Went here for lunch one day with my husband. First of all, its located inside of a gas station. So its hard to find, because there is no sign outside. As we walk up to the window, the guys cell phone rings and he answers it instead of helping us. The menu is "ehh", tries to combined Indian and Chinese dishes and doesnt really do either of them justice. We got the Chicken Manchurian to split. As we were sitting down at the tables, a photographer showed up to take pictures of his food for one of the online food delivery services. The owner/employee wasnt very helpful or accommodating to the photographer. It was so awkward to watch. The photographer asked the guy to start bringing the dishes to him so he could photograph them. The owner told him that he needed to take the picture of our food (that had already been served to us at our table and I was literally taking the first bite out of it). The photographer said, "No, I dont feel comfortable taking pictures of customers food."-Thank God. The owner/employee made it clear he was not going to make dishes just so he could take pictures. He brought out another dish for the photographer in one of those crappy aluminum to-go containers. After about 30 seconds of the photographer shooting it, the owner/employee grabs the dishes and gives it to a guy who has been waiting for his to-go order. The photographer and owner got into a argument because it was the customers food again. The photographer finally leaves after calling his boss and saying this owner wasnt cooperating. Then 2 white people (a couple) walk in to order. They looked at the menu and asked about the special (bhuna gosht) and the owner/employee said, "Oh dont worry about that, thats only for Indian people. White people cant order it." The couple laughed it off, but I was floored! Completely unprofessional, food was average, but choices were limited. I will never come here again because of the bad experience, there are much better Indian places around Austin.

So I decided to try this place out today. I ordered the paneer fried rice and took it to go. Once I started eating it, looked good, tasted good. And then I find a roach lying dead right under the rice. I almost throw up and immediately called the owner and told him about it. He started yelling, cursing and blaming me that I must be joking! I took the food back and showed him exactly what I found- a dead roach. He couldnt believe this had happened and not once did he apologize for the incident. I will never recommend this place to anyone and highly recommend if you decide to eat here, please check your food before leaving or eating. You never know what you might find inside. If anyone has any contacts in health inspection, feel free to refer them to this place for an audit. He did give me a refund, but felt more like a heres your money, now get out of my shop attitude. Even the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld is nicer then the guy who works behind the counter at this place.

UPDATE: He has cool new red tables and chairs to sit at so its more and more a nice, quaint little restaurant. Get the Chicken 65. You cant go wrong with that! --------------------- UPDATE: Hes now open for lunch, starting at about 11:00 AM. This is probably the best Indian food in the area, so head on over there (it inside the E. Braker Ln Food Mart) and get some for lunch. --------------------- A real hidden gem. The chef is also a chef at The Continental, downtown. I wanted the Goat Korma but it was not ready. So he convinced me to get the Chicken Tikka Massala. Wonderful! Such subtlety of flavors. My wife had the Ginger Chicken and liked it very much. The "Chicken Lollipops" are just wings (the big parts), but are very tasty. I highly recommend this place. This is probably some of the best Indian food you are going to get in Austin.

Sold out! We missed out on the Chicken Lollypops!!! Got here at 6pm on a Monday and I was surprised they were sold out! :( I will have to update this review once I have a chance to try their signature dish. Chicken 65 was slightly lemony and medium spicy. Lots of flavor. The chicken was on the dry side but the flavor made up for it. Chicken Shezwan wrap had lots of stir fried veggies in curry and spicy sauce. Bombay Potatoes are like mashed potatoes with added spice and green peas. Id say the food was okay, but Ill have to update you once we try the Chicken Lollypops. 3 stars for the food, but... 5 stars for the service!! The employees here were so nice. They care about their customers and this isnt want I expected at a convenience store. I want to give this place 5 stars.... so, to be continued!

My friend kept telling me i needed to try this "new" place. I relented and went in. The location (inside of a convenience store) is not appealing, but Im willing to overlook that for good food. I walked up to the counter, read the menu (many items are marked out and appear to have been for months) and made a selection. I tried to get someone to take my order, even calling back into the kitchen area through the little window. I checked the hours to verify that they were, in fact, actually open. No one ever came to help me so, after about 5 minutes of looking like a loon, I left to find dinner elsewhere. I promise I will go back and try the food. If my experience is better, I will edit this review to reflect that.

Looking for the best hole-in-the-wall meal you can find in Austin, Tx? Look no further. Owner is not from this country? Check. Everything on the menu is under $10? Check. Located in a shady building? Check and check again. In fact, it is in the back of a convenient store. Try the Chicken Lollypops. If theyre out, get the Chicken Naan wrap. It is one of the most flavorful and fresh bread + meat creations I have ever crossed paths with. Eat here. You will NOT be disappointed. Would have been a 5 star review if I did not have to wait 40 minutes.

Ive been going here for more than two years and though Im not in Austin much these days I make sure to drop by every time Im in town. Theyve recently added Pav Bhaji and my Indian friends can vouch for its authenticity. Great digestion--I always wake up feeling great. For a healthy choice, ask him to make you something with spinach. Another insider tip is to try the sweet corn soup. It takes time to get your food because every dish is cooked fresh no matter how many people are waiting, but the upside is the tenderness and customized spice level.

I ordered chicken lollypop and chicken 65, I have been eating these entries my entire life at all different places. but what I got here as my order was something different, Chicken 65 was like a curry (I was like Seriously? If you dont know how to prepare this entry take it off your menu.), and what to say about chicken lollypop, It was not cooked properly, oil was dripping and also has some skin left on the drumsticks. I will not recommend anyone to have those entries, try some other entry at your own risk.
