My son (4 years old) and I entered the establishment wanting to place an order to go. The girl at front directed us to the bar. My son enthusiastically sat on a stool next to me as we patiently waited our turn. The bartender, with a sexual enuendo written on her shirt came up to us, and I told her I was placing an order to go. She took my order,THEN told me that I could not be there with a minor. I disagreed jokingly, "I am his father, I did not realize the laws have changed concerning this." So, in front of everyone, I had to turn to my son, and explain to him that we had to move. We went back up to the front to wait, and I Googled the state law. Sure enough, we were lawfully in our right. But it can be policy. The bartender did not even bother to take our drink order. She interrupted the food order, and asked us to leave. It was so distracting and such a surprise, that I even forgot. The overpriced food was a huge disappointment. Everything was too salty. My wifes was so salty, that she only took two bites, even though she was very hungry. We ended up going down the road for drinks at Sonic. The rest of the day, my wife suffered from the saltiness, and could not eat another thing. I joke now that there is this wonderful bbq place to eat, but my wife does not seem to think that is funny, because we paid a lot of money for terribly subpar food, and she suffered.

Ellis County BBQ did a FANTASTIC job catering our daughters wedding reception! The menu was brisket, chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, pinto beans and green beans. Everything was cooked to perfection, and there was more than enough for our 250 guests. They brought large electric warmers to keep all the food nice and hot so even the last person in line got great food. The brisket in particular was very, very good. Each pan was a mixture of sliced and chopped meat so guests could choose, and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The owners were very helpful in working with us to come up with a menu that worked for our budget and style. I highly recommend Ellis County BBQ for catering your next event - you will be impressed with the food and service, and youll get rave compliments from your guests.

As an avid BBQ lover and knowing great BBQ (Pecan Lodge, Lockharts, Harris), this place is just, meh. Its not bad, but its not great either. The burgers are decent, but you might as well go to Branded or Hideout for better stuff. Every side dish I have tried here has been of a lower quality, which brings down the entire dish. Even classics non-bbq stuff like chicken fried steak was just ok. I would rather have something from Texas Roadhouse than this place.. That said, its better BBQ than the smokehouse bbq in the Shell station, but thats not saying much. If you really dont feel like driving to mansfield (steak, etc.) or waxahachie (harris bbq) this would work in a pinch, but after you eat here, you kindof wish you had gone to the better places.

First visit. Had part of their brisket burger. Thinking they spilt the seasoning salt in it. So salty I could not eat it. Asked waitress if theyre normally that salty and she replied I dont think so, I dont know, then brought me the check. Haha on me I guess. Brought 3/4 of this waste of 10 bucks home to give to my 2 dogs and one of them wouldnt even eat their share! Never going back!!!

A decent, if relatively plain restaurant. The decor is just about nonexistent, but there are multiple television propped up to distract you from this, and they do the job pretty well. Ive been a number of times and ordered a few different things from the menu, and they all were pretty tasty.

Had an enormous baked potato with pulled pork on it. The pork was kind of dry. My son had what he thought was pretty good brisket on his. The chalk board said they had blackberry cobbler and I ordered some only to find out they didnt. A fairly lackluster dining experience, all in all.

Weve been coming here for a long time and the food is awesome. Last Thanksgiving we bought a smoked turkey and OMG, the meat fell off the bone. Best turkey Ive ever had. I bring clients and family here all the time because I get the credit for knowing where to find great food.

Great customer service, loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, and easily the best BBQ in the town, if not the area. Meats were tender and moist, sides were delicious, and the sauce is amazing. Will be the only place we go for BBQ from now on.

Barbecue is just...barbecue. Nothing special. Hot links have no spice to them they just taste like sausage and the skin is chewy like bubble gum. The okra isnt even crunchy and tastes plain. The only thing that I liked was the barbecue sauce!

Hometown casual dining restaurant. Nice atmosphere; friendly staff and tasty food. The smoked chicken salad is wonderful and the ribs are great too! For the sports fans, they have a sports bar too.

Solid BBQ and the sauce is not bad. The service is hit & miss especially when the owners are not there as they keep the wait staff on their toes and taking care of the customers.

Not bad at all. Kinda upscale bbq. But if you leave hungry, its your own fault. Service is very friendly. Can get crowded, and there may be a wait for a table in the evenings.
