Average Trendy Beergarden, but Pricey I went to Goodfriends on the reccomendation of a good friend because I was looking for a nice patio to have drinks and a meal. This place meets all of those requirements but doesnt do anything special. It is your typical trendy beergarden with junk art and raw wood tables and chairs. The place is crowded but welcoming. The staff is too cool for school but gets the job done. You will have to be patient as they operate on their schedule. This has become the expected service at these popular places, where they have more customers than they can handle and dont really care if you come back. Atmosphere is ok, but nothing special, the patio is the parking lot and you will not be looking at anything pretty besides the beautiful young people that make up most of the customer base. Again, this is typical for Dallas as there are not a lot of beautiful vistas to be found anywhere. They put up reclaimed materials on the walls and some ironic event posters, but it gives the place the right feel and meets expectations. The have plenty of craft beers on tap and from the bottle, lots of good choices and rotators. I did find it hard to compare beers and prices, but I knew what I wanted to drink so it didnt really matter. If you are not familiar with the craft brew scene it might be challenging to order what you enjoy. My girlfriends bloody mary was ok, but nothing special. The food was definitely good and they had some interesting options that make dining fun. My burger was cooked well with Brie and an egg, lots of flavor. My girlfriends salad was large enough for a meal with a variety of greens and chopped vegetables. But again, this is really only average for the price. There are so many of these places popping up in DFW that if you like the beergarden experience you owe it to yourself to try Goodfriends. If you are patient and out for a leisurely good time you will not be disappointed, but I suspect that you will probably find another that you prefer more.

First the PROS: The beer selection is (namely my favorite style which is IPA = India Pale Ale) pretty darn awesome. On top of that, they have ROTATING taps + standards/old standbys always available. They also have cool, unique, unusual beers in the bottle as well, which is great. So, selection is some of the best in Dallas. The food is outstanding!! Cant tell ya a particular dish to try - just go explorin:-) Really outstanding food and a good value. The decor is pretty cool; I like the list of rotating beers written on the board and the overall layout - rough around the edges yet in a cool sorta way. The only sore spot (and the ONLY reason I actually dont go over there much any more these days) is the experience Ive had with their service. A couple of the bartenders have been fair maybe and occassionaly good... but any time I have gone over, a couple of the employees (bartenders) have been downright cold; sorta like you feel like they feel you are somthing on the bottom of their shoe maybe?.. rather than a paying customer - in an ailing economy no less. If the service were to bump up to the fair to excellent range - not talkin about kissin your toes to be "nice," but just being respectful friendly and accomodating, Id be back there... and often.

Good selection of beer and good service in an energetic atmosphere. It took longer than we we expected and longer than we were told for a seating for two at 6pm on a Saturday. We waited at the bar and had great service from John. Once seated we again experienced attentive service from our waitress. The wait for our food was a bit long but not annoyingly so. We both ordered burgers. They are a bit on the expensive side but mostly in line with other gourmet burgers in Dallas. And they tasted very good too. The sides are a bit pricey but we enjoyed the fried green beans. Generally this is a good place for a beer and a gourmet burger. The selection of beers is varied and interesting and the food is good. However there are other places with better burgers at lower prices and are easier to get into. Still it is an interesting combination and the number of people that they serve show its also popular.

My burger was out of this world delicious. I am a huge burger connoisseur and I ordered the "Chin Strap" - Beef burger topped with amish-bleu cheese, bacon mousse, and crispy bacon. I always get my burgers cooked rare and they did a fantastic job. My favorite burgers always contain Japanese Kobe or Akaushi beef, and yet, this Angus beef burger was just the bomb. The star ingredient in my particular burger was the bacon mousse, as it was creamy, thick, and consisted of the perfect amount of freshly cooked bacon bits. This venue was also great because it was dog friendly and didnt even require that patrons with dogs sit outside. They also have a very comprehensive, rotating beer list which was not anything to snuff at.

goodfriend has the entire package & is what bar/restaurants aspire to be...the people who own this place and the people who work here are all genuinely nice, warm, welcoming people...plus theyre good at what they do. Theres just a ton of good vibes here. During the day its more of a restaurant with anything goes including families & dogs on the patio...and the later it gets it becomes more of a bar with good people watching & mingling. Any time of day, their amazing beer selection pairs well with the food menu that offers a wide selection from healthy to self destructive (including a burger so hot you have to sign a waiver!). Go to this place.

Good beer selection, good food. On Friday and Saturday night it gets crowded and its hard to find a seat or even a non-awkward spot to stand without getting in the way. I avoid this place on those nights(unless you like standing; the waiters will ignore you and its hard to get close to the bar to get drinks). But if you live near White Rock, its probably one of the only good bars/restaurants to go to with a decent beer selection. Decent patio. Waffle fries are the shiz. Way better than Chik-fil-A fries.

A true hidden gem in the backyard of Lake Highlands. Goodfriend is a hole in the wall with character and individuality. All of the staff is extremely knowledgeable about their food and spirits, and intuitively attentive. Not to mention, the food is SUPERB. This is a fantastic place to get away from the "hustle and bustle" of the more populated bar scenes of Dallas, and enjoy a unique, hidden beer haven.

Huge portions. You may be put off by the food prices, but I guarantee you wont leave hungry. Burgers are great and their soup is Tabatha. They have a huge assortment of local and specialty beers. The atmosphere is fantastic and they have a great outdoor patio. The beer prices are very reasonable, and they even have a cheap beer section. A great place for late night dining or a morning hangover.

Fantastic food. Tried the big boy sandwich, hearty combination of egg, potato and bacon makes for prefect sandwich. All their meat is prepared in-house. There is a cafe there also that serves perfectly balanced Cortados. The sitting space is communal with a few 4 people, be prepared to wait for a seat or take it home. Menu changes and ingredients run out, so have a back up option when ordering.
