Great food! I had the pizza and it was really flavorful. Also ordered the butternut squash soup. Really good. Complements to the kitchen! The reason I give them 3 starts is because of the service. The table next to me ordered a bottle of wine. The wine steward (I think thats what he was) spent 10-15 minutes leaning back over our table kissing the butt of the table that bought the bottle of wine. He almost knocked over my drink, made me feel like I wasnt as important as the other table and blocked access for our server. Our table was against the wall, so we had nowhere to go. It was almost like we didnt get good service because we werent dressed up. Both of us had just come from working a 9 hour volunteer shift. Just because we are wearing a t-shirt doesnt mean we will tip less. To be honest, likely quite the opposite. I will still tip the service that our server gave us (he was nice), but its hard to forget the rude wine steward leaning back over our table. Go for the food, sit at the bar.

Bad Bad place. Would not recommend. The Good part: * The location of the place is decent. * The waiters and the manager are helpful. * Decent selection of food The Bad part: * Food tastes bad. It is neither authentic Italian, nor Americanized Italian. * Serving portions are very small. Several menu items are not even sufficient for one meal * When we were at the place, they messed up the order pretty bad -- When one of us asked for no cheese, they got cheese in their meal -- Scallops was very salty -- I could not even a full meal with their meager portion size -- For Austin, this place has very limited to no veggie options

Went for a late Friday business lunch. Italic has a nice menu with a variety of pasta, salad and sandwich options in a cool setting, though it does lack a really simple light dish option. The food was good for a lunch pasta dish, though my coworker was less impressed with her dish. For the price it could have been better, but it wasnt bad either. The only real issue was how slow the service was, we werent in a rush, but we also werent able to return to work quickly, our waiter came by only infrequently and it took a while to process our check even though the place was rather quiet.

Wishing there was a rating between "fair" and "good". After reading previous positive reviews, Im not so sure that Texans know authentic Italian food. They did have a substantial wine selection, but none of the staple selections? Calamari, fresh prescuitto, eggplant parm, viel bolognese. Their happy hour antipasti selection of the day consisted of Rosemary Nuts and Marinated Olives..? The complimentary focaccia was tough and you must ask for oil, balsamic and pepper. Not to sound like a pretentious jerk, but Nana wouldnt be happy.

Italic has a beautiful interior with huge windows (good for daytime dining). My gf and I went during rush hour without having reservations but they happened to have seating available for 2. With that said, I still suggest making a reservation. Food was great! The Penne Rigate Alla Bolognese was rich and filling. The gf got the Gnocchi & Summer Vegetables which was light and fresh. The dishes are decently priced and Italics ambience is great for a friend meetup.

What a great Italian addition to downtown. Italic replaced Bar Louie. It recently opened, but you wouldnt be able to tell. The staff is very friendly and knowledge. They have an amazing Italian wine list. Not sure which wine pairs well with dinner? Talk to their onsite Somalis. Our table took advantage and he didnt disappoint. They have 2 sizes of pasta dishes. One to sample and share, and one entree size. Pizzas are also well prepared. I would recommend.

Everything from the atmosphere, to the staff, to food was perfect. Lots of natural light with large windows and a view of 6th street. Great options for vegetarians and gluten free people. One of the best lunches Ive had! I definetly recomend the Butternut squash soup, dont let the name scare you away. Its very thick and creamy with a sweet flavor! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Make reservations and get there early to find parking.

Came for a late night bite because I was craving pasta and this place did not disappoint. Ordered the penna rigate Bolognese and the burnt broccoli. Both came out well seasoned (though a bit on the salty side). The pasta had a delicious chewy texture with plenty of meat to go with each bite. The broccoli was slightly burnt with an ever so kick to it from the chili. Really enjoyed my meal here. Service was attentive and professional.

This is the great Italian food that youve been waiting for, Austin! We loved the ambiance, cocktails, and wine list... and of course the food. Italics attention to detail was reflected in every bite from the touch of mint on my bolognese to sopressata pizza with chili and honey. The star of the show is the 1 3/4" Florentine steak. Youll think youre in Italy. Ciao!

Dessert - pignoli & crostata - was divine. The vegetable sides - zucchini & carrots - were deliciously prepared. The Chatarra, which featured housemade pasta, was delicate & citrusy. The lasagna (which was the Monday night 3-course Prix Fixe for $25 - a great helping at a great deal, I might add) was rich & creamy. This is some of the better Italian food Ive eaten.

Came here at brunch and had a great time!! $3 mimosas are hard to beat and please please try the braised duck hash! Its super delicious and very hearty which I loved. The waiters were kind and talkative and had good recommendations. The atmosphere is very modern and I like how they set up tables with bar stools and bar benches. Would love to come here again!!

The atmosphere is nice for a date or for a small group. The music varies but isnt too loud. The service was excellent and our waiter had great knowledge of the food and wine. Many of the ingredients are imported from Italy. The Penne Rigate Bolognese was on the salty side, but still very good. Id definitely eat here again.

I personally love this place. I do not know - there is something about it: light food at a good price. A wine list whereby if one wishes to spend under ten dollars a glass to north of sixty dollars on a bottle. I personally prefer the a seat at the windows edge of the cafe to do some people watching...

Cool interior build out and design. Tasty food with some ingredients you can tell are quality. Like, vegetables that realllllly taste like fresh, in-season vegetables. My mom is a pasta connoisseur and she loved their bucatini. Plus, its ELM restaurant group so you know its going to be well done.

The food was amazing! I had an almond milk cappuccino and it was ridiculously delicious. I wonder if it was in the milk?? My girlfriend and I each ordered a different pasta entree, both were satisfying and not over-sized. We shared an entree of mussels and they were fresh and tasty.

Great experience at the cafe during sxsw. You would think with all the crowds that they wouldnt be offering any happy hour specials but to the contrary they had their normal happy hour running. They have a great wine selection and pizzas. One of the best wine and pizza in town...
