The ceviches at Aji are quite different from others in town, much more creamy and with vibrant pink and purple colors. Causa limeña with its layers of avocado, potatoes, chicken salad, hard-boiled eggs, olives, and aji amarillo could easily be ones entire meal and mixes a lot of my favorite items in one dish. A surf and turf special offers lomo saltado and spicy seafood on a bed of tacu tacu. The lomo saltado was very tender and not overly acidic as some others in town. The spicy seafood tasted almost like a creamy Italian tomato-based risotto. There are a selection of fruit smoothies with exotic fruit flavors like guanabana and lucuma that were refreshing. All of the portioning is very generous, so plan to share with several people if you would like a larger selection without having to carry home a lot of leftovers. The weekend crowd had a lot of South Americans who started dining a little later than the typical American crowd. My main criticism of the restaurant is that the online menu is out of date. Many of the house specialty items listed on the online menu are nowhere to be found on the restaurant menu, and its unclear if the vegan option to substitute tofu for cheese is available.

I didnt know what to expect approaching the cafe. There are so many small restaurants in town promising good food from other countries but turn out to be dirty and less than satisfying to say the least. With no knowledge of Peruvian food I went with a friends recommendation of stir fry and a few special drinks. While waiting for the food you will notice everything is quite clean. A peek back into the kitchen indicates a professional chef with its cleanliness. The juice that I ended up with was a passion fruit and was rather good. But the food! The food was plated on a rectangular plate and was nice on the eye. The meat was soft and juicy and covered in a good sauce that was good on both the rice and fries that were served hot alongside the dish. Overall, I would go back for certain.

We ended up at this restaurant by chance, and a very good one at that. Its a small place, in a nondescript strip mall on Kirkwood. But there is nothing boring about the food here. Being a Peruvian place we all ordered sea food and were very happy with it. I got the Pescado Frito (pan seared fish) with fried rice. The fish was fresh, cooked perfectly tender and flavorful. The rice was also spot on. The flavours are balanced and enjoyable. The freshness of the seafood is very distinctive, across the board, in all our dishes. This place is definitely a keeper and will go back soon to try some more of the amazing seafood.

The Empanadas were excellent ( ordered various spinach, beef, Vegetables and Chicken) and so was the ceviche and the Arroz Chifa. Ive been to Peru though it was 18 years ago and eaten in very many good Peruvian restaurants in Chicago and Chiapas Mexico! My only slight complaint was the prices $18 for Arroz Chica with Mariscos and there was some extremely loud live music , too loud for the size of the restaurant. The owners were extremely friendly couple. I highly recommend. We drove all the way nearly an hour from Humble near the airport to eat at this place. The flan peruano and the alfafores were excellent too.

They have the best jalea and ceviche combination in town! The lomo saltado is juicy and tender. The best part is their generous portions just like in Lima. The chicha morada could use a little improvement but all in all my favorite Peruvian restaurant in town. Must mention that to some it may feel a little pricey but you defenitely get what you pay for...money well spent.

They need better Customer Service when Answering the phone. I was going to place an order over the phone and once I heard how the lady talked to me it seemed that she didnt want to be there. They lost a sale because of whoever answered the phone yesterday Saturday evening around 7 pm.

Aji was a great opportunity to pick up on some excellent Peruvian food. They serve some very excellent ceviche over a variety of styles and the empanadas are delicious. Highly recommend!

The food was terrible, the food lacked seasoning and flavor. The Cilantro salsa was bland. Everything was overpriced. I wont be returning.
