching a train of food heading out the door of this place to walk up costumers when you have a reservation and are the first to be seated and order min later. May need to rethink your chicken fried steak real chewy and bland. This is my first review for this place but Ive been a patron of this place for 4yrs. May be its just a one off experience.

Great location, friendly staff, overrated and expensive considering the quality of food. It was great sitting out on the patio, but when the food arrived the lamb was raw. It was not "medium rare" as the chef proclaimed it to be. No worries though, the waitress brought it back and they "up cooked" it. But for $34 I could get a steak at a good restaurant that not only tasted better, but was also cooked right the first time. Sad to say but I probably wont be back only because for $100 I better be wowwed by the food and have zero issues and this place just couldnt deliver.

Just browsing around some restaurants nearby and wanted to try something new. The menu has good choices. However, I got their specials, roasted red pepper soup, chefs croissant, and pecan praline cheesecake. We sat outside at nice cozy patio with shade and adorable cats around. It was so nice and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and quick service. The food is homestyle with reasonable prices. More visits from me to come. Recommend to anyone that wants delicious food in a peaceful setting

Why this place is called a tea room is past me. Ok you have tea, a true tea room would have a much larger variety and not iced, serve proper tea food ,finger sandwiches ,scones and not burgers and stale tortillas chips for $15 . Just because, you went to cooking school got a degree and are a member of a culinary society any chef can pay to get into doesnt give you the right to call your bistro a tea room.

I have been eating at this restaurant for 5 to 6 years and I have never had a bad meal. Sometimes they do get a little crowded because the food is so good and there will be a wait. However, I have never had bad service here either. Everything on the menu is good. It is not over priced but not an inexpensive place to dine. You get what you pay for. I love the atmosphere.

Been here numerous times both before and after the ownership change. Never had a bad experience. Its simply one of the best restaurants in town. Service has always been great. Even though were not dessert people, we usually take home some of their delicious cheesecake. Ditto what a previous reviewer said about their burgers. The jalapeno burger is a thing of beauty!

Had a wonderful fresh mediterranean salad and raspberry tea. The tea was refreshing on a very hot day in Texas. My children tried the peach and strawberry soup with sweet cornbread. It was chilled and also satiated their need for a sweet as well as something refreshing. Very nice atmosphere, and our service was fantastic. Highly recommend.
