Im not saying its the BEST Korean food. Im not even saying its the most authentic Korean. What Im saying is its 4 minutes from my job. Its not a McDonalds or a Taco Bell. And its pretty darn good (compared to other restaurants in the area) - for the price. Ive only had quick service Korean food at H-Mart, and I think H-marts is a tad bit better. The prices here are reasonable, most things being around $8. Im always at a loss whenever dealing with authentically Asian people... so this is how my conversation went when I ordered: me: "I dont know which one to get between the bulgogi and the bibimbap" woman: "Totally different." me: "Does the bulgogi have a lot more meat?" woman: "Uh, yes, of course." me: *looking like an idiot, and very ashamed for looking so Asian and not knowing* The food was quick and pretty tasty. My favorite part of the bulgogi are the little burnt fatty ends *wriggles like a little piggy*. The kim chi tasted very young - not sour, not spicy, and pretty salty, therefore, I really didnt care for it. Their little side salad is pretty tasty though. For anyone complaining about portion size, remember this... Just because a place resides in Texas does not mean it has to offer pilesomeat, giant salads that swim in a pool of dressing, or a serving of rice that could feed a whole Asian family for a week. I was satisfied with the portions and even left most of my rice to die on the table. Kimchis is a great option for lunch if youre working in the area... Now if they would just get some better kimchi! I mean, that is their name after all, right?

Without sounding too much like a Korean food snob....I have to say that 3-stars is actually better than I was expecting when I ventured inside. If you live on the west end of Houston in the Katy area AND cant venture into the Spring Branch-Blaylock area, this is a decent substitute. And thats the one thing it has going for it -- no competition west of the Hwy 6. Its always nice to see 4 or 5 older Korean ladies working hard in the kitchen area behind the counter. The menu board above the ordering station looks quite authentic, and it actually raised my expectations that maybe the food is going to be better than I expected. Service was better-than-average, but thats often a clue that things probably arent going to taste as good -- lets face it, Korean foodies know that good service and good food are typically inversely related! ;) For a Korean place that has Kimchi in the name, I was hoping for some more variety of kimchi fixins on the side -- what they offered was tasty, but I doubt most of their customers eat that much anyways. And I hope they dont lose too much business having Kimchi in the title -- the friend I met for lunch was really nervous that this was all they were going to serve. Something like Katy Korean Cafe would probably go over better.

I had to put 1 star because its the lowest on here but it really should be without a single star. Food was over priced, kitchen looked dirty, still decided to give it a chance since the reviews on here said "great Korean food" ... Well the food was awful I couldnt even eat the plain white rice, the miso soup looked like it had been sitting there all day and the noodles with chicken I got were the worst thing ever...I have never seen brown noodles before. Now I have the worst food poisoning ever...absolutely do not recommend. Im posting a REAL review... Now that I think of it I didnt even see an inspection license for the restaurant.

This little restaurant is on the way home from work for me, and ever since discovering it, I stop by at least twice a month. The food is simply wonderful, and VERY fairly priced. If you go to other Korean restaurants in town, youll see how low cost this place is. I especially recommend the kimchi fried rice with pork. You get a large portion of pork, rice, kimchi, and even a fried egg on top plus soup. All for $8. Compare with other places that charge $15+ per entree. Also I think this is the only Korean place in or near Katy, great for me since I live all the way past grand pkwy on I-10. Overall, highly recommended!!

Ive been to this place around 10 times and have had good experiences each time. Unfortunately, I just had a really bad experience. I basically convinced my friend to try this place and it was terrible. The food came out 45 minutes after we ordered. It was gross, salty... inedible. He complained to the staff after his order was not as expected and they just said, "sorry". He wanted me to get my money back and i should have, but did not. I wont return and urge you to find a better place to go. Hours later I still feel like I have a ball of salt in my mouth and cant wash it out...

The mother / daughter running the place are extremely personable and friendly and the food is always delicious. I think Ive gotten through most of the menu by now and my favorite is definitely the bi bim bop. The pork bulgogi or kim chi rice are close followers though. Prices range from 8 to 12 dollars a dish, most include a side of salad and kim chi. While youre there make sure to try the aloe drink. Its the surprisingly refreshing and tasty. Located in the drink cooler against the northern wall. Green bottle, has a safari-ish guy on it. Youll be glad you did.

Consistently good. I greatly enjoy the spicy number 7, Kimchi fried rice bokum bap. Its a large hearty serving of rice mixed with Kimchi covered with chicken or pork in a very spicy red sauce , topped with a fried egg. The Kimchi lends flavor and crunchy texture to the rice. It arrives at the table sizzling away happily in an iron pan. For a lighter option I like the broiled mackerel or the spicy stir fried cuttlefish. Its a small restaurant and can get very crowded at lunch. The couple of times Ive been there for dinner it has been almost empty.

This place has the best service Ive ever received anywhere. Kind, attentive, informative. The hostess cheerfully answered all my questions about Korean food (since it was our first time having it). The kimchi with pork was delicious and flavorful and very spicy! It was a chilly day and she was kind enough to put the heater by us without even being asked. My boyfriend and I ended up staying for a few hours just chatting and enjoying the atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting again!

After a new owner take over recently the food taste awesome! The place is so much cleaner and the price is so much cheaper than other Korean restaurants. Maybe because they dont give you 10 side dishes, but the food is so good!! I wish this restaurant was closer to home. I have to drive a little over an hour almost every weekend to eat here.
