Holy moly this place rocks. My wife and I visited Dallas on a long weekend getaway. This place made the short list of restaurants to try - and Im happy it did. Great cocktails, good beer on tap, amazing food, and stellar service. Our server, Andrew, was fantastic. I was between a few items, and he was able to sway me to the fried chicken sandwich. Unlike typical chicken sandwiches that use breast meat, The Porch uses dark meat. This was enough to sway me from the short rib stroganoff. The chicken sandwich is topped with coleslaw, pickles, and spicy mayo. Its unbelievable. I subbed in the smoked ham mac n cheese for my side - also great. My wife ordered the stroganoff per Andrews recommendation. It did not disappoint. Both entrees were simply delicious. Somehow we had enough room in our stomachs for dessert. Let me say, the warm gooey butter cake is probably the best thing Ive ever had. Ever. Im going to dream about it. I will probably fly back to Dallas to "catch a Cowboys game with friends or something" but Im really just coming back for the gooey butter cake. Even if you hate everything about cool dinner spots, just visit The Porch for their butter cake. If we lived in Dallas this would be our go-to spot. Actually its going to become our go-to spot when we move to Dallas for the gooey butter cake.

One of my favorite restaurants- and would be a great one to have a birthday dinner with friends at IF they took reservations. Cocktails- are always mixed well, are unique and are delicious. If you like sweet, try the Strawberry Crush (UNLESS you dont like mint). If you prefer something a little more crisp, their gimlet with grapefruit is really good. Appetizers- the Hummus and their Tuna Tartare are both super tasty. Boys tend to go for the BBQ Pork Sliders. Main course- First off- its a side but their macaroni and cheese is amazing. It has a little smokey taste and is super rich. Definitely a must have. Known for their Stodg burger (which is this huge amazingness of a hamburger with a fried egg on top), it really is delicious... albeit a little messy. Im a fan of their salmon burger as well. Their Au Jus is always delicious (definitely get it with fries, theyre really good) and I most recently had their Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup-- super yummy. I always have good service and leave really pleased with my experience.

My boyfriend and I came here on a Monday evening. We had originally planned on going to Tei Tei next door, but it turns out they are closed on Mondays. We were starving so decided to give The Porch a try. We started out with the Garlic & Tomato Steamed Mussels, but were disappointed as the flavor was not tasted throughout each bite and seemed rather bland. We then shared an order of the Seared Tuna Nicoise, which turned out to be okay. For our main meal, I had the Smoked Brisket Enchiladas, but the flavor of the brisket made it taste odd. My boyfriend ordered the Grilled Salmon, and I tasted a portion of it. His dish seemed okay. Overall, the quality of the food that we ordered was not worth the price. The service during our meal was okay. This was my first time hearing of The Porch, and unfortunately also my first and last time eating there. You would assume that being hungry, wed get the impression that the food tasted better, but that wasnt the case at all.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. First, when (not if) you go, ask for Andrew because he is a phenomenal server. My husband and I are visiting from out of town and Andrews menu recommendations were stellar, including other local bars and places to check out. Second, I seriously doubt you could go wrong with anything you order here, but the jalepeño corn bread with whipped honey butter is a great starter. My husband got the crispy chicken sandwich which surprisingly is made with dark meat making it even better than a traditional chicken breast sandwich. I got the beef stroganoff and it was delicious. Lastly, you cannot go to The Porch without getting the gooey butter cake. This is hands down the best cake Ive ever had in my life and for a minute I considered moving to Dallas from Virginia just for that cake. Quite possibly the best meal and service Ive ever had at a restaurant. The chef and his team are brilliant and I cant recommend them enough.

Ok, I have visited a lot of great restaurants and many great expensive restaurants but this place is over-priced like a number of the look at me, I pay too much so I am fabulous places in the Uptown area. Here is the shakedown, overall its good food. The beef au jus sandwich is very tasty and the Stodg burger is very satisfying and flavorful. Service is quite acceptable. Here is where the place loses points, the drinks and price. Drinks are about 10 bucks a pop and they are by no means strong or large, in fact they are quite small. The food is quite overpriced, please, 10 bucks for a side of mac and cheese? 15 bucks for a hamburger? Consiliente restaurants apparently has been dropping the ball lately, they closed Cuba Libre and opened another over-priced restaurant in it's place called Alma and it failed in barely over 6 months. Wake up and smell the coffee Tristan!

Visited during lunch hour and had a great experience. Despite it being pretty busy, we still managed to get a table a quickly. Our server was so attentive, my brothers glass of water didnt reach below half empty. The music was a nice 90s playlist consisting of songs like Zombie by The Cranberries and Im Just a Girl by No Doubt. The crowd was also a nice mix between young couples, businessmen, and older families. We had a baby with us and one of the hosts brought us crayons and a coloring page so it might be an okay place to bring a child. Last but not least, the food. The appetizers were fantastic- I highly recommend their spinach and parmesan dip. The main lunch dishes were all delicious as well and arrived within a timely manner. Definitely recommend this location.

Great place for a midweek bite. I didnt want anything too involved but The Porch was a a good meal, and wasnt so busy that I had to scream at anyone at my table. The food was good, but not mind blowing. Turkey Chili was a letdown, but my burger was a high point. The server was on the spot, so much so that we felt a little rushed to order even though we had a hour before the kitchen closed. Ill have to try some other items on the menu as there was alot that looked good and I wanted to try. You can skip the mixed drinks, they were nothing to write home about when compared to other more dedicated drink locations like Cedars Social, Peoples Last Stand, or The Standard Pour. Dont forget to look at the large chalk board on the back wall for some other tasty treats.

Brunch at the Porch is usually very good. The eggs are always cooked perfectly. I had the croque madame off their brunch menu. Two sunny side eggs on top of bacon, ham and gruyere cheese on an open-faced slice of whole grain toast makes the perfect hangover cure. My girlfriend had the BGE which is the biscuits, gravy and eggs dish. The eggs were good but she didnt like the sweet gravy or the biscuits. Not quite flaky enough for her taste. She loved the covered patio and the heat lamps do a good job of keeping the cold out. Service was also very knowledgeable on the menu, especially brunch.
