If I could give ZERO (0) stars I would. I brought some friends here who BTW didnt like it either. They only complained to me, although I brought my concerns to management who didnt care at all. First off, I didnt get what I actually ordered which was a simple Beef and Shrimp fajitas. However, the sub plate I received included Shrimp, Beef and Chicken for 21.95. Which is what the menu said...next to that price it said All Beef $2. Now mind you I didnt get all beef, I only got Shrimp and Beef. 2ndly, I had to send the beef back bc it was overcooked to the point of crispiness. When I did bring it to the managers attention. He advised bc I didnt get the chicken I was charged $2 for extra beef, although I didnt get extra beef. Well if I didnt get 1 less meat, shouldnt you be subtracting from the $21.95 and not adding to it? (Not really, I expected the $21.95...but not the extra $2 charge) DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE!!! Manager not willing to comp the $2 at all. So I will not be back and would suggest NO ONE else go either. The chips are super salty and the salsa is bland. They try to have a green sauce but no where near as good as others. STAY CLEAR OF this place as they DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS>>>ONLY THE MIGHTY $$$$. Which is why I guess they came to this country in the first place!!! And it shows.

My husband and I are regular guests at El Palenque for over 2 years. Food is just like homemade - REALLY delicious and fresh cooked. Portions are huge and Margaritas are outstanding. My personal favorites are Pollo Loco and Hugos Special. Atmosphere is very ethnic and in the same time unbelievably welcoming for people of any nation. Tables and chairs are comfortable and whole area is very clean. Staff is well trained, parking is always available, prices are cheaper than in Escalantes or Pappasitos and less crowded as well. By any meaning, if you do like Mexican cuisine I dont see how you could not like El Palenque.

Worst service ever! Servers are rude and are liars! Tried to order a margarita and they told me it was closed .... Liars! I will never go there again.... Have been going for years and have better service at the spring location .... The westheimer location is a hot mess! I have never been so disrespected at a place in my life..... Thats why they have no business! La Finca down the street is much better and the waiters are super friendly.... A little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.... El Palenque Westhimer has lost yet another costumer.... And they cant afford that!!!!!

The food is pretty good. The service is absolutely awful. We ordered two fajita dinners to go. Got a total of 6 tortillas. Six tortillas - for four people! We ordered extra guacamole. Didnt receive it. When I called the manager, Adriana, on the phone she said "Well, I didnt charge you for it anyway." No chips included with the order. Got the salsa, no chips. No apology. No effort to make amends. I dont care how good the food is. The service is the worst Ive encountered in Houston.

The food was fresh, authenic and the portions were generous. The atmosphere reminded me of a restaurant near my former home in Mexico. Beautiful. With all that it was the service that prompted me to write this. Everyone worked together to make sure my visit was pleasant. Seriously it was the best service I have ever received in the three and a half years. I have lived here. I am definitely going to go back. I just left there and cant wait to go back.

Just OK. Chips taste store bought. Salsa is thick with cilantro which I dont like. Meat, both beef and chicken, have no seasoning. Sick to the cheese enchiladas. Rice is good. Beans are hit or miss depending on the visit. Service is almost always poor, not terrible but not attentive either. Overpriced for what you get. I would put it along the lines of a Casa Olé, or Montereys Little Mexico, though both of them are better by a mild margin.

Menu prices at the restaurant are waaaaay more than google menu prices. Ordered Togo on a Friday evening around 7:30-8:00pm based on prices from google maps menu of this place for $9.55. When I got there to pick up my order the burrito was $16 before tax. I was told (had to get a server to translate bc the hostess didnt know enough English) no manager was there. I was also told the owner didnt care enough to change the pricing with google.

My wife and I went to the place to have dinner but were told that my shirt, a brand new sleeveless t-shirt was unacceptable attire and we would not be admitted. The woman that confronted us was rude and embarrassed us both. The food, the staff, and the restaurant have gone completely downhill. We will not be returning. The restrooms are filthy and the floor of the mens is usually wet with sink water and urine.

Chips, though warm, taste like store bought. Salsa, though warm, tastes like warmed up and seasoned Pace picante. Margarita on the rocks was VERY watery, stick with the frozen. Frozen margarita was great. Dinner was OK, not bad, just OK. Overall, not an authentic Mexican dinner, too chain-mexican tasting for what I expected to find in Texas (Im from IL).

My wife and I went here because I wanted Mexican food. The wait staff were very quiet and hard to understand. The atmosphere was mediocre. The food was terrible. Fast food Mexican is tastier, cheaper and better prepared. My fajita meat was over cooked, and hard to chew. I did not try any margaritas, however the other patrons seemed to be enjoying them.

We were over charged. The flower tortillas were raw from my chicken enchiladas the strawberry jumbo Margarita was very small for $10. The service was horrible. When we spoke to manager about our concern, manager was rude and had the audacity say food is not raw even though she could clearly see it was not eadabl. I had to pay $51 and left hungry.

Have eaten here many times over the past 6 years. Used to live within walking distance and was a frequent diner, but still work in the area and visit for lunch. Usually sit at the bar and have the Nacho Palenque and the chips and salsa are good as well. Service is always good, atmosphere is good, clean facility.
