The food was ok...nothing to write home about! They were not willing to make changes to any of the sushi rolls which leads me to believe their sushi is not made fresh in house. Service was mediocre at best and waitress could not understand English very well. Kitchen closes at 9:30 pm even though the restaurant doesnt close until 10 pm. We arrived at 9 pm and were told that if we wanted food, we would have to "hurry and order" or we wouldnt get anything at all. My complete order was two appetizers - an order of three shrimp tempura and an order of edamame. They brought out my shrimp tempura but not my edamame. I reminded the waitress three times about it and she kept saying "it will be out shortly". I ended up cancelling the edamame order since it never came out, at least not before I finished eating my shrimp. Honestly, my rating of two stars comes only from the ambience/decor of the restaurant and the fact that I did enjoy my shrimp tempura. Then again, it is hard to mess up shrimp tempura, in my opinion. It pains me to say this but I will not be returning to this restaurant, ever.

My girlfriend and I went the first time by chance and weve been going back ever since. I cant express how much I love this restaurant. The food is outstanding, the service is top notch and the environment is so friendly and homely its easy to accidentally spend hours eating, talking and just enjoying the view. Every time we go, were so pleased with the food and the service that we end up leaving a very large tip, and if youre a regular it doesnt go unnoticed. Also, the menu is very dynamic and you cannot go wrong. Order anything off the menu, even if you dont know what it is, you will be delightfully surprised every time. I highly recommend the heaven maki, sun spicy and the fried chicken teriyaki. (By the way, denister, sushi is supposed to be cold) -Steve P.S. Try the iced tea, its fantastic.

This is a family run business and many of the servers, the head sushi chef, and the greeter/waitress are family members. When you go here, you need to remember that this is a Korean family running a Korean/Japanese restaurant. They have awesome Korean bulgolgi and katsu and other traditional dishes. Their bon chon (side dishes/salads) are always fresh and delicious with a lot of variety. Their sushi is wonderful, especially if you create your own sushi roll so you get EXACTLY what you want. As you enjoy the food and atmosphere, you can rest assured knowing that you are also supporting a "mom and pop" local business instead of some of the chains around the corner.

Lived near by here for years now and never been here. Came here for lunch with a coworker and it was decent. I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here nor say they are the best sushi place in Austin or anything. Its good for a quick lunch and they have good lunch specials, I will give them that. The service is very fast during lunch, there is parking in the lot out front. The portion size is good for the price. So I would say its a good lunch spot. I dont think I would come again, unless other people wanted to go though. There are so many great places in Austin, and I feel like this one doesnt stand out as much as others around the area.

I really like Odaku, but I dont love them just yet. Ive been for many lunches and even for dinner. Lunch is my favorite because the combination possibilities with their bento box special are amazing. Their tempura is good, not great. The freshness of their fish (sashimi, nigiri & maki) is also pretty good. Their rolls are very tasty, especially if you like a spicy flavor. But the service is slow. Very slow, and not always attentive. For the record, the chefs at the sushi bar are usually on their A-game; its the waitresses and seating hostesses that disappoint. All told, most sushi lovers will have a pleasant experience.

2 is enough score. I went there several times. When the last time I went there, their survice was really horrible (there was no waiter and noone did come and later when I asked something their face seems unhappy. I think they were hanging out together in front of sushi table, talking together) so I decided not to go there anymore. I was having dinner with my foreign guests so it made me very embarrased. I hope that was the only moment they did to their customers.

I tried this place out one day when I was really craving some sushi. The setting is cozy and the staff is extremely attentive and friendly. I had a lunch special that came with 3 different rolls. The sushi was ok. It wasnt as fresh and the flavors did not impress. There was nothing wrong with the food but I just didnt leave with the thought of returning to dine at this place again. I really wish I could give a better review as the staff alone was phenomenal.

This place isnt Japan/Korea, but it definitely is quite tasty. I personally love going here for lunch- their bento boxes are well worth the price. A bit of teriyaki, sushi, salad, and the whole bits a great, filling size. Mix it together with a bit of tea and youre set for hours. Their sushi during happy hour is fairly priced and a great size. Honestly one of my favorite places around town just for the sake of quick service with unique tastes.

Some of the friendliest, most attentive staff I have encountered while dining out in awhile. You would never guess to enjoy that in a restaurant in a strip mall next to HEBs, but its true. The food is really great at well. Scrumptious!! They gave a simple bite of cheesecake at the end of the meal which was absolutely perfect because I wanted a sweet bite but there was no way I could have had any more than that. Absolutely wonderful.

They wont do a substitution (Im vegeterian). I Ask for bento box with NO meat, but something else (willing to pay extra) but my korean waitress said NO substitutions, then I change it for a roll with NO imitation crab, but she will suggested something else. Waitress was taking my order and then she walked away. Green tea ice cream was good. Agadashi tofu was right, different presentations (the flakes on top, and onion)

Fantastic. The fish is fresh and of high quality. Their miso soup is delicious. We went with the deluxe sushi plate, which is chefs choice of fish. The cuts were huge and flavorful, not the sort of thing you want to drown in soy sauce or wasabi. The service from the waitstaff is a little inconsistent, but the chef was very friendly and interested in how we had enjoyed our meal. Overall, I highly recommend Odaku.

Nice place. My wife and I both had bento boxes.. we loved that the menu was split between Korean and Japanese items and honestly we were torn on what to order as we saw some great Korean pots being served. Well be back regularly. Good service and food...prices were reasonable too.

I really want to like this place, its close to where I live and seems to be family run. However, the food is just average and a little pricier than what I think it should be at. I would still go by for some quick Korean or Japanese food occasionally, but not one of my favorites.
