I tried Boulevardier for the first time this evening, and had high hopes. The people were friendly, the service was good. I ordered the cassoulet, usually a fine dish on a chilly winter evening - and was terribly disappointed. It should have been good; the duck confit resting on top was excellent (I ate it separately from the beans), and the dish had obviously been cooked slowly and carefully, but someone in the kitchen had decided to flavor the dish strongly with clove. I will not guess at the kitchen staffs motivation, but whoever did that is taste-deaf, and should not be allowed near a cassoulet. The clove overpowered all the other flavors that should have been there. I gave it a good try - I took my time, and ate most of it, thinking that perhaps the surprise of the strong clove flavor was what made it seem so wrong, not the flavor itself. I thought that it might work if I gave my palate a chance to adjust to it, rather than comparing it to the range of tasty cassoulets Ive had over the years. No, it was just wrong, a bad choice of spicing. It was a good pot of beans, duck, sausage and pork spoiled by a very bad culinary decision. I will try Boulevardier again, since my companion said her burger was good and it seemed like they were all trying very hard to run a good restaurant. Im a fan of good neighborhood restaurants like you find in any French city, and that is what Boulevardier seems to be attempting. If my next meal there is better, Ill revise this. But it gets just one more chance.

I am so very sorry to be having to write this review as I have been a big fan and regular diner at Boulevardier. My son was having a special birthday and we organized 6 family members and friends schedules to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance. We were all very much looking forward to this fabulous evening and great meal. 72 hours in advance of our dinner, the host called to say they were cancelling our reservation because they decided to close the restaurant for Super Bowl. I was furious at their lack of professionalism considering this is the hospitality industry and at a loss as to where to get a reservation for 6 at a nice restaurant on such short notice. We were all very disappointed... especially the birthday boy. The host who had to do the dirty work was very polite and they did send a token gift card to make us feel better about the cancellation. But the manager never called and did not include a note of apology with the card. So lame not to make a decision about opening or closing a restaurant until the last possible minute. It has left a bad impression and we are not sure we will return even to use the gift card. Also, FYI if you want to bring your own birthday cake, they will charge you $5 per person to serve the cake. We decided to go to Smoke where we were treated so nicely. Excellent staff. Beautiful food and friendly welcome.

My husband and I went to Boulevardier last night for our wedding anniversary. We started out with the Crawfish Beignets which were spectacular. I used to travel often for work in Lousiana, and I am a big lover of cajun dining. These savory beignets were perfect. Most places overpower crawfish with too much roux or other sauces. I could taste the crawfish which was delightfully seasoned, and the pimentos gave a nice zing to the dish. My husband ordered oysters and loved them (I am NOT an oyster person, but he seemed very pleased). My husband ordered the Bouillabasse and it from the ONE taste that I got from the broth, I can tell you it was excellent. I ordered the market fish which was red snapper with clams over tomatoes and mushrooms in a bacon broth. I eat seafood, but not meat, so I politely asked if they could do the dish with another broth. The chef kindly made mine with lobster saffron broth, and my word, that was a tasty dish! The flavors were spot on, the fish was perfectly crisp and tender. I left very satisfied, but not overly full. Great date night restaurant!

The service was just ok, my cousin was brought a burger instead of the pork chop she ordered and had to wait forever to eat. The food was pretty good though. I really enjoyed the crawfish beignets and duck wings. The grilled baby octopus was ok, but I like the octopus at Victor Tangos better, very flavorful. I also had the mac n cheese which was ok too not my favorite. My friends had the mussels, the boulevardier burger, pork chop, and fries and all enjoyed their food. No leftovers! Another friend had the huckleberry cobbler first and didnt like it, it wasnt very sweet. But next she tried the Boogaloo and enjoyed it. She said it tasted like a piña colada This place wasnt as upscale looking as I thought it would be when I walked in but we were greeted promptly by the hostess and she was willing to seat us before our entire party arrived. We made a reservation and had to move it back which was great they allowed it over the phone because online it said there were no later reservations available but the place was pretty empty the whole time we were there.

After so many meals here, I was shocked to be treated so poorly for a birthday dinner. The waiter literally tossed the birthday dessert on the table and the manager could have cared less. Too bad this once gem has jumped the shark - the good news is that Bishop Arts has so many other nice places to eat where they are happy that you are there. Why couldnt this place continue to be the special neighborhood restaurant it started out as - there is no excuse for the rude treatment of return - or first time - customers. Maybe this is why the restaurant business is so difficult - regardless, who wants to be treated bad when there are so many gracious and fantastic restaurants in Dallas? Not me.

This restaurant has an amazing Sunday brunch. The staff is super friendly and courteous. The food is very delicious. I recommend trying their unique version of eggs Benedict. The food here has an eclectic taste to it. The coffee is very good bold and strong. The mimosas are phenomenal. The menu is fairly small but as with most great restaurants the menus usually are. This place is located in one of the newest trendiest areas of Dallas. It is located in the Bishop arts District which is an attempt to revive the southern part of Dallas Oak creek Overall this restaurant is a must if you were visiting Dallas.

Nice atmosphere. Pleasant wait staff. Moderate prices for the cuisine. We had the Wild Boar Ragout Pappardelle which was flavorful. The only memorable thing about this visit was the French Onion Soup.........stay away from this........your taste buds will thank you. Either someone dropped a bucket full of salt in the broth, or they shipped in brine and used that instead of beef stock. It was completely inedible, and remained at the edge of the table after the first spoonful. Not sure Ill be back, as the dinner was filling, but overall unmemorable.......except for the soup....ack!!!
