Our family trip to el fenix this holiday season was so disappointing,we are considering never going back which is sad due to the fact we love the place and have always had good service. Now a few words to the food.....all our food for 5 adults and 5 children was room temperature on a hot plate! Enchiladas seemed to have been in a steam table way too long.Tacos were filled with something unlike meat and more like mush and again room temperature. Lettuce was brown, limp and again room temperature. We ordered 2 orders of sopapias, they were warm but wouldnt melt butter. These desserts could have been good but were way too thick tasting much like pie crust (dry). Wish they could match the food to the decor and service, then Ill consider going back...

Waitress was not too good at her job... new? Maybe. Food was not that good rice had no taste spicy brisket enchiladas were not good had to force my self to eat. Fajitas looked amazing but taste was bland and very thin. Asked for another drink instead waitress gave us our receipt. Had to walk to restroom for napkin asked waitress twice for some. Only think we actually liked was the salsa and queso. Now I know why its been 5 yrs since we ate here last.

I have been eating El Fenix, since i was a little girl... Although this is not downtown Dallas, El Fenix, the food is pretty good, and you cant miss the familiar taste of their HOT SAUCE and GUACAMOLE.. and their chips, and tortillas... They are delicious and my favs, from any other mexican restaurant.. They dont hide behind excessive hot, that burns your tongue there food is so good, they dont have to!... However, they do offer lots of caliente dishes too!☺

This restaurant is on our preferred list for date night, but on our anniversary I ordered the Chimichangas. Served with rice and beans on the side. Well, EF has jumped on the "save money wagon" and sold out the customers. A Chimichanga should be filled with beef, chicken and onions. The onions have been gone for a long time and my meal at $9.00 had a thimbleful of beef and lots of rice and beans. That is just too much rice and beans for me.

Comfortable, consistent quality served by friendly experienced staff with the addition of new progressive menu items to supplement the time tested traditional Mexican dishes that established its reputation. Wait times are reasonable even on busiest evenings. Could do without the loud birthday singing that has become a restaurant cliché Frozen margaritas and nachos always please.

We often dine at this El Fenix for lunch and are never disappointed. There is an atmosphere of "the customer comes first" here. Servers are always polite and efficient as well as helpful with special requests. The sour cream chicken enchiladas, soft cheese tacos, and tacos al carbon are quite the yum, along with a very tasty Inca Gold margarita.

The survive in this restaurant was lacking. The server was complaining about being tired and overwhelmed and complained to the host, in front of us, that he shouldnt be seating is in his section. The food like always was consistently good. I tipped the server 25% Hopi g to make him have a better day.

Actually had a good experience here for the first time back after nearly a year of hiatus following no less than 5 attempts to have a hot meal, prepped according to description, and with a friendly staff...truly a better experience thos day and I might come back again next month.

the food was good here... But when they have a special dinner nights.. be expected to be waited on for a while. Weve had about two different servers waiting on our table and then at the end of going into desert, the manager was serving us. But he was very polite.

#1 is in Dallas , this is # 1.5 our waiter Alex was awesome. Almost perfect. The food was hot and to die for. Thank you for making my friend James who is from Cali and I feel like family. This experience was one of the best for that day. Blue bonnets #1.

I love this place. Salsa and chips are the best. The food is pricey, but we only go when looking to splurge. Most dinner plates will be around $10. Sometimes we get a bigger one and split it. Great mixed drinks and the waiters are always very friendly.

I love El Fenix, been going there for 40 years. The only thing that is bothers me about the Waxahachie location is the food comes to our table cold. At the downtown Dallas restaurant they have to warn you of the hot plate. Wish this would change !!!!!

Not worth the $80 I spent, bland meal... Great service, atmosphere, and music... Almost got scammed for money, guacamole was mostly lettuce, and fajita plate had more onions than anyone at my table had actual fajitas... Not a returning customer.

We went there after Church and had the brunch buffet. It was extraordinary! (I didnt care much for the flan) but that was the only thing. They had a huge variety and it was delicious and a very reasonable price.

Finally some competition for Campuzanos. The crowds still waiting for a seat speak for themselves. Great food, reasonable price, amazing chips. Enjoy this place as we and all our friends do as well.

Exceptional service! Delicious food! I cant have too much heat, meaning spice heat, so they modify my meals. They are so sweet to me. I love going.

Very good food! Small portions and the staff is a bit slow. They take care of you; however, it may take them a while. It was definitely worth the visit.
