Because the Creek group of restaurants is so popular in the area, this was one of our first (and worst) experiences in the neighborhood. Atmosphere = * Parking is provided on 20th Street and Bevis Street plus (TIP) an additional parking lot can be found at Bevis and 19th Street. The outdoor patio may be as big as the parking lot, wrapping around three sides of the building to fit plenty of tables. There’s an outdoor bar that appears to be functional, but never open. The inside dining area is large, but so full of tables that it feels crowded when it’s empty. Matching the number of seats in the room is the number of posters and signs hanging from the walls. If you’re a fan of Austin, you’ll appreciate the art; if you’re a fan of Houston, it may make you nervous. Although I’ve seen staff wandering between tables, I can’t say that table service is offered. To be safe, order food or a drink from the long bar inside. The indoor and outdoor spaces are large enough to accommodate a group, but you’ll need to ask that a “Reserved” sign is printed and put on each table. No special seating is provided; no seating can be reserved. The restrooms in the back hall are generally clean, but two stalls can get crowded quickly. Service = On our first visit, I ordered food and a glass of wine from the bartender. Considering that it was 9:00 and the menu had a printed request for patience, I was at least warned that our burgers may be slow in coming, although ours was the only table with a number for food. Forty minutes later, our burgers were delivered. Cold. And so were the fries. All of them. With no line in the kitchen, the wait and the temperature were without excuse. On our next visit, I skipped the food and the heartache. We entered and made a beeline to the bar where I stood, waiting for the bartender to look up from her phone; she finally surfaced and old me to let her know when I was ready, which I had been. She served us one round, without a tip. My other experiences haven’t been so defining, but certainly followed the precedent of unfriendliness and unprofessionalism. Food = As I mentioned, my first food experience here was as bad as it gets. I can say that, while I ate my cold burger, I imagined it would have tasted very good warm. I haven’t tested this. On a more recent visit with a group of coworkers, I tried the frickles (fried pickles), artichoke dip, and pig fries (with pulled pork and cheese). The fried pickles and artichoke dip seemed homogenized, if not recently frozen. I can’t imagine that either dish was actually “cooked” in house. The pig fries are a great concept, one that I plan to use one day. The pork didn’t have much taste; the attempt to seduce us with pork fat was lackluster. Regarding drinks, there are decent selections of wine, beer in bottles and on tap. I don’t recommend ordering a cocktail, probably not even an easy standard; stick with drinks and shots instead. The one menu item here that I can’t speak negatively of is the frozen mimosa. A 20 ounce pint glass full is $7.00, will last almost an hour, and feels like three mimosas. Value = The cost of anything isn’t my complaint; it’s the quality. With the frozen mimosa standing as the only exception, everything else is simply not worth the money.

Ah Cedar Creek, probably my favorite bar/restaurant in the Heights. This place has everything, great food, tons of seating (both outdoors and inside) and good drink specials during the week. Every time the weather is nice this is my go to place for hanging out with friends. Its a very laid back atmosphere. For food, my favorites are the catfish basket and the pico wrap. Im not normally a fan of wraps or ground turkey but once I tried the pico wrap I was hooked. Its delicious and still makes you feel like youre not eating a ton of greasy food (whether or not its actually healthy is up for debate). They have a ton of other options and great (huge) salads as well if youre trying to eat healthier. For drinks my go to is the country-ass tea. Its basically a frozen sweet tea drink and its definitely tasty when hanging out outside in the heat. They also have your standard draft and bottled drinks along with a full bar. I dont really have anything negative to say about the place. Sometimes it gets really busy when the weather is nice but they seem to handle large crowds well. Id recommend it to anyone looking for a fun place to hang out with friends or have a quality meal that wont break your budget.

I love Cedar Creek! Best outdoor patio bar in Houston! I went to school in Austin and this place reminds me of Austin and the hill country. They have great drink specials and happy hours throughout the week. The food is good, I usually go with a traditional burger when Im there. Mondays they have 50 cent wings on special and I think $4 queso. Sorry I dont have all the days specials memorized! :) Try their frozen ice tea - its so good and dangerously potent! As for service here, if its your first time, dont be confused.. you order at the bar, food too! They will give you a number and you can find a table of your choice - indoors or outdoors. The service is pretty quick and the servers are all friendly. If you want water or to go boxes they are inside by the bar, self service! The only thing I will say I am not crazy about is that I generally leave smelling like campfire smoke every time I leave (in the winter). Other than that, its a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy a few drinks, and grab dinner! Makes for a nice casual evening!

The manager at This Bar and Grill is A JOKE, My husband and I visited this Bar and Grill, the next day after realizing we were double charge I called the manager Dwayne to find out (why) He stated it was the banks fault but then he went on to say he get about 12 to 15 calls per day about the same problem.( Hint Hint) He Replied Please ask for him on our next visit there to make sure it didnt happen again. On our next visit there I asked to speak with him, per his request. When he came over to our table 15 minutes later he was Very unprofessional and rude I asked him to dismiss his self from our table. Being a Friday I called the Corporate office on Monday about this problem . I have Not heard from them as of yet 30 days and counting.... So If you want BAD service visit this BAR and Grill . If you want Good service go somewhere else ........

Had our car broken into while we waited about 1.5 hours for the food to arrive. Apparently, car burglary is common in the parking lots affiliated with Cedar Creek because theyve hired ineffective "security guards" to patrol the lots. In addition, although the waitresses and bartenders were nice, you were lucky if they noticed you were there waiting to order food/drinks. It took 20 mins to get a round of drinks at the bar and 45 minutes for the waitress to even notice we had sat down. The food is good but not worth the wait. Dine here at your own risk and dont arrive hungry. You might even want to consider leaving your car unlocked with the windows down (even though there are signs advising otherwise) so if someone does want to steal your stuff, hopefully they wont have to smash your car windows to get to it.
