Shanghai Inn is a great hole in the wall restaurant! The interior is nice and the atmosphere is casual. The restaurant is large enough to seat several families (including the beloved grandparents). The employees are both attentive and amiable! The menu has many options including lunch specials and customizable plates. The best part? The food is authentic! I know this because the restaurant is owned by a Chinese family. In addition, the portions are surprisingly large for the prices. On Sundays, they even have a buffet from 11 am to 3 pm. My mother and I love having a Sunday brunch at this place after mass. My one and only issue is that delivery is unfortunately after 5 pm. However, my way of thinking is if this place is on the way home from work, why not call ahead and pick up my food? The food will be fresh and I can enjoy authentic Chinese food in the comfort of my home! Whats not to love?! My personal favorite dishes are chicken fried rice, shrimp with lobster sauce, and any type of lo mein. My family also loves their crab puffs and enjoys their hot tea.

I went again yesterday for the sunday buffet. nightmare. the human toilet overflowed and this is where it ended up. the people at the buffet are sub-human. there is the guy who takes all the pork dumplings out of the soup leaving only broth for everyone else. there is the woman who yells into her cellphone endlessly. she will also go around the buffet contraflow. did i mention shes big and fat? There is the chinese lady who while at the buffet EATS her way around it. crumbs fall out of her mouth and she should be barred from any food place. At 11:30 the place is swarmed by mexicans and their truckload of brats. it was so bad i complained to a waiter who was well familiar with all of these losers and their disgusting behaviors. Yesterday was my last visit. Ill let the pigs and dregs have the place.

My fiance and I used to patronize this place regularly. Our usual was to order for delivery and have a great meal and spend time in. The food was great and the prices reasonable. Suddenly the owner decides that he doesnt want to provide exceptional customer service and changed the policy on deliveries. Since there are no competitors who will deliver around us, were left with no options for choice. Therefore we will never return to Shanghai Inn, and will happily suggest that others make similar choices. If our business is not wanted, nor appreciated, we can spend our dollars with those places that do appreciate the business.

we have ordered delivery from here multiple times, the food is decent quality depending on what you get. they quote 45 min to an hour for delivery (we live like 3 blocks away) and its almost always over an hour before we get our food. The past two times we have ordered we have gotten the wrong order. tonight while ordering i told them that they got our order wrong last time. THEY MADE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN. I called to have them bring us the wrong food, they told me that they couldnt have it to us within 15 min, we live less than 3 min away, they didnt want to keep our business. Order from somewhere else.

Not sure what everyone else is talking about, but the 2 times me and my wife have put in an order the food has been great! Its nice to find a good Chinese food place right near the house, too. Ive never tried the delivery service, but every time I place a call for pickup everything goes good. Wait time is good, food is good, prices are fair, and the owner (atleast I think he is, older gentleman) seems pretty friendly. And they make the best Chinese soup weve ever had (Shanghai Inn special noodle soup). Cant complain here...

Average American-Chinese food with cheap lunch specials for only $6 - 7! Fast and convenient, not many other Chinese restaurants in the area to choose from. Cant go wrong with an order of Pepper steak, Beef with broccoli, fried rice, or chow mein. All lunch entrees include a bowl of the soup of the day. Lunch menu is available 7 days a week from 11AM - 3PM. Shanghai Inn offers free delivery service for a minimum purchase of $15.

Mediocre at best. i had the General Taos Chicken and was sorely disappointed. It was not spicy at all and very sweet, like maple syrup. The Won Ton noodles in the soup were under cooked, so tasted a lot like flour. I left with a half finished plate. On a bright note, the staff were pleasant and the tea tasted like it was supposed to. BTW, this is not authentic Chinese Food. Head over to China Town (BLTW 8 at Bellaire area)

Shanghai Inn is our go-to Chinese delivery service. We eat-in every so often. The staff is friendly and remembers us, even when weve gone months without appearing. The food is great and the veggies are fresh. Our order has never been delivered incorrect. They delivery on time. Will have to make a special trip for their all you can eat buffet.

Ordered a sesimi chicken plate, the food was great until I bit into a piece of chicken that was a bit chewy, when I ripped open the piece of chicken I could tell it was raw on the inside! Wish that didnt happen since this place is so close to my house and my two year old was eating it as well so hopefully all of the chicken she ate was cooked.

Been going there for years, when the bar was open, and always enjoyed food and drink. however, this year Im very disappointed! Take out was awful, I had to throw it away. Looked like left overs in a to go container. Have they changed owners? Tried it again, but was cold and didnt look or taste fresh. Will never go back!

Love the food here. But lunch service was a bit slow on the last day we went. There was only one server handling the entire restaurant. I still gave it 4-start because I think that might have just been an off day... Ive been here several times before and didnt have a bad experience. FAVORITE DISH: Wuxi Won Ton Soup.

I usually order here 2-3 times week whoever took my oder sound like a younger guy.. first they act like they didnt want to deliver they when they arrived 1 1/2 hours later the food was cold and taste like left overs... he said they didnt deliver til 5 I called at 5 and got this bs never will order from there again

After 25 years the food is still great. Always fresh, seasoned to perfection and lots of it! Tried new places but always came back to Shanghai Inn. Very friendly family atmosphere . You never know who will deliver your order, son, father or uncle. I have never been disappointed.

I order something new each time I go in. They really take pride in their food and preparation. Its not instant chinese food, everything I have eaten there has been excellent. I have never had anythng bad there. I esp like their special friend rice. They have excellent prices too.

Ive been coming to this restaurant with my mother since I was a kid. I moved away for years and recently moved back. Im 31 now. Theres a reason theyre still in business. Their food is great. Its the only Chinese food my father will eat and he cant stand Chinese food.
