Normally I enjoy this place but I dont know if it is new ownership (Apparently they are on their 4th owner in a short period of time and she is not doing so great either. This place is going down hill) or what but Friday night my friends and I waited over an hour for our food despite reminding them a few times. Finally i went in to the bar and bc our waiter was clearly out of it and not retaining anything I was telling him (Jared I believe was his name). No one knew about our orders or claimed to have even taken them, the food that finally did come out was wrong, no one cared or corrected it. I was told the kitchen was closed when I told them they STILL did not have one of our orders out (as if this was our fault despite placing the order about an hour prior to the kitchen closing time.) This biggest problem though was the attitude of the staff. No one cared at all, including the Manager, SAM, who seemed drunk and out of it as well. Sam took no ownership for the staffs behavior stating "those are not MY servers." When i asked to speak with him he came up leaning on a wall completely ignoring my friends and I trying to avoid the confrontation. I had to approach him and ASK if he was the manager. If I were an owner I would NOT want this guy "managing" my place of business. On the way out the bar tender, MORGAN, made a snide remark asking my friend if he liked his burger, suggesting that they did something to his food. My friend felt sick after eating the burger. SAM, the not so great manager or human being, did not care. NO ONE CARED. Wait staff (JARED) (if you can all them that), bartender (MORGAN), or manager(SAM). I was then told to contact the owner but if these are the type of people the owner hires what is she like??? Feels like a colossal waste of time if you ask me. I love hanging out with my friends outside playing sports but at this cost??? There are plenty of other places to go and have a good time where people care about customer service and have better music. 15 yr olds up on stage screaming at the top of their lungs Satan worshipping, Marilyn Manson type of music is not appealing either. GO EXPECTING NOTHING FROM THIS PLACE AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE

I am writing this review after frequenting the Sports Garden DFW several times since the new ownership took over last year. It is greatly improved from the volleyball club of 10 years ago. It was "a place to play volleyball" back then, and theyve done an excellent job of taking it to the next level and now offering a bar that is a place to play volleyball, as well as a great place to go watch bands, shoot pool or just hang out. The indoor area where the band stage is offers plenty of space to move about without being overly crowded, even when watching a band like Le Freak which I saw there several weeks ago. Overall, its now a great venue and a good addition to the Valley Ranch area. I was told that the renovations have just begun, and there are great things and improvements in store for what is already a big improvement over the old Yucatán. The only food that I tried there was the thin-crust pizza and it was very good, as bar pizza goes. They also had a good selection of beer to choose from, including some micro-brews. Overall, a great alternative to visit, In lieu of driving down to Dallas or up to Frisco to find a good place to go out in the burbs.

Despite the plural "sports" in the name, people come here for one thing: sand volleyball. This venue has had 4 names in the time Ive known about it (Yucatan, La Playa, Bahama Beach Club, and now Sports Garden DFW). These are the only accessible-to-the-public courts I know of west of I-35E, and thats a real shame, because these are hands-down the worst courts I have found in North Texas. The new owners have the same problem that everyone has had before them, that being terrible court material. I call it "dirt", but others have said that it is actually sand but stays perpetually saturated because there is no drainage there. Even when theres been no rain, the "sand" sticks to you like youre playing in loose dirt rather than beach sand. Here on my latest visit, which was my first since it became Sports Garden DFW, I encountered a new problem Id never seen before -- *every single court* was being used for a tournament. I have gone during tournaments and league play before, and there has always been at least 1-2 courts kept open for free play. Never before have I seen this venue leave zero courts open for walk-in players looking for a pickup game.

I have never been to this place and thankfully this is not the only bar around this area as I will not be back. Came here for a friends bday and her bf was playing in the band called "Hillside". I would like to start out by saying that the atmosphere was way cool, very large, huge bar, and many places to sit or stand. This is a great space but the people working the bar have no idea what theyre doing/ know how to prioritize customers. Lots of standing around waiting on the one bartender to supply drinks to an empty bar. Just baffling. The pours are awful and even the selection of the pours are even worse. I ordered a jager bomb, maybe Ive been spoiled t other bars but last time I remember a bomb being at least an 8 oz drink? Not 1 oz jager and 2 oz of red bull? Sent it back and I was very appreciative and friendly to the bartender when she agreed to make another. I literally was presented with maybe an extra 1.5 oz. Then she charged me $12 for a 4.5oz drink??? Youre kidding right? I am sure this is a great place and I had fun no matter what. But especially on a Friday night you best have your best bartenders on staff. Wont recommend or be back.

We went on a Saturday evening to have dinner and watch a friend play volleyball. Unfortunately the service wasnt just bad, it was non-existent. At 7:00 PM there was one bartender and zero waiters/waitresses inside, meaning there were 15 people constantly standing at the bar waiting for a drink, and not one person waiting tables. Outside, the employee focus was on setting up for a group that was about to start playing volleyball. The few wait staff we saw were bringing out tons of food for the volleyball group, but completely ignored us as we sat at our table hoping for a menu and trying to flag someone down as they sped around us with eyes fixed to the ground. We got our own drinks (had to give the margarita back as the sweet and sour mix had gone bad- even the bartender admitted it), and halfway through our first drink we decided to leave once we determined we were never going to eat. By the way, they allow smoking inside, so if you dont like that you are relegated to the patio where you have to hope its not too hot (or too smoky).
