Sushi Yaa used to be, three or so years ago, a really cool place to come in and eat. But since then, it seems to have changed management, or owner or whatever, and since they did, everything about the place has gone downhill. My wife really likes sushi, and SushiYaa used to have decent sushi, usually fresh, as well as nice decor, cool music and attentive wait staff. Since the change in management (or ownership, or whatever): 1. You now have these tiny little 8x10 (if that big) trays with a piece of paper on it. They give you this, and tell you that when you want another postage-stamp sized tray of sushi, instead of getting another plate like you normally would, you simply take the soy-sauce soaked, crappy little peice of paper out of your tiny doll tray and put another one in it, so that they wont have to provide you a clean plate, just a piece of paper. How cheap. 2. God forbid you want to be healthier and not have a soda and only want water with your sushi, because if you do, they give you this tiny, plastic 6 ounce (Yes, thats right. You read it right, SIX stupid ounces). This means that, lets say youve just worked out, or hell, its summer and hot outside, and are a little thirsty. Six measly ounces of water is NOTHING, and youll finish it in one drink. What are you supposed to do? Sip it like its 30 year old scotch? Its WATER! So you take your one little drink and empty your water cup. Does someone come around to give you more? Hell NO! You, the paying customer get to get off your tuckus and walk all the way over across entire restaurant, and get YOURSELF another childs teacup full of water. And less if you happen to want it cold, cause then the giant receptacle youve been given will be taken up by an ice cube. Seems to me that if you own a business wherein the food you serve is what costs you most, youd want to have people drink water and tea, that costs you absolutely nothing, as much as they wanted. The more they drink, the less room they have for food that costs you money. Youd think SushiYaa would have a giant glass of tea or water in front of you at all times, always filled so that you drink and drink and drink, so you eat less sushi. Money for you, water for the customer, everyones happy, right? And lastly, the food. Want fresh sushi? You better show up at opening time, because, in my experience, its one of the few opportunities youll have to get it. Otherwise, prepare for hard rice wrapped around questionably-colored food. And to add insult to injury, the final blow? They raised prices. Eleven damn dollars a plate for this. The only reason I havent given this place 1 star is that if you do happen to get the sushi when its just been set out and is fresh, its not bad at all. Bottom line, show up early and be prepared to pay way more than you should.

i love Sushiyaa or at least the old version and would always go out of my way to visit sushiyaa. it was a great buffet with a good price for sushi. HOWEVER i went last week with my family and they had remolded FOR THE WORST. they have gotten rid of all the wait staff and the food was just is not the same quality. The decor went from friendly and interesting, to plain and cold. also you no longer have plates to eat off of, you have a tray with a little piece of paper that everyone can touch before you get it on your plate (very gross) i am not picky at all, but after this change, i will not be going back here ever again:( it was a favorite place to take friends too but now i will never tell anyone to visit this place. also the people that they do have working there were very unprofessional and rude. i asked for my favorite thing on the buffet and they wouldnt make it. we left and i went back in because i forgot something on the table, they just put out "my fav item" i wanted on the buffet. the guy was just smiling at me kinda like hahaha. also im guessing the owner of the place, sat at one of the tables and counted his money, putting it in plastic bags. i would not visit this place unless you like being treated like crap and poor quality food. AND IM VERY SAD TO SAY THIS!!!!!!!!

My wife and I have been wanting to stop by here for sometime now. After dining in last night I can say it was not a great experience, most likely wont be back for the following reasons. We walked in and it seemed to be a bit cold, we tried to ignore it the whole visit but it was a bit overwhelming. The rice in the steamer was cold, it was fused together like one big block of white rice that was afraid to part ways with its neighbor, the fried rice was even worse and looked like it had been there for hours and cold considering it was placed out. All the sushi we tried was good and fair for the most part, some selective sushi was really good (Cheeto Sushi I believe and a few others) but everything else was cold and others looked like it had been there for way too long. The ramen noodles my son got had no flavor, seemed like they made it and stuck it on bowls (Maybe its supposed to be like that but it was just blah). I kept waiting to be surprised somehow some way but we hurried out after all said and done. It was also a bit dirty, there is sooo much this place has to clean up before they even think about franchising but if an investor cant see all the details they lack then they probably shouldnt be pursuing it any further. Really disappointed!

For the price of the buffet, the quality is perfect. The new remodeling of the place stands out the best in the evening, bringing a Tokyo urban feel. Its great to come with friends and have some beers. I love the Hot Cheeto roll..when the Hot Cheeto crumbs arent stale. Thats happened once, though. All the other rolls are delicious. I mainly go for the sushi, but the available entrées are just as good. However, theyre not fooling anyone with those ramen noodles. Haha. The manager dude, or Im assuming thats who he is, needs to chill a bit, though. I arrived with friends about 40 minutes until closing time. As soon as we entered, before even paying, we were told to basically eat fast, hurry up and leave because they were closing. We already knew that as the hours are on their website, Google Maps, and most obvious, the window on their door. Not that we had intentions on staying the closing time, it was just kind of rude. My family and I own a restaurant, and we let our customers finish their meal even if they take ten minutes after the closing hour. Its only good and polite customer service.

I bumped into a very wealthy couple a few years ago and during our conversation they told me to check this place out. They said it was amazing sushi, especially considering it was only $10. Sure enough it was pretty good, not on par with the high price establishments but much closer than many places that are more expensive. Get there when the place is busy and the rolls are fresh and you will leave satisfied, like any sushi place if you get there when the sushi has been out awhile it wont be at its best. I still drive there when I can, even after moving to north east Dallas at the very least I drop in on my birthday every year and get some fried ice cream. Please bring one of these to Addison so i can stop in a few times a week for lunch, Addison would be a great spot for a franchise
