DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Food was extremely underseasoned. Ordered a queso flamado that resembled a thick putty with chunky rubber like meat. The tequila lime wings were the only thing close to flavorful, but they were still frozen on the inside. The shrimp cocktail is shown on their menu with jumbo shrimo, but they came with a handful of baby shrimp and it had more Pico in it than shrimp. Didnt let us know they were out of oysters that we ordered until we went to ask our waitress a question. Really rude service from the owner after we complained about the foul sewage smell in the restroom. The only thing worth anything here was the horchata wouldve gotten more if I wouldve been offered a refill, but of course I wasnt. NEVER EVER EVER GOING BACK!!!!

This place is a fairly clean family-style restaurant with good salsa and average chips. We went for the ceviche which used not-very-fresh shrimp--disappointment #1. My chicken and mole was ok, but nothing I couldnt make better. (Overcooked and skimped on the mole sauce.) The chicken quesadillas were a little greasy. Due to the busy hour, the waitress forgot a few items. Almost as we were ready to go, the waitress says, "Theyre still working on your tamale." So, we had to wait until they finished it. It was probably one of the worst Ive ever had. They should have asked us if we still wanted it. We should have gone to Tortugas. The prices are about the same and its a MUCH nicer restaurant!

I love coming to this place with my husband. The food is really good and their prices are great . Their breakfast burritos are big. My husband and I can only eat one because it fills us up. The tortillas are home made and huge. The service is excellent and their staff are so attending to you. Hate that we are no longer going to be living in the area due to purchasing our new home on the opposite side of Houston but we are definitely going to make this place we will come to eat as we do our get aways to Galveston at least once or twice a week. Not too many places that I can find like this place. We love it. If you ever visit or come to Galveston, make sure you stop by and try it out.

Every Friday we try a new place this place was kinda odd since we have never eaten at Mexican restaurant in Galveston so we decides to test it out . As son as we walked in they great us with " A Good afternoon welcome" when we got to our table the service was worst. Not to mention the food it was worst than than the service it self.My husband had asked for chicken enchiladas they served him cheese enchiladas we were trying to ask to change them but the waiter didnt come to the table until 15 minutes later once everybody else was half done eating Im only giving it one start because they had good music.

Never have I ever waited at any galveston establishment for more than twenty minutes once seated for a menu, silverware or service. This place had three waiters, the owner and possibly 8 out of the twenty tables with customers. I had to ask the waitress for a menu, and was told to "hold on". Ten minutes later and several failed attempts to get anyones attention, we left. They were busy attending to and sitting at the other tables, so its not like grabbing a menu would of been out of their way. Never will I ever try to give them my buisness again.

Brought my family here for breakfast during a family trip we took 2 weeks back and the service we recieved from our waitress was horrible. I dont know if she just didnt feel like working because it was labor day weekend but she did not seem to care about serving us at all. We ordered huevos rancheros and when we asked for out salsa she stated that we can pour the same salsa we used for our chips on the eggs because its the same salsa anyways. This got me real upset. But now i know when i visit Galveston i will no longer bring my service here!!!

I ate there this past friday with some friends and they & I enjoyed it very much. Food was authentic and delicious & the price was reasonable. My friend & me are from the Waco area & we where down in Galveston on vacation. I remember going to this restaurant back in 2001 with another friend of mine. It hasnt changed a bit for the good of it. I highly recommend this place to eat good mexican cuisine. The restaurant is highly decorated to go with the authentic ambience. The staff is very friendly too which is very important. Thank you. Frank G.

The worst Mexican restaurant we have ever eaten at. Warm (temperature)salsa with little flavor was served with cheese sauce that tasted like melted Velveeta cheese and it cost extra! The only good thing was the flour tortillas that cost extra! Mediocre quesidilla and enchiladas. I asked for some rice, which the waiter forgot, and it was bland....and I got charged extra for that too! This place came recommended to us or we never would have tried it. We paid $33.00 for 2 people and the food and service were mediocre.

I think the large mural painting of the Pope and Mary compelled us to stop and pull in to El Gusto. LoL ! But since then- I think I may pray a little more. The food was great! Family Style place, cool Mexican portraits , FAST SERVICE, and awesome customer service. They checked to make sure we were happy with everything ... and without asking refilled our chips. The main dishes- we each got different items- el burrito plater and el gorditta <--- best choices on the menu. Great place. will be going back.

Horrible .waitress was NOT attentive only came by once just to bring food .then disappeared..food was ok not great just Didnt have much flavor. The fajita meat was rubbery not much flavor either . The drinks were from a can not homemade. Way over priced for the quality of food . They had the nerve to even charge for water . Restrooms not even below even my standards and thats saying alot. Will not be going back even if they paid me . I will not advise you going just go elsewhere.

I do not recommend this place at all,Food is to spicy and made us sick, the agua de tamarindo tastes nasty, the orchata is way too sweet....and the owner send a second waitress to charge us before we were done with our food so my husband had to stop eating to take his wallet out and paid our ticket....food is over priced and in a few words food is nasty and not even worth the trip....definitely not going back.
