When I go to a Mexican restaurant the food takes on a secondary place for me, mostly because I am easy to please with my culinary tastes. I mainly go because I love Margaritas. Up until this day I thought I would never find a Margarita that I could not stand.. I mean I find one here and there that are okay, or not so great. However, this was an untolerable mixture of what tasted like chardonnay mixed with dollar store marg mix. Alas there are other things as well, like the poor waitress that was definitely waiting on EVERY table in the place. Hence why our drinks, etc. took longer than expected. Plus I felt the place was exceptionally warm (I do in their defense tend to run a bit on the warm side anyways, AC at 68..) the silver lining was that the food wasnt terrible. Compared to the Margaritas it was like eating at a 5 star restaurant, so thats something I guess. Over all I certainly wont be returning, but should you venture out to this little whole in the wall be sure to order a beer.

ROACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R O A C H E S!!!!!! First of all, the entire staff was completely rude. The hostess asked us to stand outside in the heat instead of the small lobby area while we waited for our table. Her reasoning was that "people dont like when people are waiting in the lobby." We waited about 10 minutes and then went back inside. We asked for a table for 14 and they refused to comply. We were seated seperately. We placed our orders and the orders were mostly wrong. My aunt found roaches in food. They didnt change the channel on the tv because it was "stuck" though it is a sports atmosphere kind of restaurant. When we asked for our checks. We got charged for gratuity though we were not seated together. The waitresses were rude to my family. All in all, this is the worst experience I have ever had.

Fairly average Mexican restaurant. We ordered the shrimp enchiladas and the shrimp Tex-mex enchiladas... well, sort of. The waitress got my order completely wrong as I ordered chicken enchiladas and got shrimp Tex mex, but I was wanting to try something new (I guess) so I didnt mind. Both contained good quality shrimp (if youve had CHEAP shrimp you know what I mean) and were mildly flavorful - certainly not flavor-bursting. Aside from a LOT of cheese on the non Tex Mex version both dishes were close to bland-ish. The salsa from the chips and salsa was a thin, warm, soupy salsa making it tough to get much of on the chips. We WILL be back for the fajitas as they made the entire restaurant smell awesome when a table across the way was served. Sure THAT would have flavor to match the smell... We hope.

We always stop by this restaurant on our annual trip to galveston and we have had no issues before. However, this time it was marred by a rude hostess and terrible service staff. Food was ok to this establisment standards. TV was "stuck" on a channel which they refused our request to put on sports which ironically everyone staffed had sport teams jerseys. Our grouped was seated seperately but they instilled their gratuity which we had to demand to be taken off. The hostess lacked hospitality which she carried a rude tone and was being too pushy to clear the way while we requested how many to be seated. On top it off one of the plates had little roaches. We wont be thinking of this place anymore as its quality had been dropping significantly every year and this time it took the cake for us.

At the beginning of the summer season we made a trip to galveston. Our first day we stopped by here as this was the only place on the entire wall that was mild busy as everywhere else had lines out their doors. We park and enter and are seated outside. The waitress tosses our menus on the table and walks away with no words spoken. We scan the menu and choose what we each wanted. After waiting 15min after being seated we decide to leave and inform the manager of what has happen. Not one single waitress could understand what we wanted or said. We looked forward to eating here and watching the gulf. But being totally ignored with a half busy resturant made me decide to never come back on my future business trips to galveston island.

Authentic Mexican, it is fresh and good. Bring cash, they take no other forms of payment. I have two favorite Mexican restaurants is Galveston and this is definately one of them. I love that they offer sugar cane sweetened Mexican Cokes and other Mexican beverages. The small thick disk of cooked corn masa called a masita was melt in your mouth, it was filled with a deliciously spiced pulled pork. I got a plate filled with 3 different types of entres it included a taco, masita & gordita filled with simmered meats. It was under $7.00 It was not on the breakfast menu but I had it for breakfast anyway. I highly recommend this place. A little Spanish goes a long way here. You can feast here for little dinero.

Ive tried a lot of places on the island (Tortugas is my parents favorite but the entrees arent consistent quality in my opinion; The Original is pretty terrible quality except the empanadas; Mi Abualitas is THE BEST for breakfast and best staff, but not open for dinner...) and Gorditas will now be my GO-TO for dinner. Such great food. Service was ok. Great attitudes but their system is a little flawed - took a while to get drinks, didnt get chips and salsa until the meal came out, and I was charged extra for sour cream that was supposed to come with the fajitas. But those fajitas and the California burrito were ON POINT! Cant wait to sit out on the patio soon drinking a beer! Loved it

The place was dirty, no one on staff speaks english not even enough to take your order-you have to point at the menu to let them know what you want and making the order different than whats on the menu...FORGET IT! They take only cash! We all ordered different items off the menu and once the food arrived 50 minutes later it was just awful, everything tasted like day old reheated pot roast for some reason. The only good thing I have to say is that at least the hot sauce and chips tasted great but they gave us (a table of 4) one very tiny dish of hot sauce and refused to give us more than once bowl. JUST AWFUL PLACE STAY AWAY unless you want something to laugh about later.
