Recently I took my 5-year old son and I took my parents, my brother and my 6-year old nephew out to lunch for Mothers Day. Having two kids I was nervous about disturbing any one as it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Upon arriving we were greeted very pleasantly and offered our choice of downstairs in their dining room or up on the second floor patio. We chose upstairs even though there were some initial concerns because it was in the 90s that day! None of our concerns couldve been less of an issue. The porch is large and cool, partially shaded by a large tree and features ceiling fans and very cool fans with water misting out of them. It was large enough on the porch that the kids were free to do what they were doing, even going inside to a large empty room. The waitstaff were great with the kids. Our server Holly took care of us in every respect, walking us upstairs, telling us some feature items, getting our drinks right away, bringing our appetizers quickly and even stopping to play with the kids (instead of just being annoyed by them as so many are!). The food was phenomenal. We ordered the BBQ shrimp and spinach artichoke dip appetizers for the table. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the dip had great flavor with lots of cheese and in-house made tortilla chips (not low-fat!). I had the "Stevie Ray" burger made from their own ground beef (two kinds of steak, I think sirloin was one). My old man is a Philly sandwich hound and found the "76-er" to be top notch (couldnt even finish it, a rare event). My mom had the Sedona salad with a really tasty "bronzed" piece of salmon (Im not sure what that means but it was good). My brother wolfed his burger (the "Zilker Park") so I think it must have been OK. The kids dined on a nutritious two starch lunch of mashed potatoes and french fries (wait, isnt ketchup a vegetable now?) but even that was really good. All in all a completely pleasantly surprising "family"lunch on 6th street. Weve all been to Casino El Camino too and while the burgers were choice the atmosphere is a world of its own ("Side of Abuse: Free!" to quote the legendary and oft-missed GM Steakhouse). Ive been back once a week since and their brunch needs a review all its own! Thanks Old School!

Was visiting Austin for Reggae Fest and before heading back to Houston we decided to stop and get a bite. Saw this place as one of Austins best so we decided to check it out and we were definitely pleased with what we had.We got there before the fun of 6th st started so seating wasnt a problem. I always stick with pretty much the same thing at restaurants that cant be messed up like tenders but this time i decided to get something different and was worried i would be disappointed but I opted to get the chicken fried chicken with garlic mash and it was delicious!! Nice and garlicky mash and well seasoned chicken, not too much but just right. A friend of mine had the fish and chips and it was really good also. Portion sizes are big so you get a bang for your buck. We had wings and spinach dip as appetizers which were good. Service was good, our waitress was very attentive and nice. Definitely will return here next time i visit Austin!

Would NOT recommended. Poor service. Had to call someone over after 15 minutes of them passing by our table. Ask for a coke, they give you a cup of ice and cola sucrose. If you want salt, pepper, ketchup even, you have to wait another 15 minutes to ask for it. A burger with no fries, I mean if youre going to charge 10$ for a simple burger at least some fries. Also, anyone who KNOWS calamari, YOU DO NOT SERVE IT WITH MUSTARD!!!!

Walked past this place 100 times before but finally decided to try it for lunch, turned out to be a great decision. The food (burgers & fries) was above average with plenty of creative toppings. Portion sizes are big so go there hungry or be prepared to take home left overs. The huge patio makes for a great place to eat or chill out. Keep in mind this place can get pretty busy so service can be slow at times.

Great Food...Suggested to me by hotel bell boy. Burger with fresh Guacamole, bacon, jalepenos and jack cheese was one of the best burgers I have ever encountered. Fries were fresh cut and great. But thats not all. The service was superb. Employees worked together to wait on me and were very friendly as was management who stopped by several time to check on quality of food. I give this place 5 stars.

Our visit started with a very rude young lady that "greeted" us at the door who, unfortunately, set the tone for the rest of our experience. The gentleman who waited on us seemed to be in a rush and our drinks were mediocre at best as was the food - the salsa was good though. Worst of all the bathrooms looked like a scene out of Trainspotting. Sad to say, we will not be going back.

Great location, especially if you can grab a balcony table. You can see up and down 6th street and enjoy all the frivolity that entails. Good burgers and drinks. They usually have some drink specials running and carry local beers. A/C is a must here and they leave it on high as they should so if you need to duck in, cool off, and grab a brew and bison, this is your joint.

The porch is great, the beer is cold. On two separate visits I tried the chicken fried steak then on the second visit I tried the Buffalo wings and the BBQ wings. Perhaps its my regional pallet, no judgement; The food just wasnt for me. To their credit the waiter recognized it and the manager made it right. Not every place is this great at hospility.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST SERVICE IVE EVER HAD. We were only approached to order our food and to pay for our meal. Im am still in shock and cannot believe the lack of service we received. I didnt even get to order anything to drink! The food was was also really lacking in flavor. I would not recommend this place nor will I be returning.

Heck yes! Such a great spot! The burgers are amazing! I had the chicken burger (I think it was called the Zilker) and it was truly terrific. The chipotle mayo with the avocado was a nice pair with the season, perfectly cooked chicken burger. Friendly staff and atmosphere make this a great lunch spot!

The menu had some delicious sounding brunch options but the dishes we orders did not live up to the hype. Fries were not crisp, chicken tender seemed over cooked. Salad was over dressed and my interpretation of "shaved" and the chefs differ greatly. The red onion in my salad was clunky and overpowering.

There is nothing Old School about this place. Got there 9 or 10 pm on a Friday and there was no place to sit yet there were many empty tables with chairs turned upside down on them. This doesnt make sense. If you want customers to stay you could at least offer up what little seating you have! How rude.
