--- NK Score = 8.5/10 --- 8/10 = Furniture/Ambience 9/10 = Food Quality 8/10 = Prices/Services (Other Ratings Hidden) _____________________________________________ =( BASIC INFO )= - Cozy, Medium Sized Restaurant - Can Be Busy, Some Waiting - Good Food ( $10.00 - $12.00 ) - Strong Broth Style Ramen - Little Pricy, Decent Service - Average Parking Accessibility _____________________________________________ = Atmosphere = Unique interior design with comfy booths and spacious tables. The place is usually somewhat noisy, but its completely manageable as its just people chatting. The booth is really nice and soft, so definitely get one of those and youll be set. _____________________________________________ = Food Quality = - Tonkotsu Ramen ($10.00): Very strong and delicious broth, possibly packed with sodium, but the overall flavor is generally good. The broth is on the salty side and youll probably start heating up from the soup, so be prepared for that. The scallions, wood ears, egg, and bamboo were all really well made and had good texture, delicious. Also, their Chasiu has an interesting BBQ touch to it, which gave it an amazing unami flavor with a touch of sweetness. The noodles were pretty normal, but when you sum everything up as a whole, this is definitely one amazing bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. _____________________________________________ = Price / Service = The prices here are pretty normal for Ramen, but yes, $10 is still a little costly for most people. Anyways, I believe the price is pretty fair for what you get, a good portion that will definitely fill you up. The service here is pretty good, theyll come by often and help you with anything you need, nice! _____________________________________________ Recommendations: Definitely the Tonkotsu Ramen, its very delicious and heart warming, but do be prepared to brace against the salt cannon! Other than that, this is a must try for anyone that likes quality ingredients mixed with a good bowl of Ramen. - Signed NK (June 2017) - Images below by Jason Lx (NK)

While in Houston this week, I had a craving for mochi (Japanese rice cake), so we went to the Japanese grocer, Seiwa Market. They have these fresh packets of mochi that are soft, chewy, and deliciously filled with red bean. On the way to loading the groceries in the car we noticed Ramen Bar Ichi, and decided to fill our tummies with soup - seriously such a healing food when youre not feeling too well. Its definitely one of my favorite comfort foods. Upon entering you get greeted from across the restaurant. To the right there are booths for seating, and to the left there are tables. The space can be tight for someone with a large stroller, but they do have high chairs if needed. The staff was really down to earth, and I could see them walking around conversing with customers. Overall great experience, with great food, and SO HAPPY to have a ramen joint closer than downtown. My husband and I always want to try as much as our bellies can be stuffed, so we decided to order off the combo menu. This comes with a lunch special set with side and drink, for up to $3.50 less. Some of my favorites: Mini Chasu Bowl, Spicy Ramen

My wife, and I came on a Friday, we were the first costumers to walk in. The place got full in minutes, the waitress helped 3 tables before taking our order. My wife glass of water had some debris floating, notified waitress who apologized and brought another glass. My wife ordered tonkotsu which she said it was ok. I ordered spicy ramen, extra pork, and extra egg. Finally after waiting about 30 minutes (we were the first couple walking in) food arrived. My spicy ramen came with 2 eggs as I ordered an extra egg, but I had to remind the waitress about my extra order of pork, she apologized and brought it when I was finishing up my ramen; Sorry, but this is NOT the best ramen in Houston; the food was good, but not great compared to other ramen restaurants in town. The ambiance was just ok for a Japanese restaurant. I understand that it was a Friday, and the place was busy but the service was poor, ( dirty glass of water, late order).the best was that we had to shop at the Japanese market next door. I will definitively will drive a little long to get better food and service

First time here. Our waitress didnt speak great English, and she kept rushing us to order. The appetizer I got tasted slightly good, but the ramen was horrible! The soup had a layer of oil "fat", and the smell that came off the ramen smelled like hair dye. I couldnt even finish my ramen because of the hair dye scent coming from it. This place was just overrated and nothing great. You also have to pay a extra dollar for the soft boil egg, most ramen places give it to you with your order. My favorite ramen place to go to is still Jinya Ramen.

I love this place, I mean I love their ramen broth it is supreme in my humble opinion. If theyll make their own noodles I think Itll be the best in Houston. Although, Im not giving 5 stars do to the kitchen attitude. Otherwise, Id give it a 5. Pros: Waiters have been always pretty good, place is comfy and clean, ramen is excellent, prices are about the same of similar places. Cons: Not ramen taken out, cooks funny and staring at women, and last time I went broth wasnt hot enough as a consequence bamboo was cold.

Ive been here twice. Best broth Ive had in Houston, its a close race between this broth and tatsuyas broth. Cant decide which I like more. The chashu here though, definitely the best out of any other ramen place Ive been to. Will be coming back for more soon. Second time I went, there was a little delay on my Tsukemen, but the staff was very attentive, kept us informed, apologized for the wait and even gave us a free appetizer. It was well worth the wait, cant recommend this place enough.

Really great Ramen. I liked that the bamboo didnt have a bitter taste like some other places. Broth was rich and creamy, but not overly heavy. It was just right. The Ajitama was AMAZING tasting, and cooked just right to gelled perfection. We also got the fried chicken, which was good, but I would get the mayo sauce one next time. Cool atmosphere, they had dubstub playing not too loud in the background. This place feels a little more authentic than a few others food style wise.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! They are currently soft open so the business hrs is 11am to 3pm!! Please be there early to beat the crowd! The place is decent size and cozy! We waited about 15 mins to get table, they took our order quickly and brought out food promptly as well. I love their soup, creamy and not salty! Very similar to the one i had in LA, they also speaks Japanese in the kitchen! I almost thought i was in Japan! *Bonus points*

Excellent Ramen bar with great atmosphere. It is a very hip and funky Ramen bar that just makes some excellent Ramen. When I walked in I appreciated the quickness of service and the excellent surroundings. However I enjoy my Ramen the most above all other things. The broth made this soup. It was just excellent and had a good kick to it. I will be coming back to the west side of town for this little hideaway spot.

A little disappointed.. I got the Tonkotsu ramen.. It was alright - not great.. the broth was a little salty, ramen texture was a little off, but the sliced pork was very good.. Get the extra pork since they only give you 2 pieces (I read some reviews that they typically have 3 pieces) - not sure... I will come back and get the spicy ramen and give them one more try. Overall 3.5 star out of 5.
