Friendly staff, Awesome food and great prices!. A great place for breakfast in Galveston! Most breakfast places are disappointing, but every now and then you get a pleasant surprise. That is what we got when my family and I visited Ocampos this morning. The building is not much to look at and the interior decor is not impressive, but the food is true to its authentic Mexican roots. I had the Ocampo Burrito (only $3.50) and it was awesome. It was more then I could eat (I weigh 220 pounds). The extra large extra thick hand made tortillas are the best I have had north of the Mexican border and their home made cooked salsa is to die for. The little bowl of salsa they brought out to begin with vanished in a few seconds and they had to bring a cereal bowl full of the stuff for us to finally get enough. My wife had the Barbacoa and it great as well. The other members had Heuvos Rancheros and Huevos a la Mexicana and they were all great as well. The staff prefers Spanish (not a problem for me, since I am fluent) but they do understand English. About the only down side was that it was crowded and the tables were pretty close, but you have to expect that with a place that is this good and cheap. They could stand with some sound dampening furnishing, because it is quite noisy, but I will be back for breakfast every time I am in Galveston.

2/10* The hubby and I were starving when we went, so we suffered the bland tasting food. I complained about the chips being stale, that should have been my cue to leave but we stayed and were just disappointed. Orders were wrong and I somehow ended up with a tostado with no meat. Not that the ground beef was any good anyway, it had no flavor not even after I added salsa to it. We definitely will never go back and wouldnt recommend the place to anyone.

Not sure how they have rated so high. Do not go if in a hurry very very slow. When order finally came it was wrong as was the table in front of me when their order came, so another 10+ minutes for 1 breakfast burrito. Total wait time over 20 minutes. Food was nothing special and rather bland tasting chorizo. Expensive for breakfast. Must be a better lunch. Would not recommend

I only came to accommodate my husbands wish for some authentic Mexican food however after eating here, my mind has completely changed. The food was fantastic! The beans and rice were the best I have had. I normally hate beans and rice however I inhaled them here! Chips and fresh salsa was so good. Great food, smiles, and great service!

I stumbled upon this place looking for lunch, the staff were very nice and the food was very fresh and tasted good I had the chicken quesadillas and it came with beans and rice everything was good in my opinion it was better than most other tex-mex restaurants. Now I have a place to go eat when Im in Galveston.

Had the Tamale plate. Never had a tamale that had cheese and sauce on it but let me tell you it was so good! Some of the best cheese Ive ever tasted on Mexican food. We went for lunch and were in no rush so cant comment on the service what we had was just fine.

The food is amazingly delicious, homemade flower tortillas but most of all the warmth hospitality from the waitress señorita "Antonia" which made us feel at home !!! If youre dinning here stop and Bless her with your presence.
