Our experience here (wife and I) was unfortunate at best. The value, quality and menu descriptions are flawed. It started with our Negra Modelo Michiladas ($10). It was served in a standard pint glass filled to the brim with ice. They brought the drink over (with the remainder of the bottle beer) and the beer still had 95% of it in it. I stirred thoroughly and took a sip and it was pure lime juice. I kept adding my beer in an attempt to thin out the overly tart cocktail. A bigger glass would easily solve this issue. Menu claimed there was Pepper Infused "HORNITOS PLATA TEQUILA" that either wasnt there or the lime juice covered it up. There are many places in Oak Cliff that serve this standard cocktail - I would recommend Mesa take a few tips. The wife had Guiso del Chef, I had the Paella our friend had the Chicken Mole. 1.) Guiso ($22) - a scoop of rice in a butter and garlic broth with an insultingly minimal amount of overcooked seafood. Two clam shells (never found the actual clams), two shrimp (tough/rubbery/overcooked), two nickel sized scallops (tough/rubbery/overcooked), two mussels and a meager portion of octopus. $22. She was disappointed and unsatisfied. She became even more upset when I showed her a picture of the Guiso Del Chef posted by another Yelper (Tracy L. on 4/19/15) that was brimming with seafood. The difference in what my wife received and what Tracy posted is striking which speaks to the lack of consistency in the kitchen. Maybe reducing the amount of protein in the dish is a cost saving measure? 2.) Paella ($20) - 1st, what they brought be was not Paella. Not even close. An utter misrepresentation and should be remedied immediately on how it is presented on the menu. It was a scoop of white rice, swimming in a brown stock, again with a minimal amount of the aforementioned seafood. It was more of a lackluster gumbo than anything. Chef interpretation of Paella? Not good. 3.) Chicken Mole ($18) - Mole sauce was very good. Deep, earthy, simi sweet with notes of chilies and chocolate. It was served on a chicken 1/4 with a scoop of white rice and green beans. Very tasty but the value here is questionable. When choosing Mexican food in Oak Cliff, there are a copious number of options (including those in walking distance). If you dont want to be overcharged for mediocre, inconsistent, misrepresented Mexican food, youd be well served exploring those other options.

I cannot even begin to express my anger with this restaurant...but I shall try in order to help future patrons from avoiding this place! You are only as good as the company your keep, in this instance I mean the staff. We were having a perfecting enjoyable evening, it was a Thursday night with only one other table in the restaurant. The terrible part came at the end of the meal...the waiter picked up the check and commented, and I kid you not, that we did not tip 20% of the entire $90 tab. We were irate!!!! It was me and my husband, we had 6 drinks, making up almost half the tab...we left approx. $9, This was apparently not enough for the waiter. It is one thing to be disappointed by your tip but to say something is a whole other level of inappropriateness... Based on this waiters comment we will NEVER be back here. When a tip is by choice and not required, for you to cop an attitude when you get 15% of the food as tip as opposed to 20% of the food and alcohol is uncalled for. I guarantee there are people who work way harder than this guy, walking plates 10 feet, and make far less than $9 for 30 mins of their time...

Mesa was amazing! I was visiting Dallas for a quick weekend and my cousin suggested we eat here. I was not disappointed. The food was amazing. The service was fast and friendly. The chef came out and chatted with us for a bit. The drinks were to die for! Quite possibly the best restaurant Mole Ive ever had. The Carne Asada was cooked to perfection. The Cochinita Pibil was also succulent and delicious. Next time Im in Dallas Ill definitely go back. Also - To the reviewer that gave the restaurant 1 star for the servers comment --seriously? You under tip AND you give a bad review. The 1 star review should be given to you as a patron. It doesnt matter if you only order drinks or not. 20% is standard. If you think the waiter deserves less because hes only bringing you drinks, then sit at the bar next time. As for your choice to NEVER visit again - I agree - Im sure the staff will appreciate it too.

I have been to Mesa at least 12 times and each visit is just as delicous as the next! My favorite items are the Chicken Enmoladas (to die for), their seafood soup Guisa de Chef, ceviche, Lobster Enchiladas, and queso fundido. My favorite drink is the Mesa Horchata! Every bite is so authentic and you can just taste all the different ingredients. I drove 30 minutes from my place to pick my parents up to treat them to dinner and they both ate every last bite. (My mother is hard to please!) I dare say Mesas mole is better than my mothers made from scratch mole. I have taken at least 8-10 different people there and they all have love it as well. Everything is fresh and delicious.

Man, I was totally bowled over by this place. At first it seems super small and then they lead you to the back area which feels like an outdoor patio which is great. Service was excellent. The cocktails were delicious. And then theres the food. Such great and delicious foods. Wonderful takes on classic Mexican dishes. My shrimps were spicy (but not to spicy or "spicy for the sake of spicey") and utterly delicious. I loved this place and cant wait to get back.

When I was younger I did study abroad in the city of Puebla where Mole was created. I feel like I can confidently say that Mesa has some of the best Mole sauce I have had since then. The Mole and the Ceviche are my mainstays when I visit. These coupled with a spicy margarita makes for a world class meal. I would put Mesa up against any restaurant of this style in the city. The one knock would be to improve the dessert menu a bit.

Lunch approximately $8.50 for two item with lo mein and a drink. Noodles tasted not so great to me, chicken and sweet sour pork wasnt too bad. I have been here about 5 times. Very filling and has a variety to choose from. Arrive early because when lunch time ends at 2:30 the food looks like it has sat around for too long

Its looks are deceiving. There isnt alot of parking. Its small. We ordered the mole. When our food arrived I thought I was going to have to order more food. The portion was small. The food was beyond amazing. It was all made from scratch. The flavors were like an explosion in my mouth. Will definitely go back
